+1. Be ready to stop, manuever, be judgemental. Safe riding is not all about wearing protective gears, keeping the bike fit and insuring for a third party damage.

As a fast rider I am responsible to mind my speeds based on where I ride. An incident like this can be avoided if atleast one of the victim acts smart..

My point is cops has to take measures to control speeds near residential, what's the point holding a speed-gun hiding under a tree in a empty no-man stretches. let the motorist enjoy the speed where he can. Take measures to slow down a speedster when he doesnt controls himself.
          .
Have you ever seen a cattle jump over a center median and dash across traffic waving to slow down motorists, or use abusive language , ?or cross half way then double back and run across unsuspecting motorists ?
This is not to justify what had happened , but we are supposed to be blessed with 6 heightened and better senses ,and superior to animals..time we put then to use.....while some of us seek thrill in road racing others do by jaywalking, trying to stop traffic ....

          - Animals are scared of their life & cross the roads more quickly
          - Animals don't wave hand to a speeding vehicle to cross the road
          - Animals know the consequence of what is run over by a vehicle
          - They say...animals have only 5 senses, that provokes me a question within...does that even apply to such idiots?
I wish to recollect here one of my experience...from 1992 to 94 everyday at 5 to 5.30 PM at the Nandanam junction signal I use to see a White Bull standing on the Chamiers road side Pedestrian crossing waiting for signal. when the Pedestrian Signal turns green, and people start to cross the bull would cross over to the T'Nagar side and walk on the pavement...some times in morning i used to see it cross over from Venkatanarayana road to chamiers road through the pedestrian crossing, when the signal is green for crossing....Even if some pedestrian run across when traffic is thin the bull would never try to cross...This humbled me and taught me a lesson...

Sir I am not supporting Jaywalkers anywhere here, my context was very short, an old man is poor in all the above senses. If you have been on a controlable speed loss of life could be possibly avoided. Imagine if the victim had been a innocent kid, atleast this poor old-man doesnt has his parents alive to take the blame.

I don't appreciate diverting this to a debate on Animal vs Human.

Precisely...Cops are also held responsible here

                • Sad to hear about the accident. Whether it was jay-walking or missed to notice. I would always think as a rider we need to be careful on road. There are many more morons on the road than we could think so we need to anticipate tight situations and avoid accidents.

Having said this, I want all the newbies to take a cue from Sunday incident. So I request you all to get the riding gears for your safety. We will not race against each other. Please do not rush had you got stuck in traffic, always the group ahead will wait for the remaining members to join.
Traffic Cops would not hesitate to pull you off the road for checking, hence ensure that you all to carry vehicle papers (RC, Insurance-upto date, Driving lisence and Pollution Certificate if available).

                  Pointers:-
                  Vehicle papers
                  Riding gears
Service or check the ride thoroughly
                  Respect public

Please feel free to contact Seniors in case of any questions.

@Pratheep and Raman:- Are you guys in?

@Motographers:- Please make this trip memorable.

                  • Sri - How about laying the rules of the game before we actually start the ride? Like we used to do earlier with Kirosh on the hand signals etc? This will help the newbies to learn faster. Just my thought, but, pls use discretion.

                    • ^Yes, all the newbies will be demonstrated of hand signals and briefed about group riding ettiquettes. I hope newbies are matured enough to understand the importance of these instructions and implement during the rides.

@Newbies- Do you all have protection gears? I know some have ordered, some have arranged etc. Just checking..

We do not force people to join for the ride. It should be induvidual interest to be part of. Also, it would be a good opportunity to interact with other members and know more about group riding skills, safe riding and take part in technical discussion. We share our experiences from trips and plan future rides too. In future if there is any road trip organized, your short trip experiences with the group would become handy for eligibility.
