Still there is a fight for the destination

If i am not wrong then the Gagan chukki and barah chukki mean Shivasamudram falls, Right?

Well then towards the end while you approach towards these falls the roads will be damn dead ones!!
At least 2-3km of total off roading!!
      Been there once
i went there just few days back and the roads were good..its not as bad as you mentioned...till maddhur the roads are like heaven from there its like our city roads..just a few pothole here and there thats it..

My vote goes to :Twin chukki

My family will be going to Hampi in the first week of next month. Can anyone please suggest the best hotel in Hospet / Hampi?

I am not asking for value for money hotel here. Just the best available hotel.

          Thanks in advance.
When I went there two years ago, Hampi had only two decent hotels - Kishkinda resort and the KSTDC Mayura(Govt run). I paid around Rs.1800 a night for Kishkinda (since the only govt hotels I trust are in Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh) - Kishkinda has decent cottages spread over a large area and a small stream runs through it. I also liked the fact that it was spread out and was isolated and peaceful. They also have a cheesy amusement park but that is at a little distance from the cottages so it does not disturb.

The only downside was that it was on the other side of Tungabhadra river (the under construction bridge collapsed last year) which meant I had to ride my bike 50 kms to get to the Hampi. But if you want to walk, then it is relatively easier because a 12 minute walk gets you to the banks of the river, from where you can ride a boat for 30 seconds and get to the Hampi side and explore the monuments close to the river. But at some point, you will need your own wheels because Hampi is spread over a large area and to acess areas like the Queen's bath, you will need a car since that distance is not walkable, especially with a family.

The food at Kishkinda was atrocious, but that is the case with most of the hotels in Hampi. There are some goa type joints along the river on the Kishkinda side which serves some fancy pasta/soup type food if you're interested.

But if you ask me, the better option is to stay at Hospet, which is a typical little town which you need to pass through to get to to Hampi (distance 13kms). I have not stayed there, but I checked up the net and there seems to be a 3 star hotel called Malligi. I remember passing this hotel, but did not have time to check it from the inside. Judging by their website pictures, they seem to be good.

Malligi Hotel in Hospet - Luxurious Star Hotel near Hampi, Karnataka
          Hotel Malligi
          10/ 90 J.N. Road, Hospet
          Karnataka 583201, India

          Telephone: 91 08394 228101 (8 Lines)
          Fax: (91) 08394 227038
          Email: [email protected]
          [email protected]

Staying here will make sense since this saves you the trouble of driving for 50 kms. The traffic will be a pain due to a LOT of mining trucks on the road, sometimes resulting in a huge jam. Malligi will also have better(and safe) options for eating. I will definitely try this Malligi place out if I was going there again.

Let me know if you have any questions!

ps- i give a 90% chance of getting fined when interceptors are present in highways, theres no way to maintain speed limit ,have been fined already twice on gpo main road.

With this in mind, you'll probably never ride out with xBhpians!!
We hardly have 10-15 members in rides these days. Its always lower, or much higher.
