Commenting on the basis of the last few posts here. I just got my own GT650R and having ridden it a substantial amount of kilometeres in the past as well I have to admit the quality of the bike is not more than the Japs by any stretch of imagination but also its not far from them. Again I stress that the main component, the engine is similar to the japanese (the old SV650), the bike does produce a healthy 72.4 BHp which is a tad more than the N650R and yes it also handles well.
But it will always remain the underdog, at least for some time to come, both in India as well as internationally. However, look at any major magazine across the world and it is there, be a winner or not!

. I have also booked one and will soon get the delivery. Can't comment much on how this bike will be in performance but i wish, it goes well and upto the expectations.

Well I didn know that this thread existed. Well anyways just wanted to tell u guys that I am guy who has never ridden higher cc bikes unless I came across the test ride of gt650r. Man after riding 21bhp bike when you ride 70+ bhp bike u really dont have words but luckily with me I got plain stretch high way to test the limits of the bike single seated.
Well on the first gear didn notice the speed but when 2nd gear maxed out I was doing 132 and 3rd 160+ and then 4th I believe maxed out at 192 I guess well thats it didn have guts to put 5th even though the road was clear and on every gear u have to hold the bike tightly or else u will actually be thrown by the force. Oh did I mention the braking? Well after crossing 180+ I looked behind and there was no one so hit the brakes to see how good it stops. I pressed it and then I c on the meter its 90kmph that was actually awesome. But dont know why I didn like using the rear brakes it was just like any ordinary one, thats what I felt.
The only thing I didn like the bike or I can say the disadvantage is that u cant keep this bike in powerband for long time just like we keep our r15 o 220 while racing or what ever coz then your right palm after getting down the ride starts hurting so badly coz in the powerband the handle vibrates like crazy and your palm needs rest for 15 mins to cool down the pain. Oh and must say was wearing my the kit and knee pad and helmet gloves. And then also after keeping the bike in powerband for longer time the tank heats so much that at times u can actually feel that heat in ur private parts :-P. The mileage I heard is in 20Kmpl some thing close to that. Well if I had money I would definitely buy this only as its cheaper and enough powered considering the indian roads. Would prefer the 1 I test rode wich was red and black in colour ;-)

Nobody can fault the SV650 derived engine that does duty in the GT650R...this is bulletproof and proven to be a great performer. Where the Koreans do fall behind a bit is when it comes to the "cycle" parts and finishing quality. The fit and finish could use a bit more attention to detail. The paint finish frankly is below par. The bikes I saw had orange peel and gradients in the shade.
The plastics aren't too bad...I've seen worse on some Suzuki big-bikes.
How does it matter? People will buy the one they identify with and I can absolutely see situations when I would rather be on a GT650R than a Ninja 650R...and I've booked a Ninja.
What troubles me is the amount of posting some members do over here...when do they ride?

I agree with the "On some situations, I'd rather ride "A" bike than "B", but anyways one has to choose a single bike for purchasing, right?Originally posted by gsferrari View PostNobody can fault the SV650 derived engine that does duty in the GT650R...this is bulletproof and proven to be a great performer. Paint quality might be a criterion for some people, but I still believe one has to set priorities clear. For example,
My priorities for my next bike are: Low end torque, good acceleration, most suitable high capacity for city conditions, slightly sporty riding position, good city level handling, low wheelbase, enough cruisability for the highways, reliable service network, light weight, good tank range, etc.
Not on my priority: too much flashiness/ attention grabbing, bigger size, maximum power, showoff, etc.
It's easy to suggest me a bike, ain't that right? Anyone here would suggest me the N instead of GT.
Everyone should list down the priorities and then decide. Unfortunately, most decisions are taken within the heart and not the brain.---
Brotherhood, Rules, Freedom. Xbhp.
Indian riding = Alertness, Anticipation and Adjustment.

I quite agree with these points, and they were in fact the primary drivers for my decision to go with the N650R.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostMy priorities for my next bike are: Low end torque, good acceleration, most suitable high capacity for city conditions, slightly sporty riding position, good city level handling, low wheelbase, enough cruisability for the highways, reliable service network, light weight, good tank range, etc.

In terms of practicality alone, there are very few options available for about 5L or so, and I think Kawasaki really nailed it by getting their target audience spot on.

Nothing...why?Originally posted by captain koli View Posthey what happned to your MT

Ah in that sense. The MT is very much with me and has covered near as makes no difference, 30K Km.Originally posted by darkknight View PostBugger has 10 bikes

"just" one more to the stable ---
I don't have 10 bikes anymore. Just 7 including the Ninja...whenever that gets delivered
Ideally it should be a balance between the two. Brain will always say Bandit, bandit, bandit, bandit but I just cannot look at that bike and get a hard-on. If a bike doesn't make me...excited, then I don't want it.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostEveryone should list down the priorities and then decide. Just one question to hyosung GT650 owners. How much cost is involved in the fibre body parts if you drop the bike or god forbids crash? Is it same like ninja where you blow offff your entire savings or lesser?
This question actually is just to know the running and long term cost of GT650 ownership.
