My question is should i take this vehicle or should I wait for the vehicle to come from the company (1st batch). They received the Display vehicle sometime around 15th July.

Re: Duke 390: Long Term Ride Review
Hi MG, the Mogappair showroom in Chennai was recently opened and they have a display vehicle available. The manager confirmed that the vehicle is not even started. I checked and yes, the vehicle is not driven at all. The manager told me that this is not the Test Drive vehicle and it is the actual production version. He said since I am the first guy who has booked there he can deliver the Display model once they get a confirmation from the company to start the supply.Originally posted by MG View Post

1. Start the engine; 2. Turn the trottle; 3. Disappear ;)

Re: Duke 390: Long Term Ride Review
Even if the vehicle is not driven, the chances are that people would have fiddled with it. I have personally seen people wrung the throttle in closed environment 3 times in less than 10 minutes. If you are ok with all that you can always go ahead and pick the bike. Chances are we ourselves would have played with all the switches, horns etc to test them. Why risk suck a bike after waiting for so long.Originally posted by Venkatesh Velmani View PostHi MG, the Mogappair showroom in Chennai was recently opened and they have a display vehicle available. Re: Duke 390: Long Term Ride Review
It's ridiculous when Indian company takes a major stake holding in foreign company like ktm jaguar and land rover these company do well and on return Indian consumers get these products late and usually expensive. India always get last last priority not even second priority. When all other developed countries get their share then only we get our left over share.

Re: Duke 390: Long Term Ride Review
That should be ok man.. The showroom was very recently opened and they have like only 6 bookings till date. I am ok with meddling of switches and horn as long as nothing is broken. What I am worried about is if there are any differences between this and the bikes manufactured now.Originally posted by rbi View PostEven if the vehicle is not driven, the chances are that people would have fiddled with it. If the vehicles manufactured now have some tweaks to correct the niggles, then i would happily wait. If both the bikes are the same, then I will happily take the Display bike.

I do not know about the other companies, but what KTM/Bajaj has in mind does make sense. As the manager said, if the monsoon season start on september then people would wait to buy the bike until the summer starts again. So by exporting all the models now, they get maximum sales. But us waiting while the foreigners getting their bikes is a pain though..Originally posted by studiobindia View PostIt's ridiculous when Indian company takes a major stake holding in foreign company like ktm jaguar and land rover these company do well and on return Indian consumers get these products late and usually expensive. Re: Duke 390: Long Term Ride Review
DeVille your saying about windshield and short number plate holder, whether it's a power part? where can we get the short number plate holder for 7k. Is it the Indian price or abroad price? How come you know it's 7k, how can we get it here in India?Originally posted by DeVille View PostSorry, will reupload from my PC. Were visible to me when I uploaded from the phone

Re: Duke 390: Long Term Ride Review
Actually KTM tied up with Bajaj not because they all of a sudden fell in love with India or its market for higher CC bikes, they did because of manufacturing costs. KTMs intention which is not hidden is to make bikes at low cost and sell all over the world. That they chose India and Bajaj is our luck and because of that we getting these motorcycles at such good price. Their big market is overseas but we also get it probably because Bajaj insisted that it be allowed to sell here too.Originally posted by studiobindia View PostIt's ridiculous when Indian company takes a major stake holding in foreign company like ktm jaguar and land rover these company do well and on return Indian consumers get these products late and usually expensive. So in this condition late is perfectly ok considering the other option, which is not being available at all!

Re: Duke 390: Long Term Ride Review
I'm sooo frustrated with KTM / Bajaj now... My patience waiting for the delivery is going down
. Latest update is that the delivery of first lot would be during 1st week of September.
Please bear with my rants below:
When I booked the bike they told me that the first lot would get delivered during 2nd week of July. During first week of July, they told me that the first lot would be delivered during 1st week of August, then it got pushed to 4th week of August. Now they are telling me that first lot would get delivered by 1st week of September. Still they are only ASSUMING that it may get delivered by fist week of September. I know the clause of '90 days maximum waiting period and all...'.
But Bajaj / KTM SHOULD definitely let us know tentative / definite dates on this. I don't care about week Rupee Vs Dollar or all the production units being exported to satisfy customers in other countries. They should atleast release 5 to 10 bikes per show room in India.
I don't have a motorcycle for the past 4 months and booked KTM on the first day to make sure that I get it in first lot. Now I'm so desperate and in need of some motorcycle that I'm even thinking of cancelling my booking and get a used [CBR or ??] motorcycle.
Just wanted to give out my rants so that I don't explode on some one else for some other silly reasons....

Re: Duke 390: Long Term Ride Review
I understand your concern. I sold my cbr in march to buy this. Booked in April. Still bike less. The pathetic excuses by the dealers isn't helping matters either.Originally posted by vidhya View PostI'm sooo frustrated with KTM / Bajaj now... My patience waiting for the delivery is going down

Patience my friend. Good things happen to people with nerves of carbon fibre. Devote your time to some other hobby for the moment....lolss. On a serious note, have patience and shoot a mail to Bajaj/KTM. That would surely put you ahead of the Q.

Since we are discussing powerparts now, guys, if anyone can fill in why the akrapovic slip on is not available as a powerpart in India?
I just love the way it looks and imo it'll make the 390 look even better and sound meaner.
