The service cost for duke 200 is rs 6xx so for the 390 it should be same or say a little more, not much.
Are you finally planning to get the 390? What happened to waiting for the p375?

Wow..and you too know about my 375 plans bro, actually im in need of a bike very badly and there's no confirmation on the launch date of 375 from bajaj. So the only bike that excites me in the market now is the 390.
Thats why enquired about the service cost. Actually its by a mistake I bought the Cbr abs, its one damn expensive machine to maintain. Shim problems, brake pads wear off at 3.5-4 k nd costs around 4.5 k to replace (both set) and lots of other head ache. So I'll only finalized after a thorough googling and opinion from the experts, the only thing which is keeping me away fro. 390 is its extreme tyre replacement cost. Both tyre replacement will make a 25k hole on ones wallet. ..

And a good news
Xbhp trivandrum is getting a WGP edition R1 today...there should be a g2g. Will talk more on the g2g thread

I so want to come for the g2g, would ask another guy I know to pick me up.
Good news for you is the Metzelers are going to cost 11k(front and rear) as posted by chinmayakar, he asked a ktm guy who said because bajaj gets them in bulk they can offer it for such a good price.
I'll pm you regarding something I want to ask.

Thank you Abhijeet. But then why is it mentioned as hydraulically operated in the ktm website? is it hydraulically operated for the imported versions alone? lil confused!!!

It seems to save us during wet and rain rides as it helps as a mud and splash guard. In the pictures, it was somewhat like a hard plate and when I inquired the dealer he told me we can get it by order and it costs around 7k. He said its a steel plate, not sure which one he is referring to. I stopped calling or visiting the ktm store for the past 2-3 weeks as I am really bored hearing the same answer from them regarding delivery (aug last or sep first week, nothing concrete). I am just going to wait for their call and trying hard to not think about the bike, but it seems to be a very big task as still I am always wandering the internet like a mad dog for updates and reviews, guess this bike has changed my behavior recently. Anyway lets wait for the good to come!!!

One imp thing guys, please help clarify!!! does the duke 390 has cable operated clutch or hydraulically operated clutch. KTM website still says hydraulically operated
Same behaviour here also suren.I limit my enquiry to once in a week. And hearing the same from them.again into web world.

Looks like the Chakan strike is almost coming to an end.

Awaiting formal Chakan strike end letter from union: Bajaj - CNBC-TV18

Hopeful to see the cloud shadowing the delivery dates to fade off.

You can go for the the 4lane highway ride right after taking your bike out of the showroom just that give it a break every 60-70kms, keep varying the speeds (100-120 variation is good enough), try to ride in all gears, give it a burst of speed occasionally and most important practice a lot of engine braking.

Varying the speed is advised so that the components are acclimatized to varying engine speeds and to prevent glazing.
Thx for the info...one more question...What is engine breaking?? sorry to bug u...and when u say burst of speed..can i go beyond 7500rpm which is restricted in manuel? Ok..i wont sue u if it gets f@#$ed...

Engine braking in simple terms would be: the resistance provided by the engine when you let go the throttle.
Say, you are riding your bike in a particular gear then you stop giving any throttle input. Don't you experience a retarding force? Happens more in the initial gears. This is engine braking.

And by occasional bursts of speed I surely mean crossing 7.5k rpm. Take it to say a 9k-9.5k rpm (I would redline it) and try to do this in all gears. Avoid holding on to these speeds for long, 30-45sec bursts should be good enough.
Rest assured nothing would happen to the engine. Do this without worrying a single bit about your engine.
Ensure that you change the oil and oil filter during your first service which for me would be way before the recommended 1k kms. Around 500kms max, may be.

I think the 390's engine oil could be Motul 7100, and it cost around 700rs and 390 should need 1.5 liter of oil, the how can the first service be cost around 600rs....?

I called the Adyar KTM showroom this evening and they said the following - Loading will happen this week and they will start distribution either towards the weekend or (mostly) next week. This is exactly what they said two weeks ago as well (predicted August 2nd week) so lets see. The wait continues

And I was only talking about the service cost and that does not include any consumables like oil, oil filter etc.
That would be separate.

If thats the case, the the first service cost will ve around 2-2.5k as most of the owners will opt for Motul 300v factory line
and any guess on the brake pads..? As they are ABS pads and they may last around 4-4.5k kms.
Heard a sad news that the trivandrum ktm's test drive 390 is leaking oil after a couple of test drives, hopes it's not a common fault for the 390 like the problem found on the first lot duke 200's.
