Re: Duke 390: Long Term Ride Review

So, the bike has been designed NOT to start when throttle is applied. Is this the reason for the starting issue that was seen? Also, it seems KTM expects the bike to start in under 5 secs during normal operations. When starting,DO NOT open the throttle. If you open the throttle during the starting procedure, fuel is not injected by the engine management system and the engine cannot start. Press the starter for a maximum of 5 seconds. Wait for a least 5 seconds before trying again.Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

Re: Duke 390: Long Term Ride Review
But I am rather skeptical, a typo from KTM on their website and for so long? Its copied to every motorcycle site and if it were false they would all be saying so..Originally posted by DukeDey View Post
Might be a typo after all. I have checked all the international reviews and also pictures of the international 390's but was not able to spot an oil reservoir for the hydraulic clutch unit nor a cylinder around the casing. They never ever mentioned a hydraulic clutch anywhere in the reviews too.

Well, this is exactly what the sales guy told one of the test riders- "don't open the throttle when starting and keep it starter pressed for 3-4 seconds"Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostFound this in the KTM 390 user manual -

Re: Duke 390: Long Term Ride Review
Guys, I'll be out of station for a month in October, and my baby will be all alone in the garage. I'm planning to empty the tank. Someone here told me no need to remove the battery. Hope that's the case, right? What about the tyres, i had observed last time on my P220 the tyre pressure was very low when i came back. Should the tyres be off the ground when not in use for a month? if so how do i do it?

Re: Duke 390: Long Term Ride Review
They are not so delicate just leave it covered and nothing will happen. I have left my Unicorn unused for more than a a month with petrol in tank. No problem when I wanted to start after that. Or, better you can ask someone to just idle it once a week for 5mins.Originally posted by THE46FAN View PostGuys, I'll be out of station for a month in October, and my baby will be all alone in the garage. Re: Duke 390: Long Term Ride Review
What a coincidence man! Yesterday itself I was mentioning to another member that I would be out of station for the month of October. Going by my delivery number, that is 33, I should get the bike somewhere around mid sept or late sept if everything falls in place from bajaj's end. So, no point keeping the bike idle for a month right after taking the delivery. I took a very hard decision that I would take the bike once I come back, that woild be November 1st week. I know its going to be tough.Originally posted by THE46FAN View PostGuys, I'll be out of station for a month in October, and my baby will be all alone in the garage. I'm planning to empty the tank. Re: Duke 390: Long Term Ride Review
Has anyone got any call regarding the loan?
I had booked on the opening day i.e 26th june and had applied for loan with relevant documents (indira nagar, bangalore). So far no calls/news whatsoever from the bajaj finance. Wondering if its just me??
From the recent posts, looks like deliveries are being delayed further and further, with no concrete new. for me, whats difficult is the uncertainty. would be at peace even if they could atleast give a tentative date and stick by it.
And what happens if we dont get the delivery by 26th sept, which is 90 days? we are already past around 50 of them..

Re: Duke 390: Long Term Ride Review
I think all of us here need to be patient and wait till this month end. If we dnt hear anything by Sep 10th...hit the Red button.
I trust this guy..Rajiv Bajaj...the way he handled the Union strike is enough for me. No nonsense...to the point guy. Hang on guys...

Re: Duke 390: Long Term Ride Review
I see some people have already owned the Duke 390. I request any one those people to open a new thread and continue the discussion related to it on that thread. For ex - ownership experience, break-in method, service etc. I'm soo dying to see a KTM Duke 390 ownership thread!
I'll get to book mine only on January. So, till then, I would love to know more and more about the ownership experience.
