  • This happened to me twice.

1st instance - When i rode the duke out of the showroom till the nearest KFC. At the parking when i was taking the ticket.

    - Which bike? Bajaj?

    - I was used to comments when I had the ninja, so I was like no man, dont offend it by calling it a bajaj. Its a KTM.

    - Whats a KTM?

    - It stands for KaThMandu, in Nepal. Thats where this bike is made.

    - How much?

    - 1.3L

    - Should have bought a car for the same money. You can buy a Nano!

    - Yes, I know, Already own one ( I do own a Nano ).

    - Plastic body is useless, its gonna fall apart.

    - Yes, and thats exactly what I have paid 1.3L for, to watch it shred itself to bits.

2nd Instance - When I went to get the air in the tyres changed to nitrogen ( Though 78 percent of the air inside was still nitrogen).

( One guys comes and starts thumping the tank ).

    - Bekar gaadi hai ( use less bike ).

    - I was like, Yes, And i like doing that kinda stuff. But please dont thump it, You are thumping my heart and my hard earned money. ( He felt ashamed )

    - How many gears?

    - 6

    - Useless again. Where will you use 6th gear?

By this time a crowd had gathered.

    - I replied. Yes you can, Don't worry if you would like to see, Ill take you for a spin. ( He backed out a little ). Then his partner goes, Dude this is a powerful bike, see its got a radiator even.

    - Another guy comes and starts wringing the throttle as if its his personal bike. I stopped his hand and said, "would you like if you bought a new car, and i went and started pressing the accelerator brake and clutch, or shifting gears while the car was parked? " He felt slightly ashamed, but knowing the doofus that they are, I doubt any of them learnt something.

I parked my cbr250 near a chats shop.. some guy comes in n fires d usual questions, later he says "u pay so much for d bike and get only one shock absorber at behind? Ur company is stingy and has cheated u by installing only one shock absorber at rear I was shocked and took some time n said "may b u r right, may b that's dressing many bikes chassis broke " he was so happy that he might have smiled till home after his genius suggestions

        • This happened today...
i was coming back from a leisure off-roading ride to the a property (my uncle owns in the outskirts of the city)when a inocent villager saw me.. he would have been watching me for a long time...
he waved for me to stop..

Villager - Bhau, ikde kay karto tumhi (what are you doing here)
Me - Asach ikde phirayla challo ahe (nothing much, just roaming arround)
Villager - highway tikde ahe (highway is there- pointing towards the highway)
me - ho mahiti ahe. He majhi zamin ahe ani ikde mi baghayla aala hoto (I politely said yes, i know. this property is mine and i have come for a visit)

Villager - (after staring at me for a couple of seconds and pointing towards my jacket) he kontha jacket ahe (which type of jacket is this)
me- he crash zalya varti protect karto (this jacket is meant for crash protection)

Villager (inocently)- aho, tumhi gaadi shikat ahe kay? tumhala highway bara padnaar (so you are still learning to ride? the highway will be better for learning)

I simply thanked him and turned arround

I stopped at juice centre once to quench my thirst. Soon one sumo came with some persons in it. They came out and spotted the bike and me near it. They got curious and started asking me about the bike.

            1st person : Imported?
            me : NO, Indian
            2nd person : how much?
            me : 1.34L
1st person : That much? whats so special in this? (asking very sarcastly as if i was a fool to buy such a bike)
my answer : If the bike wouldnt have been special, u wouldnt have asked me anything.

And i soon left the place.

One more incident at a sugarcane juice on road side. This time some persons there started asking:

1st person : look, imported bike.
2nd person : must be honda.
1st person : no, it looks like yamaha
3rd person : nahi re, it might be kawasaki, See KTM is written on it.
2nd person : lets ask owner, (turning to me) which company?
            me : Bajaj
2nd : BAJAJJJ???? But nowhere its written.
me : (In my mind : Even other company names which were said were also not written) Ya, bajaj has 47% share in KTM and launched it recently.

They were so surprised at the name Bajaj. As if they were not believing that bajaj could make/release such a bike.
            Very well answered bro
People dont know about duke/KTM and get surprised to see and give crazy comments and so Dukes are most popular in this thread

A lot of people like to thump on the panels and even will tilt bike to look for exaust, every time have to swallow the anger with difficulty. And some times their questions are annoying. Even after all we are spending our money and not theirs.

                      Situation - Traffic Stop

My ride - KTM Duke 200

I stop next to this guy on a HH Splendor... He taps me on the shoulder and asks.. "Boss... Electric vehicle?"
Now I've been asked a hundred questions everyday but never this one and I don't understand why .
So I say "No it isn't.. Why do you ask?". He grins and says "No Silencer".. I point it him and look at him and we both burst out laughing...
Live to ride.. ride to forget..

A guy saw me coming on my bike (cbr250). He asked me, boss kitna mileage deti hai.. I replied..around 32-35.. as if he got disgusted & said.. Hutt..!! Phir kya fayda ye bike ka.. Just show hai... I realized how worst crime I have committed buying this bike..
Though, I politely said.. Sir, it performs also slightly better.. He confidently argued.. wo theek hai yar, pur mileage nahi hai na.. And his floor thankfully came..

This is why I don't entertain such questions; I usually say "if I were to be concerned about FE, I'd be riding XXX bike & not this bike"

Actually I tend not to argue with this people.. As they are right asking this questions, based on the 'scope' of thoughts they been living with.
For them 50-70 could be the acceptable average, for us, 30-35 is good..
