Xperia J is no more available in shops, I think they have stopped the production. Maybe you have to buy it online or from the remaining stock left.
Its not a good phone as far as I know. Its vey sluggish in performance. It might be the reason, they stopped the production very early.
May be you should buy the new Xperia L, though it costs a little more.

you said what I wanted to as I have been having plans to buy an Xperia L itself but as my main intention is photography, I wanted to ask how sony xperia J is and yes it has been stopped and I think we get xperia U now. . . So, I thought if I get a good camera cellphone in a lesser price by sony itself, I would go for it. . .

      Cheers!!!

as the owner of 2 xperia phones, i would not recommend them to you..
the battery life will kill your mood every now n then..
if you don't care about that and still want a good camera phone from sony, try xperia P.. awesome camera.. 8MP.. and full metallic body..

Anything that is smart, is not so smart when it comes to battery life. With moderate usage your battery stays for a maximum of one day.
I use an iPod touch, all I do is accessing forums with the forum app, other than that a little browsing. The battery stays for, just a day.
My friend uses a galaxy note, he has another phone to make calls and note is just for internet usage.

            true..
if the battery is drained with usage, then its no problem.. but when it dies in the standby mode by only being connected to the net, then it sure hurts..

According to what I know, I think Xperia P is also stopped, so it leaves me to only one option, Xperia L and may be another with a bit better i.e., Xperia SP. . . Personally, I liked the design and other things of Xperia L over Xperia SP. . . I am not such a heavy user to get the battery drained off quickly, I will be mainly using it for photography, other than that may be games very very occasionally and browsing, which I will be doing at home, cos at office, I have internet to browse there. . . BTW I have another cellphone i.e., Sony ericcson w705 which I can use it for other purposes. . . I was thinking about galaxy grand and xperia L earlier but now after seeing both, I just like xperia L over grand, as I have been using sony from the very first time that I got a cellphone. . . I just need more info about it's camera and video recording, etc., thanks in advance. . .

Thats what happened with me.. Went to Chroma to buy Grand, helplessly.! cause it was the only one in my budget (~18k) & wanted atleast a 8MP, 1Ghz, 1GB RAM. But then in the store i saw the Xperia L, which met my all requirement & look wise was much better than the grand(plasticky). Finally got myself the Xperia L & happy with it. Been around 2 weeks now. Battery life lasts over a day, with full time internet connection (2G), games, calls. Build quality is anytime better than the grand, IMO

that's cool and congrats on your purchase. . . I am looking forward to buying it by the mid/end of this month. . . As much as I have heard from people, xperia L is a better cellphone than grand in many aspects. . . You can help me out by telling more about it, like won't we get that shaky pictures, i.e., image stabilizer, how is it and what about night time or evening time when there will be less sunlight, how will the photos come out then. . ? BTW which colour you got, I am planning for white one. . ?

                  Cheers!!!

Any day you can trust Sony for its sound quality and camera. This is what I felt all these years. Like you said P, U all are discontinued models.
So go ahead and get the Xperia L.

, I started off with sony ericcson w300i and then got myself a w705, which I am using it presently, other than that I have a Nokia E51 which almost all the time will be at home as I don't like to use it that much, so will get this. . .

The image quality is descent. Even am a first time Sony user, last 2 phones where Samsung, but then all later ones look no different.! There are some nice features in the stock camera app like color filter, hdr & some effects. Though from playstore you can get such camera apps too. It has image stabilizer on/off feature, a nice notification LED in the bottom, which will blink for notifications. While viewing photos from the gallery, the led color will change as per the image. Sound is brilliant. I have uploaded some recent pix of ride to Alibaug in my Facebook album ([email protected]), in case you want to have a look at..

Since a lot of dicsussion is going on the Xperia range. I would like to give my view (1.5 years of usage). I own Xperia Neo V (1Ghz processor, 512MB RAM).

                            *Display is crisp and clear.
*Image quality suffers badly in night.
*Video recording is awesome. It is HD.
*Processor sucks big time and the phone lags too much. Many apps just crash the moment i turn on the internet or Wi-Fi.
*512MB RAM takes a beating and this takes a toll on the phone.
*Screen freezes sometimes when soneone calls or while making a call.
*Battery has gone kaput in just 1.5 yr of usage (its swollen).

I hope its not the same with current Xperia range.

                            Cheerz!!
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

Its bound to happen to any smart phones, if we don't stay with the pack. For the current apps in the market, to work properly needs at least 1 GB of RAM.
Most of the problems you have citied is due to the 512 MB RAM I think.
I experience the same, old apps work easily. New apps or updates apps leads to sluggish behavior. As example, Old version of Google chrome was running smoothly, but as I update it every time the app loading time increases, uses up more of the batt power. Because as more and more features are incorporated to the apps the Small capacity RAM cannot take it.
Eventually its good for manufacturers, as we end up upgrading the phone.

I guess, to increase the sales of newer version of phones, they tend to squeeze features in older version.
