Good decision man! You'll end up enjoying the bike so much more.. I was going to upgrade to a CBR or Ninja, but once i experienced the big-bore kit, i'm plannin to get the rest of the parts now..

Areu getting all the parts in one go?

I wish I could get all in one go! Its the big bore and head-work first! And I already have the Simota filter.

                • Fuel Efficiency

The only time that I ever bothered to check what the fuel efficiency is when the bike is new. I check the fuel efficiency for a couple of times and then settle into a regular budgeted amount of money per month for the bike. That budget then becomes the yard stick to know if I getting the round about the same fuel average or not (yes, my bike running per month is fairly constant). If I spend more in a particular month and I have not done any extra running I know that I got a lower fuel economy and if I spend less that only happens when I am traveling out of town and the bike is sitting idle.

So, when the big bore and the associated parts were swapped I did not bother to check the fuel economy as I was still spending the same amount of money that I had for the stock bike. By this yard stick I knew that I was getting around about the same fuel economy. When the fuel prices hit roof recently I was prepared about a 7 - 10% increase in my fuel budget. However, much to my astonishment I found my spending did not change. That perked my curiosity as to what is the actual fuel efficiency being given by this engine build. I have now checked the fuel economy twice using the full tank to reserve method.

The engine build has the following currently:

                  1. Big Bore 165cc Kit.
                  2. High Flow Air Filter.
                  3. Revised Cylinder Head.
                  4. Free Flow Exhaust.
                  5. Racing Valve Springs.
                  6. High Performance Camshaft.
                  7. Racing Clutch Springs.

                  First Tank of Fuel:
                  Top up: 8 liters
                  Trip meter reading: 374 kms
                  Fuel Economy: 46.75 km/l

                  Second Tank of Fuel;
                  Top up: 7.5 liters
                  Trip meter reading: 345 kms
                  Fuel Economy: 46 km/l

That is highly commendable when you consider that this fuel economy has been achieved in Mumbai rush hour traffic and with an engine build which makes far more torque and power than the stock engine.

CBR 250, new R15, nnaaa... I think I will stick with my R16... I may buy another stablemate for the R16, but this bike will stay with me for a long time to come...

                  • The fuel economy is simply fantastic! On an Xbhp G2G with 2 CBRs and 2 Ninjas, they needed to fill-up at the point where he headed back to Bangalore, but on my R165 the fuel gauge jus dropped ONE bar! I usually get about 40 - 42kmpl in the city, and I got 49kmpl on a ride to Hyderabad. The bike couldn't make me happier, because anything around 30 - 35kmpl is adequate for the kind of performance it puts to the blacktop!

                    • Fantastic mileage there. I will also have to check mine and report. (But, I am sure it did not drop than before! )

@Abhimanyu - If I am not wrong, you also had the ECU on your bike. I think you forgot to put it here!

                      • GoPro Hero HD Camera

Finally, after almost a month and a half, I got my GoPro Camera. So that is one part done. However, the second part i.e. the data logger is still to come. The G-tech Pro Fanatic RR is on back order and the window of opportunity has passed (my cousin was traveling from U.S. to U.K. and I could have picked up from there during my recent trip). My cousin searched for it high and low looking for resellers but to no avail. So no choice but to wait . For people who are thinking why it can't be shipped direct, it is so because the G-tech website has a verification process whereby it will ship only to the card's billing address and Indian cards are not accepted . So the only other choice is Ebay and I am not comfortable with that. I will wait for another month and see how it plays out otherwise will go for the V-box Racelogic. The main attraction of the G-tech is the way it presents its power data akin to a dyno chart, otherwise the Racelogic is way superior (and expensive too).

Initial impressions of the GoPro camera: it is small!!! The packing and the waterproof housing are deceptive. I bet that most people who open the packing and the remove the camera from the waterproof housing will be taken by surprise as how small the camera is. The camera comes with the following:

However, the camera is NOT ready to use right out of the box. A SD card (32 GB max) is required for recording and is NOT included with the camera. Once the packing was opened I also realised that there is no view finder on the camera to take photos. For people who are thinking of using it as a substitute for their Cybershots, think again. Though there is an optional detachable LCD panel that acts as the view finder (and requires a different size waterproof case, again optional). In order to get the max out of the camera this accessory is a must, so will need to order that now. In the meantime will wait for a dry weekend to tryout the camera on the bike. Will try and post a review of the same as and when it happens.

                        So the wait continues....

                            • ^^^ Nothing much, completed 3,500 kms. The bike is running just fine. Starts on the first start and runs like a bat out of hell. Have decided to finally go in for the Racelogic data acquisition solution. But, will need to wait for a while as I have also got to go in for a medical surgery ... the unplanned expenses always put the spanner in the works .....
