Joel, just a newbies question- if you can do so many performance mods while still keeping the emission and mileage true to design then why are the manufacturers shying from doing this? They could have done this easily and numbers like you have presented here would surely sell, why isn't it happening?

mods cost money.a honda cbr with the mods joel's done might not sell for 1.5lac inr.honda tuning might be optimized for long life, optimum power with minimal wear and tear;possibly.Originally posted by sparky View PostJoel, just a newbies question- if you can do so many performance mods while still keeping the emission and mileage true to design then why are the manufacturers shying from doing this? A layman answer - Honda cant be bothered. They think you will buy whatever they give you
You want more, go get from someone

May be a layman's answer; but, I do tend to agree with @senotrius. Its a balance between power & long engine life.Originally posted by darkside_of_d_sun View PostA layman answer - Honda cant be bothered. They think you will buy whatever they give you

Say the engine produces a massive 30Bhp yet the life of the engine is say about 5 years (which is still OK considering the current growth trend in motorcycle as lifestyle segment), the larger group (who don't keep changing the bike as years pass by) will start complaining & the entire model is termed FAILURE.
Also the maintenance of the vehicle, instead of 6K might come down to, say 3K, it still disappoints a group (count me).
That said, there's room for improvement with every product, be it Boxer or Busa. And not necessary that everyone should mod nor every mod can short live that life span of the vehicle.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Dont agree. Could only apply to Royal Enfield but even they do make an attempt at engineering even if the results are not very different from the past. The rest of the companies, do try.Originally posted by darkside_of_d_sun View PostA layman answer - Honda cant be bothered. They think you will buy whatever they give you
