      Welcome to Mahindra 2 Wheelers

Mahindra 2 Wheelers Showroom : Motorcycles : Comet
They have had Aquila and Comet listed in their website since donkeys ages !! Even before Kinetic was taken by M&M. But any enquiry bout comet wud have them start peddling the Blaze to you !! But come to think of it, they can very well re introduce the Comet !! In the fully faired GTR avatar if possible !!
But seriously the bike I'd really want them to get here is the Aquila 650 !! It'd be a perfect tourer for India !! God, I'd buy the first one !!
Kawasaki Ninja : Because lazy sunday afternoons should be despatched at 160 kmph!!!
Hyosung Aquila : Because sometimes you need to look cool while riding at 40 kmph and you can do that only on a cruiser !!!

      • ^Even the Comet 650 makes sense. The 250 sold for Under Rs 2 lakh. Abroad, the 650 is hardly double the cost of the 250, which means in India, they can very well sell for less than Rs 4 lakh : Rs 4 lakh for a legal 650cc!!

If you are reading this M&M kindly reintroduce comet..it will kill everything else in the performance segment(if launced at previous prices)

Maybe not just that, There was an ad in yesterday's newspaper for dealers/franchiseees/distributor(whatever forgot the exact word) for their entry into 2 wheelers.

Bajaj did not create any hype. All the hype was created by bikers with their rumours. Bajaj never made any commitment.

And yes, HH is doing wonders with the Zma. They manage to sell an outdated product in impressive numbers. It is not a miracle. It is a decently reliable machine.

Yamaha cannot bring out a 250 that will excite you. They do not have one good enough for the streets. There is the relatively new single mill YBR 250 which is a meagre 21Bhp which will not be enough for you 2007 Yamaha YBR 250 specifications and pictures.

Then you have the wrx 250 which is a very exciting bike in a Supermotard style. This bike looks like a descendant of the TTR with 31Bhp at 128 kilos but I doubt this is your cuppa either at around INR 4L! Tests YAMAHA WRX-250 | Motors TV I personally love this bike... perfect for our conditions, will go EVERYWHERE and go there fast, be it Nehru Place or Ladakh. I have ridden the TTR. I know how exciting these things are.

What do you call a "Huge demand"? Give me numbers man. How many people will buy a INR 2.5L 250CC?

              For another 125CC!

There, one dose of this thread in the morning and I have digested my breakfast!
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Im not criticizing the zma.. all im saying is that they need to upgrade it.. people do no have options left so hence they go ahead with the zma..

I hope they bring out the WRX-250 for India as an R series, just like they did the Vixion in the R15! That would surely excite me!

They would not do that I think as this is a single cylinder 5 geared 250cc MotoCross OffRoad Bike.

If they do bring a YZF-250R it will be a dual cylinder setup with 6 gears. Don't you think so?

EDIT: Unlike the R15, the 250 would be a bike to counter the global Ninja 250. That would be mean horsepower would be anywhere between 30-33 (beginner level motorcycle hp limit in most countries).
But then since it is a global bike, it would mean more after market parts and tuning options! Already dreaming!

I agree. That WRX won't be much use for an R-Series. We know R15 engine came from long stroking the R125's cylinder ...

How about using the same R125 engine, with attaching 2 similar cylinders in inline setup directly? Remember that 700cc enfield from 2 RE 350's?

Since R125 gives some 15 bhp, the 250 may be tuned to give some 30 bhp @ higher revs, on some crankshaft change, etc ... Crankshaft change would be necessary anyways, as this time it's 2 cylinders.

                          What do you say guys?

To make it an economic feasibility you need numbers. You cannot sit on your haunches and just bring out a bike speculating people have deep pockets. We were clamouring for Superbikes. The R1 came here 18 months ago. How many R1s sold? Less than 200. In a population of 1.3Billion!!!

I was part of a survey with Bajaj some months ago when they were seriously thinking of bigger bikes. The estimate that the survey had come out with for a 250 twin mill at INR 2.5L was less than 4000 buyers in a calendar year. And that is an optimistic figure. Do you think that that makes economic sense to set up shop here? There is NO huge demand. There is "some" demand currently. And this will gradually grow as people will become progressively less conservative.
