Thinner wire = lesser current
but the thing is, thinner wire can be wound more number of times on the same pole.
so it turns out to give more voltage.
if you use a 35 guage wire (very thin), and wind it across your bullet's stator, the bike can produce 230v with ease, but the amps will be very low.
similarly, if you use a thicker wire, the voltage would remain around 12 and it can give you 10 amps.
use 18 guage wire, it will do the job of running 2 hids with ease.
BTW, your battery is not a 5 volt battery, its 12v only.
its rated 5 amperes, not voltage.
and if you wish to run 2 hids, you'll have to change your battery to a 9 amp one.

. Rahul..could you make it more clear?
