Yamaha FZ16-The Discussion Thread

Greetings fellow members!!

Booked me bike on the 5th of Jan from Excellent Yamaha (Mumbai)
Test rode an orange FZ and booked the black beast...wait time of 25-30 days...was confused between red and black....wait time of 45 days for the red beast...that helped me decide the color!! waiting for delivery day!!

Will keep logging entries in regular intervals...m sure we have a winner on our hands!

i went to panache motors, CMH road, indira nagar, Bangalore yesterday they are saying delivery can be done in 5 days, but they are charging hefty interest of 13%.

Guyz de FZ16 is de byk that has put Yamaha back on the map. So i think de company should launch performance upgrades for this particular byk. R15 is a true performance machine but de FZ is no slouch in its own territory. These both byks hav what it takes to giv each other a run for its money. With amazing R&D facilities its not a difficult task for a company like Yamaha. With de help of their various racing products manufacturers like GYTR, Mikuni, Kayaba, Ohlins coming up with such racing upgrades wont b difficult. So as a FZ owner its my humble request to other Fz owners n Xbhp authorities to take up a polling sessions to see de response n i m sure de results will b satisfactory.

FZ is a typical Indian street bike, enjoy it for now.. Yamaha in coming years will launch new bikes.. For now just enjoy

The waiting period of 45 days is just a marketing gimick.. the demand of R15 has come down after the launch of FZ.. and FZ's demand will also come down after some time..

But yes, I guess auto manufacturers do that to make people think the bikes are selling like hot cakes.

Riding FZ for a week now.. new bike and owner behind so not started ripping yet But bikes good for city use, enjoying a lot while riding.. but will be a pain in the a$$ for the pillion.. i didn't find the rear seat comfortable or is it i am not used being a pillion rider

hey mee too booked my FZ today just an Hr back thats true they can provide you the bike within 5-10 working days if full amount is paid.thats what i did.

The rate of interest quoted to you must be for the loan & not as a premium for the bike. The bike is available off the shelf these days. I enquired at 2 dealerships & both of them have ready stock. If you are making a full cash down payment, you can have the bike in 2 days, if you are taking a loan then it takes about 4 to 5 days for the loan approval itself, once the loan is approved you can get it it about 2 days time. I'll be booking mine tomorrow, only the colour needs to be decided, its either red or black.

I will cause some turmoil here, but an honest review... I know people will blame me to be a RTR fanboy for this, but take it or leave it... just my two cents...

As some of you know, I got an access to FZ duly serviced and through with run in.... I was so happy....

Infact on my ride back to home, I enjoyed every bot of that heavy traffic riding!

Then I decided to take it to my office commute (150KMs a day round trip) and I was so bored of it! I mean, I had seen somebody ripping the bike in the lonavala ride, even topping it to 12X speeds.... but I just couldnt take this thing beyond 108 (with a pillon)... the ride from 96 odd to 108 was as boring as a Splendour!
I dont know if I have a freak bike or what but it was really insanely boring.... especially when compared to my RTR which can do that in a gear lesser! but yes it vibrates the hell off you!

What I liked in the bike
1) The Big Bike feel
2) Amazing Handling
3) Stunning looks
4) Superb Braking!
5) The light weight!

What I disliked in the bike
1) The lights go all over the place ( i think this can be controlled)
2) A sad powerband,..
3) The worst ever RVMs ever seen! What was Yamaha trying to do!
4) The la-Hunk plasticy feel
5) Cant wear Knee Pads! it cause scratches!

Even FZ has vibration problems, now this is news for me!!

When i had a test ride of the FZ(2 times), i was not expecting fireworks but it came back satisfied.Had this feeling that the power would taper off at higher speeds, which most of people have even experienced.The bike is only meant for the streets, so much so for the 'punch line'!!

i spoke to pacer motors at bangalore, they told me yellow FZ can be made available at 5K extra as stated earlier here. But that would be locally painted, although it wont void the warranty.

though my frnd told me you can get same color done for 1600 - 2k lol

Oye if you are saying that based on my comment, then sorry! I was referring to the max speed that i could achieve on the FZ as compared to the speed on the RTR within 4th gear and with vibes

heyyy..its been 24 days since i booked me bike and yet I havent received me bike delivery! Booked it at Excellent Yamaha, they suck!! Everytime I call 'em, they keep telling me give us 5 more days...

I got mine in just 2 days. Quite contradictory to what I earlier said, I booked an ORANGE colour, it's not bad at all. Its actually kind of metallic rust colour. I've ridden it for only about 60 kms in the city & it has been a delight to ride. The gearbox is much better than my P180 classic, the engine is smooth, it feels very light & easy to manouever. Not taken it to 60 + speeds, I may do that today, as I'm going to Electronic City for some
work.
