Hi Guys...
With very sad & heavy heart i have to put it here that i m not satisfied with my bikes mileage.. earlier i was not keeping eye on Digi meter.. as i never run my bike in reserve... but from few days i keep envy on my meter & decided to go with reserve to reserve postion method to calculate my current mileage.. but damn!!! its coming around 38.94 to round up 39* KMPL only...
* Petrol filled 3.95 ltr, Reseve A 495.00 Reserve B 648 (. something) thus coming 38.94KMPL
* Category :- Normal Petrol. (no premium this time)
Guys any tips or any advise .. is it beacuse i m using unleaded normal petrol.. as earlier i always use to top-up with premium petrols only....The Art of Safe Riding http://www.ridesafewith.me/

Its a decent mileage wht you r getting.. anythin around 40 +/- 2 is good for a 180 cc bike .. We can further improve it with some sane riding style..
I m also gettin somethin between 38-40.. i had to cope with lot of traffic also .. so i guess its jus fine afaik..
Recently i shifted to Motul 3000 15W50 .. and i m now enjoying the outcomes... as bike clocks 4500 will shift to SS Motul...
Its the best for our baby..

As i know riding style matters a lot and affect/effects on mileage accordingly.. seeking below i can expect +4 to +5 more than what i m getting.. (i guess) as :-
1) I have to pass with not less then 1000 jerks on a daily basis (Home-office-Home)
2) within 6 km range i have to undergo with atleast 4-5 red lights...
3) Lot of hell like traffice where all literate (read no il-literate or hand rikschaw/ or any Haant gaadi - thela
in between) all are Professional & service class people who madly put a slient road a mess .. as to them "Be first at any how & at any cost" matters a lot
4) Ripping really very hard
5) keep on 70-80 (Shoot as soon as light glow green
)
6) Chain / sprocket / engine / all together all body parts are not cleaned up & i can see atleast 1 cm of dust every where (except on handle & seat)
Alltogether i m really sane rider & keeps my beast very clean but from last 1 month i guess i couldnt get a chance to take her to bath
due to office timings pressure.. thus i think i need to change my attitude of riding & should not rip hard & drag always.. i m about to complete my 2000KM mark so will be clearing all above impurties then & there itself..hope it helps..

With Zig-Zag riding, you can only expect 35-40kmpl from a 180cc bike. Anyways, get your bike serviced and straight forwardly you will see a change in mileage.Originally posted by himanshumm View PostHi Guys...

Hi friends,
@himanshu-i think 38~40 mileage is OK for the riding conditions u mentioned.I think pulsars' mileage range is way too large...
@abhi-hey can u provide pics of those graphics???
@all- My bike,Before retuning my carb coupl f days back,i used to get 28~30kmpl! Even after retune it reached only 33...So i mailed bajaj about the issue and also about engine oil query since showroom ppl strongly suggested 15w40 for big pulsars(180+cc). In the mean time, the Later days, i put rs50,30,50 petrol just over the reserve just to check wat mileage i'm gettin..Surprisingly i got 65,25,<dont know> kms respectively..Also i found that my bike returned less than 25kmpl whenever i ride at 60+km!But for speeds of 40~50kmph,i got 45+kmph(actually i got 60+km but i'm still unable to believe it). i'm thinking carb tuning that was done to wasn't good and consistent enough. This holds good atleast for my bike(for my carb adjustments)...Coming back to the mail to bajaj,i got reply 4m bajaj(both email and sms) as well as 4m showroom, the showroom guy called me,told me to come to showroom to get the mileage checked, so i'm getting it done tomo...
Also one more thing-i poured in motul 3000 4T Semi Synth 15w50 oil replacing the 4day old shell semisynth 10w40 yesterday.Although i've kept the shell oil unused at house for emergency use..

Yeah bro forgot to mention I changed to Motul 3000 at 2500km ..Originally posted by lockhrt999 View Postchange oil at 2000 also
Now speedo reads 3200 kms after 2 service done.... SO will change the oil at 3rd service...
One issue which is bothering me is the movement of rear wheel.. when the bike was new rear wheel used to rotate only few rotation when pushed from hand.. the movement was not free... jammed like..
After i told Sc guys abt this at my 2nd service the problem disappeared for few days .. now it seems tob e back again.. How can i fix this ...
are those brake shoes too tight which is further sropping the free movement of the rear wheel..??

@Born Free.. I was also facing same situation,, but i guess when i slightly untight the brake liner bolt , lubricated the Sprocket , tighten the chain tensioner.. somewhat i achived a comfort level as rotation got a bit more smoother then earlier..
I dont know how much this will help u ... better to ask SC guy or any mechanic for proper & permanent solution.. as sometime its normal but if rotation is very hard then it may hamper
1) Sprocket / Chain tension
2) Mileage
3) Brake shoe
4) Brake LinerThe Art of Safe Riding http://www.ridesafewith.me/

I have few query
1) During servicing i told SVC plp not to change engine oil as i had already changed to motul 5100, they told me that it will void engine warranty and they will write in Bike manual, So i told them that i want speak to works manager regarding this, he told me that they need some record that engine oil is changed and you are using genuine and proper grade oil, so my question is do changing oil from outside void warranty.
2) what is change period for engine oil( btw i am using Motul 5100 )
3) which is very good chain lube and polish for our bike( where can i get in Mumbai)
