      • Thanx Himangshu da...

        I m frm kolkata...

Soon i will be posting my bike pics... I hav changed the sparks to Irridium and engine oil to Motul 5100 15w50 oil...

But i m looking forward for installing the oil cooler system of P220 to the bike.. But bajaj guys say contradictory words... some says it can be installed, some says not, some says too costly... but i really want an appropiate answer...

I m a tourer... hence oil cooler is very effective for long drives... Plz suggest... thanx in advace...

Arrey, I just passed through Delhi city while coming from Haridwar Kumbh. I was with my family, but, the thought of calling you did came to my mind, but, the horrifying traffic did'nt allowed me to do so.

Great Tan, see with my limited knowledge can give advise that not to change air cool to Oil cool systed (technically can be done) but wont get it right for long terms, i mean if you ask anybody will advise you to stick to stock system, as the air cooled engines are developed keeping the environment temprature in mind .. converting to oil cooled will cost you more and it would be after market upgrade thus will void warranty,
In any case if you tour a long duration .. follow these
            1) Take breaks for every 50 -60 min of ride or 40-50 km whichever is earlier.
            2) Dont throw water on engine so as to keep it cool. will tear your engine (not immediately but slowly & gradualy will do its job)
            3) Use Engine Oil as recommended & change it after every 2000-3000 km or evern before as u wish
            4) Put Semi-synthetic oils will planning any long trip during summer or at very hot temprature.
            5) Get your sprocket/ chain, Chain-tension / brake system , gears ,clutch plate etc lubricated & serviced as applying any one of above in dry situation will definately heat up your engine..

PS: Pl do refer a thread [Help]: How to determine if an engine is overheating not sure or guarantee you but might help u..

Let me know if that helps..

Yes, the mod can be done with following parts replaced\newly fitted:

              1) Oil cooler radiator + inlet\outlet oil pipes
              2) Clutch cover of 220
              3) gasket, few minor parts.
Total cost might be around 4000rs.

Ever care to fly down here to hyd,i'll show what exactly "Heavy traffic and Mindless driving/riding" means.
My place is just 100km from hyd normally in the early morning it would take 2-hrs exactly to reach there, but it took me 4 long hours to reach there,i was sweating like pig in the traffic in the evening time,it took 2hrs to reach the destination (15km)after entering the city, imagine then.

As you mentioned that your bike is tuned for mileage, that itself means running on a Lean AFR.

                        • I think my whole headlight assembly vibrates on big digs sometimes it even makes sound...it got loosen some weeks after second servicing...
also I'm not happy with front headlight...High beam is useless, it always goes parallel to road...I even unscrewed that beam adjustment screw but no success...what are other options ?
Can I put 55w or bigger bulb in? how much it will cost ?

                          • 2 months anninversary

hi guys.. hows it goin with your steeds?.. mine is doin great. IRONHIDE completes 2nd month with me today have ridden 3400kms till now, have purchased motul5100, waitin for the weekend to come, would have used the motul mineral for about 1700kms by then, will change to the semisynth..
saw someone talking about delhi traffic glad tht you appreciate our daily endeavour of cutting through it.
personally, i drive 27X2=54 kms to and fro office evryday(delhi to gurgaon) . the rage and the frustration due to the traffic does give rise to sessions of "free-biking" (remeber p200 ka first ad) sometimes, and its fun

one question: has anyone been using the motul's chain lube or cleaner? could anyone throw some light on whether they are worth the 450 bucks each ??
cheaper alternatives are gladly welcome.. offlate due to the heat and dryness the chain has started getting filthy pretty soon and that impacts the acceleration substantially i feel.. atleast the smoothness is definitely impacted.
                            peace.

Sad to hear that Lockhrt.. but that's the only screw for adjusting the beams. in any case if this doesnt work for you .. visit nearest mechanic and ask to open the headlight assembly & adjust the projection accordingly (Glass & bulb adjustment) ... also it is possible for upgrading to 55w bulbs... even i m thinking to.... i guess it shouldnt cost much than 900-1200 depends on which brand u are opting for.. i have options in my list
                              1) Osram (night braker)
                              2) Philips
                              3) or Chinese (least concern but may think in case budget gets out of control )

In case u get it first do post your experience with it
