Oh not that one. This one is when the engine is running and the frequency of the noise is proportional to the engine speed (rpm). I am under the impression its the valve/tappet noise which increases once the engine is hot.Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostThat is Catalytic converter cooling noise.
On the left side, the noise comes from where the magnet assembly is rotating (which can be seen from that viewing glass)

I didn't do FULL tuning, i started from the point where the mech left,it was lil bit on the leaner side,so i turned the screw anti-clockwise to get the best point,i got the point but it was lil bit on the richer side, again played with it and now i have locked a best point today.Beat is normal, acceleration is crisp, pickup is awesome.Originally posted by Prabhakar150 View PostHi. Have u noticed how many turns it was. I Have a doubt. Complete turns means 180 degree or 360 degree rotation of screw makes it complete? After i tuned mine, it was 3 turns with 180 rotation of screw.
i did have the thup-thup sound when the mech tuned it,it was on lean side, now its normal.-------------------------------

Yes, when my bike was running rich,i used to hear this sound after every ride.Originally posted by VD17 View Postwell.
By the way, has anyone noticed a sound from the left side of the engine where (i assume) the magnet assembly is rotating? This sound becomes more prominent when engine is warmer (higher engine idling) and so does a clicking noise from the right side I have heard it on other pulsars as well. Anyone else hearing it on their UG4s?
Engine idling was higher after the ride.
Now that my bike is optimally tuned i don't hear it anymore.-------------------------------

Damn these svc guys! I have had it with these suckers.
Too lean or too rich mixture, get the carburetor re-tuned. Get to the SC kick on their a** to get the right mixture. Otherwise, you will keep on crying and we will keep on telling you to re-tune the carburetor every time.

LOL. Yeah, man. By the way, the fuel smell is also related to that only?Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostToo lean or too rich mixture, get the carburetor re-tuned. Oh well, it is another of the Bajaj SVC screw-up. Before one of my last visits, I had a problem which is not very rare. If I left my bike in the sun for a few hours, it would stop after going a few metres and wouldn't start for 2-3 minutes thereafter. I told this to them and the mech said that it is an issue of pressure building up in the tank. It made sense cause I faced a similar issue on my friends' bikes 2-3 times earlier. However, he went ahead and adjusted the breather hole in the fuel filler cap. Now the petrol smell actually emanates from the cap itself. It gets prominent after a ride since the petrol is stirred around in the tank.Originally posted by ceasar View PostYes it is.
God knows how much mileage I'm losing cause of this. I'll report it on my next visit to the SVC for servicing at 2K. I have done 1550kms.
Had to take a long ride today and the bike felt brilliant. And yes, this time I tuned the carb myself. Seems almost perfect. Acceleration, power, heating all very acceptable.
And I also lubed the chain myself yesterday. Big difference. The 90-grade oil I could lay my hands on was Mobil1 Gear Oil 80W-90. No noise from the chain at all!

Very Bad! I must say. The fairing on my 220FI also vibrates like hell. And the fairing material itself feels tobe lacking quality. It looks like the fairing is made of some CHINA plastic. The ride is smooth but there are alot issues which arise time by time consistently with 220 (or atleast this happens with me at each service of 220).Originally posted by lockhrt999 View Postyesterday my neighbor bought a P220 and I had chance to ride it. I noticed that fairing felt too cheap and was vibrating like anything. Other than that the ride was very smooth so was gear shifting. It was torquey.
so Pulsar's suspensions get stiffer over time ?
IMO, the Pulsars suspension gets spongy with time and mileage.

this problem is persistent with other breeds also,my rear fender shakes like hell every time bike hits potholes.......-------------------------------

Maybe with a few Pulsars of other breed too have some rattling issues. But, with every non-taped 220 you could hear fairing vibrating like a china made bike. The 180 and even 150 outperforms 220 in terms of rattling issues.Originally posted by ceasar View Postthis problem is persistent with other breeds also,my rear fender shakes like hell every time bike hits potholes.......

yeah it really feels made in china. Also fairing corners keep poking into your knees. Now I see the reason behind good selsl of 220S.Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostVery Bad! I must say. It's with every pulsar. The problem fender is very tall and heavy.Originally posted by ceasar View Postthis problem is persistent with other breeds also,my rear fender shakes like hell every time bike hits potholes.......
what rattling noise we are talking here? 220 fairing create noise too?Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostMaybe with a few Pulsars of other breed too have some rattling issues. Not with my Pulsar. I have owned a 150 Classic, currently 180 and 220, but no fender noises.

Like lock noise, dial noise, the foot pegs vibrating at a particular rpm....
