    2) and can i use my used motul 5100 to lubricate the chain???
no u cant use it. it is meant for engine lubrication only.instead use chain spray.

    in my case...

guys...help me please...yesterday tried to remove rim tapes from wheel, and it ended up in the removal of some powder coating. now what will do?...can i do some re-powder coating?is it available in golden color? what will be the coast? if it void my warranty?..

    • @arjunb25: That's sad to hear that the mechanics in your regional SC are not capable enough, I am sure that might be the cause of the problems that keeps on creeping-up.

      @andy118:

      1) It is true only for P220. Our P180 shares same spark-plug on both the sides.

      2) You can but only in emergency situations as the used engine oil contains tiny metal particles which makes the chain and sprocket wear out faster. Also, the engine oil does'nt has the stickiness to remain between the chain links on higher speeds and thus the engine oil is thrown out of the chain at higher speeds. While the gear oil is thick and remains stuck at the chain links.

      Hope above helps!

      @jasminerider:

I tried to remove the rim tapes by blade and the paint chipped off. From then on I never tried to remove those tapes although they look weird now but it is better than a chipped-off rim. If you want to remove those tapes then remove with your nails and a hairdryer.

No warranty void or any such thing; you can proceed with powder coating but untill you do it on whole rim it is just a waste of money.

      Thanks.

which chain spray is good? some guys says that tvs chain spray is good.
currently i am using diamond brand.

what about k&n specially designed filters for pulsar...here anyone know about it?
Yes, TVS chain spray is good .Its economical, sticks on for more time. But i would recommend sae 90 grade oil rather than spray.TVS chain spray would cost you Rs 290.

          +180.

Chain sprays are expensive. I have used w90 gear oil till now and the chain and sprockets have lasted a well over 20,000 kms. I don't think that the chain sprays make a significant difference in the performance and increasing life of the chain as much to spend almost 3 times the cost of gear oil.

P.S: I have used Motul chain spray on my brother's Apache 160 and yes it does its job well. I think that chain sprays are for those who does'nt have time to make their hands dirty and sit for those 5-10 mins oiling the chain.

Not really...i had tried using the TVS spray...And it was yuck than mushrooms covered in dog poop....Try OKS chain spray. Its economical and thick...comes for Rs 230 for the same size of the TVS Chain spray.

The difference is found in OKS is of properties and thickness. Give it a minute to dry off and it sticks for 500 odd kms!!! and ensures there is no noise... also if you look closely it even cleans the chain.....Diamond chain spray is another brand but not worth the value.... TVS is good but then you going to mess up the chain setup soon cz its not that thick and it penetrates through nuts and parts of the bike. Also its drips like crazy, i had a near miss when turning cz the spray had dripped all over the tire even after being wiped several times....the yellow liquid is not that thick.....

this is a personal suggestions so objections or advises would surely not be entertained like other threads....You can follow the TVS chain spray if you are satisfied but as an advice always go for tried and tested solutions...

Also my bike has clocked 30,000kms and i havent changed my chain sprocket assembly yet!!! its still going new...I use to use the same brand for my privious bike so using it for the current one!!!

            • ^^ +1. I too had a similar experience with the TVS chain lube.It really drips like crazy(even after giving it adequate time for drying).

              • Thanks for the post eshan!!I have never tried OKS spray but heard that its quite good. But, i couldn't get it at my place and had to settle for TVS chain spray, which i found it to better than motul and some other stuff, BUT NOT EXCELLENT.As u had rightly mentioned, it is quite thin in consistency.

Will surely try for OKS spray the next time.

dont know whether this brand is available here.will search it for sure. now my bike completed 10,000kms. since last service at 9500kms, bikes chain shows major vibrations, its very much noticeable especially in low speed. whenever used clutch vibration shoot up through my legs..kar...kar.. sound also coming out whenever taking a reverse.
i think my chain is gone,.
s.c says that it lasts only for 10 k.

Even i feel the same KAR KAR sound from my chain.Mine had done 15000kms till date,i feel the vibrations more when i engage my clutch.Guess we have the same problem here, huh.

Guys any inputs on how to overcome this problem without changing the chain??Is there any alignment that needs to be done?Because these SVC guys just tighten the chain and leave it without even inspecting it properly. Thanks in advance!!

                    • One thing must be cleared to all that open chains do make noise, if your chain makes noise then it does'nt means that the chain and sprocket are gone. Try and test ride a new bike and its chain will too make noise.

Just check the chain that it does'nt loose its slackness too early and the chain is good to go for. Although the sprocket does wear out faster in many cases and might be the cause of abnormal sound from chain.

What u have said is true abhi, about the chain making sound. But here we are experiencing vibrations all through our body.I really love the chain sound in pulsars, but the thing here is that more than the chain sound the entire rear of the bike is vibrating[ THE KAR KAR EFFECT] especially when the clutch is engaged and the bike is at low speed!!

This also happens when the chain is too tight, dirty and not oiled. Try loosening the chain. The sound must reduce and the vibrations should go away. Although my bike too has vibrations from chain but the chain and sprocket are well enough to continue.

yes..in my case to...same problem.we can feel the vibration in rear seat when the wheel is rotated putting center stand. sound comes from the front sprocket i think.
personally in my case also..like that chain sound.
but this is strange mann...not felt it earlier...

it was my first thought that the chain may be tight. but s.c mech checked it and adjusted once again. but problem not solved.

Exactly!!even i feel the vibrations more in the front sprocket, the rear is fine in my case.U can also notice that there is a jump in the chain when the bike is put on center stand and engaged in first gear!!I could also feel the vibartions in the gear rod when the clutch is engaged, maybe this is the reason i am experiencing hard gear shifts!!!???
