  • Tire Query***URGENT & IMPORTANT***

Hi a colleague of mine at office is offering the IRC tires of his 250R which has done 3000kms since he is going for a tire upgrade.

    4 Questions:-

    1) Can I fit the front and the rear tire of the 250R on my P180UG3 without any kind of adjustments?
    2) Does it make sense to buy 3000kms old IRCs? The maintains the bike very well though. Ridden the bike quite a few times.
    3) If yes is the answer for Q2, then how much should I quote him for the tires?
    4) Last question, although mileage drop is not an issue how bad will the performance be hit? I mostly ride on weekends at cruising speeds and seldom hit higher rpm.

Need help from you guys in deciding up and letting him know my final answer within the next 2-3 days.

***Disclaimer - I have posted this query in 2 other related thread so if you have already answered my query in another thread then please ignore it here as I'm simultaneously tracking all the treads where I have posted***

7,500 rs?..what happened to your stock one?
i like that 220 silencer personally. like to install that in my 180 also..but heard that its too heavy, then there will be a small decrease in mileage and, power.
install it,and see what happens, then it will be a trial for me.

if any one has done it share your review and also is it safe for the engines life to do so.
you said that you are going to sell this bike, then why do you bother about engine life?

buddy true did a bit research on this silancer matter came to a conclusion that what I have let me enjoy it well as I have said earlier I will sell but until and unless i get my final peace in hand.

No I love to maintain my bike I dont do anything or any research until and unless I am confirm about it.

Well wait is what I have to do here. Lest see bro.

          • Hi Guys

Ive been a silent spectator in this thread & im yet another proud owner of the pulsar 180 UG4 (black) ..its almost just two months & 1400km old
On reading the posts here about the problems with finding neutrals, hard gear shifts, vibs etc., im quite happy i havent come across anything lyk that..
Its my first bike & i love it.
Im on a trip tomorrow comprising 100km of plane road and 40 km of hills.. @1400km on the odo, is it advisable to drive on hilly terrains ? It'll be the first time im going to ride on hills..Please suggest.

            • UPDATE: Have completed 14000kms couple of days back and am waiting for the 2nd paid servicing. The last engine oil that i have used was motul 5100t.Well to tell you the truth, it was nothing more than just AVERAGE.What i felt with this oil was that the bike heats up pretty fast and u can smell some kind of burnt smell after the ride.Better to change the oil after 2000kms even if the shopkeeper tells u its gonna last 5000kms.On the Brighter side, it was way better than the infamous SVC oil.Today i have replaced this oil with valvoline premium 4t and within a few kilometers i could feel a lot of change. Will be able to comment only after a weeks time.

Regarding the maintenance, the list of things i got replaced DURING THE 14000KMS ride are,
              1. Rear brake pad Rs 120 at a mechanic shop
2.Coupling rubber in the rear wheel Rs 200 at BAJAJ SVC.

Lets hope its gonna stay the same way w.r.t maintenance costs.

You need to remove the tank let it dry in SUN for a day. That's the best way to proceed for water drying up in the tank. As a temporary measure drain the carburetor and drain all the fuel from the tank, fill the new fuel. And check the tank drainage pipe it might be clogged, also check the hole under the tank cap.

There is a carburetor drain screw for that at the bottom most of the carburetor, take the bike to any mechanic and tell him to drain the carburetor its hardly a minute job. or For now search on youtube if you want to do it yourself as I could'nt post a vpicture of the same at thic time almost 11'o clock.

buddy take your bike to the svc and tell them that there is a hole somewhere through which the water is going inside the tank if your bike is under warranty then get it replaced immediately otherwise this problem u will face in every raine season. more over what i have learnt from so many owners here in my city that this is a common problem with bajaj of the water to seap in the tank.

as you know ideal tyre pressure is 28 for front and 32 for rear.now why you are asking about the minimum tyre pressure? it is good to avoid low tyre pressure for all time i think.do you asking this because of any tyre skid problem or anything?.

some days before when i went to check my tyre pressure, stock pressure was 20 for front and 32 for rear..actually i was in a feeling like bike is very under powered, it was very struggling..then gone for air check.then to my surprise realized this 20 for front.rear tyre was in stock condition, at 32. then filled air to 28 for front.
just after leaving that air pump i realized how much relation is in between "power and air".it got all the pick up, it was a great change. so all of you do check out your Tyre pressure.
