Hi Guyz,
My beast has clocked 12000 KMS and i am gonna opt for my 1st paid service. Here s my question.
1. Should i take my bike to Bajaj service center. I cannot vouch for the service given by them. In the mean time i could not find any good local mechanic. So if i opt for bajaj service center, should i ask them to not to change the oil and should i do it myself with MOTUL>??
2. The service Manual prescribes list of parts to be changes @ the first paid service. Should i do them all and should i ask the service center mech to do so.
Please help guyz.

Well i used to face this but know i am not it has been more than 1.6 years the bike has done 10432 km. i bought her in January 18 2010.
Shall be selling off the bike soon and go in for Honda product as this bike has increased my expense a lot i was very happy with my unicorn earlier. Shall be going in for a better product by Honda soon.
Hey!
Thats good to know you bought it around the same time I bought it..
Well, I did everything you asked here.. Spark plugs are working fine, I don't think there is any need, because when pull out the spark plug and try to self start it, there is no SPARK in the spark plug.. thats weird, isnt it?
I have been keeping the bike in top condition, changing the oil, cleaning of filter, everything is done on time, not a day missed..
But stil.. the problem persists...

If there's any more detail you want, please do let me know.. I am more than fed up with this. Please also tell me if I should sell off this bike, and what price would I get??Originally posted by lockhrt999 View Post1. Yes petrol lock can become faulty. No big deal. But then again if it's faulty just check it by taking off the fuel pipe and see fuel coming out or not. The fuel passage is okay. I have tried that several times. In fact that was what I tried, the first time the bike halted!
2. If coil wasn't working then battery should have drained completely and you shouldn't be able to switch on the headlight or even blow horns. It's clear that SC fooled you. (Well you're not alone here
). Anyway why you paid for something which was covered in warranty? SC was clearly making their business. Well, thats no wonder.. They are bound to do that, but I wouldn't complain if my bike was in working condition even after they duped me.. :-/
3. About fuel clogging up, I consider you are NOT filling from same station since 3 months. And anyway your mechanic might have cleaned the tank. I don't think fuel is clogging up. How? Do this simple test(only and only when your bike stops in midway). Switch to reserve. Just try to crank up once if it doesn't start, pull the choke, wait for 30 seconds and try to start again. Choke will make an additional one km range petrol available from carb's buffer. Now if bike starts within 2 cranks then yes petrol is clogging between tank and carb, case solved. If it still doesn't start then clearly petrol is not clogging up. Still for the time being don't visit any station you are visiting regularly. Well, even if I pull the CHOKE, it still doesn't start. It seems a problem with the electricals. I have got the fuel tank cleaned twice, out of which once in front of me..
4. Can you do one thing for me? tell me what's the latest highest speed?.. Using only first and second gear check whether bike can get 0 to 60 in around 5 secs? (Tip: switch to second around 30-35). Please do another test. Put bike on main stand. start it, switch to first gear. Keep RPM at 4K. and tell me for how long bike can run at 4K rpm? Highest speed, I couldn't test, because of the lack of space around here. But yes, it goes above 60 in around 5secs for sure.. That I try everyday..
I didn't understand the 2nd part you asked,.. How "long" can the bike run? what do you mean? I mean, should i twist the throttle untill the RPM sticks to 4K and then note the time, till which it remains there ?? is that what you're trying to say?
5. From your post, I reckon A)Generally bike comes to halt at above 4K rpm. B)When it stops, it's actually like engine ignition being killed spontaneously rather than feeling like running out of breath or fuel. the A) is not generally the scenario. It stops even when idling!! And yeah, the B) part is BANG ON CORRECT! Its as if while riding, some ghost tipped the engine kill switch!!
6. I think bike control unit (BCU) is faulty. Because on the lower side of 100 KPH, at 4K RPM bike's vibrations are at pick. BCU is situated in headlight assembly. Due to the way headlight is connected to forks, those vibrations multiply and become strong resonance inside headlight assembly. Secondly in 99% P180s BCU tends to slip from its rubber strip harnessing because of lack of tension. It becomes free. Due to these facts I think your BCU has gone faulty and that's why it's sending killing code abruptly. WHOA!! I asked those Rithala SC people, whether there is any kind of Control Unit under the headlight and they simply denied that!! Seriously man! They don't know a bit!!
What now? SCs don't have facility to check BCU. Try convincing them to replace it under warranty. If they don't go visit pro biking and tell them BCU kills engine randomly, SC sent you to pro biking as they didn't have BCU in stock and it needs to be replaced (under warranty off course). Don't pay for anything!!! Well, the problem has a new twist here. Yesterday the SC people said that the problem is due to the earthing of a BLACK wire coming out of the CDI. which they have taped and the problem wont surface again. The bike halted in the same fashion again (as if a ghost tipping the engine kill switch)...
Now, when I put the bike on the side stand, the bike starts!! And if I start the bike while its standing vertically or on the main stand, it refuses to start!!
Its even more frustrating than a nagging girlfriend!!
Hope this helps. I'm expecting you to replay in detail.

@shanxthechashmish: You must be tired of all this now!! You said that they replaced the coil, get the CDI of another bike plonked in and check if the problem moves away. Becuz everything else a you have said is fine, the only last chance must be the CDI.
45-50K Rs you will get if you sell it .

My mechanic got a CDI for me.. checked it.. and that CDI blasted!!!!!
The original CDI is still there...
The BAJAJ workshop guys did also put a new CDI, but with no better results.. Though theirs didn't blast off..
But yeah. abhichotu.abhi, I am dead tired of this now...
If you know anybody who can take this for 45-50K, I'd be glad to handover the keys RIGHT now.. along with a set of ROOTS 12V horns.. lol..

3000 km means half dead. And you can't fit put on your bike unless you do some massive changes.Originally posted by sabret00the View PostHi a colleague of mine at office is offering the IRC tires of his 250R which has done 3000kms since he is going for a tire upgrade.
4 Questions:-
1) Can I fit the front and the rear tire of the 250R on my P180UG3 without any kind of adjustments?
2) Does it make sense to buy 3000kms old IRCs? The maintains the bike very well though. Ridden the bike quite a few times.
3) If yes is the answer for Q2, then how much should I quote him for the tires?
4) Last question, although mileage drop is not an issue how bad will the performance be hit? I mostly ride on weekends at cruising speeds and seldom hit higher rpm.
Need help from you guys in deciding up and letting him know my final answer within the next 2-3 days.
***Disclaimer - I have posted this query in 2 other related thread so if you have already answered my query in another thread then please ignore it here as I'm simultaneously tracking all the treads where I have posted***

You should write an email to Bajaj about this. From what I've read they do respond such issues positively. You can ask them thorough inspection of the bike.Originally posted by shanxthechashmish View PostIf there's any more detail you want, please do let me know.. I am more than fed up with this. Don't sell your bike. Your bike hasn't suffered any permanent damage. There's tiny bit of 'going wrong' somewhere. If you resolve it, I think your bike can get back to perfect stock condition.

Hi fellas,
A problem!
While riding down a shortcut I took in order to avoid traffic jam from NH-24, I was riding well enough, and then suddenly a "born-to-be-forgotten" child pops out of bushes and all I could do was, use my strong fists to make disc brake liver kiss the accelerater. I stopped where I thought, child still got hit but toffee in shirt pocket came handy.
And when I started again, I realized that the pads haven't got back to their original position thus front wheel was not rotating freely, instead very heavy. Tried few blows to the outer cover, tyres somewhat moved but they are still not as free as one would expect.
Why did they jammed when they were supposed to restored totheir original positions? WTF!
And one more amusing thing, ever since I have poured Rs. 850/- in form of Motul 300V 15w50, I am experiencing hard gear shifts and engine sound far from even being touted as refined. Its of Dec 2009 manufacturing date, do engine oils have expiry dates?
Waiting!Na tha kuch to khuda tha, kuch na hota to khuda hota, duboya mujhko hone ne, na main hota to kya hota!

Air in the brake lines might have made them stick or the piston might have jammed. Just get the brakes bleeded.Originally posted by whytryharder View PostHi fellas,

Engine oils which are packed (no exposure to air) have life of about 4 years. I personally have used 2 years old oil in my P180 UG4.
Gearshifts will never be smoother in the lines of what Honda and Suzuki offer. Even I suffer from damn hard gearshifts sometimes even when using semi synthetic oil. Check if the chain is not too loose and also remove and refit the gear lever.
Thanks.

Thanks for your reply man!
But how did air seeped in? I never touched them, Wondering!
As far as oil is concerned, Motul 5100 was the best engine oil I've ever used! Far better gearshifts, refineness and above all, half the price!
Was disappointed by 300V!
Thanks again! Well things are disaapointing I am supposed to leave for hils next week!
EDIT: what a farce of a question I asked, I am running out of my mind!
