  • Hello guys,

    I have a pulsar 180 UG3 model(late 2006, 1st batch of pulsars to come with digital meter)

I live in Singapore and came to Bangalore on a holiday, and just bought a huge list of parts for my bike, mainly the clutch plate assembly, starter motor, cylinder piston bore kit and few other parts like valves, timing chain and tensioner etc.

Now we have part list online for UG3 pulsars, thanks to the Indonesian pulsar community

    P-180-UG3

When I compared the part numbers from my receipt, all parts match, except for the clutch plate assembly.

My list has DJ101275 whereas the above part list has DK101075.

Now my question is can the part that I bought fit into my bike? Is there a change in the clutch plates assembly across generations? May be the part I got is for UG2? Since I am changing the whole assembly, may be the part can fit isn't it?

    Any suggestions will help.

    Thanks in advance,
    Revhappy.

Anyways, you can get an exhaust from Joel Joseph, contact him at his mail id: joel(at)raceconcepts.in. About Bigbore, you can get a 210cc kit from Joel for around Rs. 6000-8000 (This is rough idea. Ask him the price personally).

Or get a good exhaust from Automech exhausts in Mumbai. They quoted me around Rs. 5500 for a high performance free flow exhaust but I couldn't get it as mine is P180 UG3, not UG4. I recommend Joel due to his competency, experience and reputation.

K&N BA 2201 should be good enough for slight performance boost, but don't remove or modify the airbox in anyway. Follow instructions on the K&N manual.
sorry samrath i am a newbie so it took some time to update the location. BTW i am from chennai so can anyone tell best place for performance upgrades and one more thing if i change the stock air filter to k&n BA2201 wheather the engine life will be decreased??

Anyways i contacted joel regarding performance upgrades for my ug4 through mail but not got any reply.

Do upsize the jets. About engine life I have read somewhere on this forum that it does decrease the engine life, I am not sure though.

                • Hello All,

Couple of days back i had mentioned a problem faced by my bike. Iam happy that it has been rectified over the weekend...

                  Symptoms
                  1) No top end speed - Expect restriction around 80kmph even in 5th gear.
                  2) Low fuel economy- 25kmpl to 30kmpl.
                  3) Low pick up.
                  4) Engine wont red line.
5 Overall cranky and dull engine output.

These were the symptoms that faced over couple of months down the line.
For this i changed, spark plugs, chain sprocket kit, clutch plates, air filter and couple of glitches here and there...

Detection of problem was not possible even by all Bajaj SVC here in pune. Until i gave it to one of my friends close SVC here in wakdewadi.. They detected it, before i could invest again my friend said lets try trial and error and check if they are true or not or the investment again would go waste.

They mentioned a problem in carb, Yes you all were right regarding the diaphragm, but the SVC said there is no guarantee that it would work, so its best if you change the entire carb and go for a new one... I agreed. So Antz and Rockrz (Pune members) fixed the spare carb and voila, the bike started flying again , 3rd gear iam 80kmph around red line (read the above points for previous speeds and compare). Since that was the detection, I immediately went and got a new from PBK SVC here in pune, kothrud one...

Now i have a spare carb for which i wish to try and fix the diaphragm... I need a small help from you guys, the mech said there is no guarantee that changing the diaphragm would work. Is it true?? its costing around Rs500 just the part, iam ready to change it if it will work or was he just saying it coz he wanted to sell me a new carb...

Now the bike does 120 odd like before, dint go all the way till redline and yes can feel it quite smooth... i havent checked the FE yet but i think it must have improved than before...

I don't see any other problem, apart from diaphragm as you have already mentioned that the mechanic has cleaned the carburetor several times. 500 INR risk would'nt be worthy if you could talk to the SC guy that if changing this thing does'nt works you will not buy it. I have done it several times with car parts. But, be careful the part should'nt be damaged.

Just to provide an update, I went to the Kalyani motors, mekhri circle again and the guys have confirmed to me that the part they have given me fits P180 UG3. I also took a look a the clutch plate assembly for UG2 and UG4,all are totally different. UG2 and UG4 are much smaller diameter compared to the UG3 that they have given me, although all have the same number of plates. UG2 has 6 nuts in center, UG3 has 4 nuts and UG4 has 5 nuts, crazy man, why so much frequent changes I also had a look at the parts catalogue and that one had a totally different part number it had DK101275. I guess the part numbers keep changing with time, even for the same gen.

Anyways, I have no choice anyways as they dont back part once sold, So I will know once I reach Singapore.

BTW, today bought some more parts, I bought the digital meter and the right side and left side switch controls. Total damage of all parts so far is about 12,000 Rs. Freaking hell man, so expensive parts are. But you guys will faint when I tell you Singapore prices. Its is on an average 4 times India prices, so I am still getting a great deal . Only thing is I need to pay for the labour which will actually cost me almost the same as the cost of the parts.

                      • very bad performance

I have already asked about the problems in my bike on this page.
Lemme give it out again. Please help me out.
                        1. Bike refuses to rev freely beyond 6k.
                        2. When forced to rev, it vibrates a lot. Making it very tough to ride on highways, beyond 70kmph.
I changed the scissors gear assembly, adjusted the value clearance as per the manual. The bore and piston seem to be in good shape, because the compression is superb.
What should i do to make the bike rev freely.
Air filter is replaced, just 1k ago, slugs replaced, carb's diaphram changed just 1k ago. carb cleaned.
Please help me out. Shall i change the rings and the values and check?
                        Thanks guys.

one of the friend has used in P180 UG3. He said he has got decent performance upgrade. Mileage improvement by 5-6 Kmpl. Also reduced accleration lag. Also he pointed out a few microsecond loss in power around 6k rpm, but there's surge in accleration after that. He had used stock filters, so not much of sound change.

                              • yeasterday night got a chance to check my top end...managed to touch 120.used full accelerator, it was not going above that also, road was not good to go futher, but, i may attain some more numbers if the road was clear.also, this run was not aimed for a top speed hunt, all gears were changed in 5k rpm only...that may be another reason for this....rpm needle not touched red line, that is 9k rpm..

what are your top speeds friends?...

bike performed very well in that high speeds, it was cruizing like a CHEETAH...
when i decreased my speed to 80 from 100+ it really felt like 40-50 which shocked me
