I want to check your bike before you do anything to it. Tomorrow we have Dhaba g2g, get it there. Rubbish to what the SVC guy is stating.Originally posted by AntiqueBlue View Postsigpic

If the bike vibrates excessively then it might be the problem of Balancing gear adjustement or loose engine mount bolts. I got my balancing gear adjusted somewhere around 2500 Kms as the bike was having excessive vibrations.Originally posted by AntiqueBlue View PostMy bike is giving me very poor mileage.
Around 35 - max 40 kmpl.
With petrol price rising, this is hitting me a bit hard, as this mileage is for shell super (supposed to give better right).
When I took bike to Bajaj center (i am regretting my decision already), the guy said all the vibration sound you are having in dashboard, and tail lamp region is because of balancing gear. I inquired what is this, he said "gaadi ka balance bigada hua hai, toh balancing theek karni padegi, ek gear hota hai, agar wo kharab hua hoga toh change karna padega". He pointed above the clutch casing and said yahan hota hai. Also said, clutch plate casing ko ni kholna padega, poora engine bahar nikalana padega.
Is something like this possible ?
And please mileage ka kuch suggest karo, petrol is already 82, news of 5 more increase, i will definitely have to buy cycle then

This dehu road toll naka is the first toll on pune - mumbai highway right >?
hmm... something like that only. But may be since vibrations have increased gradually, I have become habituated to themOriginally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostIf the bike vibrates excessively then it might be the problem of Balancing gear adjustement or loose engine mount bolts. Still it wont get imbalanced... Its one of those parts which hardly requires tuning. Vibrations might be because of screw loosening, happens when you redline all the timeOriginally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostIf the bike vibrates excessively then it might be the problem of Balancing gear adjustement or loose engine mount bolts. Yes, try to as i believe just the screws are loosened up and nothing more. About the average tune your carb.Originally posted by AntiqueBlue View PostYaar mushkil, have one party to attend, if i on last minute decide to bunk that, then will surely come

balancing gear, if worn out creates vibrations in engine and you can hear it while riding. normally balancing gear / balancer shaft takes a long time to wear off.Originally posted by AntiqueBlue View Post

the vibrations in headlamp and tail lamp assembly may be due to plastic parts coming loose. headlamp also vibrates when its rubber and metallic nut like washers (damn i forgot the exact name) wears out, try replacing it, it comes in a set of 4 or 6.
you don't need to take whole engine out for balancer shaft replacement. i got it done a few weeks ago. the engine does feel a bit smooth. but believe me thats all....a bit smooth.
man, how do you adjust the balancer gear ???Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostIf the bike vibrates excessively then it might be the problem of Balancing gear adjustement or loose engine mount bolts. tuning? a balancer shaft...? what will you tune dude ???

and its parts opened up --

btw it takes a really long time for balancer to wear out , mine was replaced for the first time after 1,00,000+ kms.

He did opened the clutch case and and clutch assembly, It was'nt opened in front of me but I saw him (I went after he opened the clutch to see if he was actually doing what he said). I then left, he said that he adjusted Balancing Shaft and yes the vibrations disappeared (excessive vibrations).Originally posted by princesirohi View Post^^ was the job done in front of you. just wanna know- what he did exactly. i will ask my mechanic.
did he opened up engine or gearbox ?

Hey guys! Don't know if anyone remembers me but I just swung by to tell you that my bike theft saga finally got a closure. Got the insurance payout - 55K. They deducted 5% more since my bike had been more than 6 months old (got stolen in its 8 month). After the interest I paid on my loan, I lost somewhere around 30-35K.
So anyway, got quite some insight on how insurance cos and the police work. God forbid, but if anyone ever needs any help dealing with such a case, PM me.
I got a P220 DTSi now (3 days old, as i write
). Amazing machine. Can't compare it to my beloved P180 since it still had a special place, being my first bike and all. Anyway, not taking much chances with this one. Have a Xena disk lock alarm clamped on almost all the time I'm not riding it. So yeah, be safe and may your steed be in the pink of health

ya, i checked it, it is possible to adjust it a little bit since it is a spring loaded mechanisim. if it is new, and has not worn out completely, some adjustments can be done to make it last a little longer.Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostHe did opened the clutch case and and clutch assembly, It was'nt opened in front of me but I saw him (I went after he opened the clutch to see if he was actually doing what he said). I am pretty sure it's not worn out, they are just trying to get some moneyOriginally posted by princesirohi View Postbalancing gear, if worn out creates vibrations in engine and you can hear it while riding. normally balancing gear / balancer shaft takes a long time to wear off.
it's not head lamp that is vibrating, it is the console and mettalic area between tail lamp that is giving excessive vibration. Nothing much from engine thoughOriginally posted by princesirohi View Postthe vibrations in headlamp and tail lamp assembly may be due to plastic parts coming loose. headlamp also vibrates when its rubber and metallic nut like washers (damn i forgot the exact name) wears out, try replacing it, it comes in a set of 4 or 6.
I got what you saying, same happened when i changed clutch platesOriginally posted by princesirohi View Postyou don't need to take whole engine out for balancer shaft replacement. i got it done a few weeks ago. the engine does feel a bit smooth. but believe me thats all....a bit smooth.
I now got what the SVC guys would have done, he would have opened it and disturbed every setting, (balancing gear's setting also leads to increase in pick up or decrease right). And oil bhi kam daala hoga, that's why gear shift has gone hard since I gave them bikeOriginally posted by princesirohi View Postman, how do you adjust the balancer gear ???
