      • It's been 27.5K Kms and 3 Years with this machine and it is still running like butter with some ups and downs.... Meanwhile gave the bike today for servicing at Bajaj ASC, the total bill came out tobe 1850 INR. At Last time (last service) too it was somewhere close to 2500 INR. The works done were as follows:

        1) Paid Service : 250 INR

        2) Brakes Overhaul : 100 INR (The bite of front and rear brakes were not there even after changing the brake pads and it remains the same after service too.)

        3) Front Fork Oil Replacement : 250 + 176 INR

        4) Air Filter : 80 INR

        5) Spark Plugs : 150 INR

        6) Threading charge : 120 INR (While opening the front mud guard to change the fork oil they broke the mudguard nut and hence rethreading was needed as the old nut was slipping.)

        7) Engine Oil (Valvoline Premium 20w50): 300 INR + 20 INR (Done outside)

        8) Other minor charges : 50 INR

        9) Anti Rust coating + 3M Teflon (as per them it was rather 3M Wax when I checked it in real) + Minor touch-ups Coating 550 INR with free repetition of the same after 6 months.

P.S: This service and the last one have costed me a bomb even when the works done were ordinary replacements. Approximately 5,000 INR they have costed me for the normal works. Even when I was talking to the Service guys in morning while giving the vehicle for service they were trying to force upon decarbonising job (although it might have been required but I did'nt wanted it) for 550 and chain cleaning 120 (I denied both as I will be changing the chain and sprocket in next service if pocket promotes), so the next service might also cost some 2,500 INR to me. Making a total of 7500 INR for a total of 3 services.

P.P.S: Engine oil when drained was found tobe 900ml so the bike ate 100ml which is normal for any Pulsar...

I guess you gave bike to Rhytm Auto ??? :P
And this is mid life crisis for Pulsar I guess, when everything is required to be replaced...

Neways m having my share of problems.

Battery is completely dead, so need to replace it. Which one is better around in market??

I guess reason would be directly fitting 55W/60W bulb to battery, which might have been draining battery more rapidly. Anyone knows some work around, or I will have to put in 35W HID. Again, is 35W HID better than 55 W Halogen ?

Next, is front tyres, lots of cracks around rims and almost everywhere.

Sprocket can live few more kms I guess..

Few scars here n there, I guess they need to be replaced now..

In last oil change, gave out around 900ml of oil, I guess which is healthy for Pulsar

So anybody who can help me with illumination problem ???

The bulb type is H4, you could try Philips HID kits but they are expensive in the range of 6-7K INR.

Amaron are considered best among all brands.
                  35W HID >>>>> 55W Halogen.
Front Tyre: I believe its expiry is near. Switch to R15 v1 front tyre. Nothing is better than that.
                  Engine oil is doing fine.
                  -------------

My bike is back into optimal performance. Avg is ~48kpl. Power flow is very linear. Current AFR is 2.2 turns before fully closed. Earlier it was 2.7 turns before fully closed.
But it's still coughing badly while engine braking. I think backfires are propagating from exhaust itself and not from engine as backfires don't have any effect on performance.
Recently Carb was cleaned inside out, both spark plugs were cleaned and air filter is new. Oil is 5100 which was changed a thousand km back. bike has done only 15k on odo. Any input?

                    Where were you? Playing hide-seek!

For 15K nothing major I am sure you have already checked the conditions of consumables like front and rear shock-up oil\springs, fuel pipes change, Clutch and Accelerator cable change (not necessary but I do it every 2 years or 20K kms). With R15 tyre speedo error might also increase as I have read on P220 dts-fi thread but that is nothing compared to added grip.

                      • Ola amigos

Hello folks.. long time since I've typed something here..
hope everyone's doing fine and having fun with your P180...

Few updates on my bike -- Done a bit more than 40k kms in 3yrs.. Had to replace the head light assembly since I had a fall (not bad though).. One dent on the tank which I wanna get removed, hopefully its possible without the paint cracking... I tried Motul 300v in my bike and I've 2 words for it AWESOME but EXPENSIVE ...
Both the tyres were changed around 9k kms back.. Front Pirelli Sports Demon and rear MRF Zapper Wyde..
Had been using the HIDs (35 watt High-Beam)for around 2 years and yesterday the low beam bulb fused .. So now back again to the stock halogen bulb ....
Got the Battery changed some 15 days back to AMARON zero-maintenance one.. Trust me this is the best in the market..
                        Accelerator cable - Never changed
Clutch cable - Changed once for mental satisfaction @ around 25k kms and second time just 2k kms back cause few strands had begun to break

To discuss on few recent stuff from the previous posts:
@Abhi -- Once you change the front brake pads the brakes are not that effective.. there is ermm lets say sort of a break in period for the pads.. around 50kms or so.. after which the brakes are 100% effective.
I am unable to find valvoline 20W50 in b'lore

@AntiqueBlue: Hey bro.. the battery on our bike can't take 55 watt bulb.. Get the 35 watt HID (high beam) with low beam as halogen .. You can get in touch with Navnish here..

Okay so the HID (35 watt) is way way better than 55 watt halogen.. No stress on the battery and is bright.

Hmm.. thats all from my end folks..

(Will try to frequent this thread more often )

Hey buddy.. Comparing the 300V & 5100 is like comparing apple to oranges.. These are both two very different oils all-together..

5100 -- Semi-Synthetic Ester -- This lasts for around 3k kms.. Good for normal riding pattern

300V -- Fully Synthetic Double Ester -- This can last to almost 4k to 6K depending on riding conditions.. (As a matter of fact I know guys who has drained the 300V after 8.5k kms.. The oil held up well all that long..).. If you are a person who rips the hell out of your bike this OIL is the correct thing to be used.. BUT its is very expensive.. 1lt of this oil costs almost 950/- to 1000/- bucks..

So depends on how you ride & how much you ride & how much you wanna spend on oil alone; you'll have to decide..
Both these are good at their respective places..

                            Cheers n Ride Safe,
