Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)
A thought came to my mind its like an advice well I have never done it before hence just wanted to confirm it here if its safe.
Well my bike is in run in period just done 400 km changed the engine oil at 350 km. As u all know its winters every morning when I start my bike I don't use choke at all I just leave it start for a min or so. So that the oil is fully circulated in the chambers of the engine.
Well my seed has never disappointed me on the 1 crank start touch wood. I was just wondering is it safe to give choke in the first crank? As the vehicle is brand new. I will be keeping the bike in run in period till 2000 km then I will go the semi synthetic way or should I wait till 5000 km.. For it. Current engine oil which is being used is moto 4 gold 20w50. It is a good engine oil I don't ride fast just at 40-50 km/hrs or for this speed this engine oil is fair enough. What do u all say.
I shall be waiting for a reply.click me

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)
If the carb is tuned properly choke may not be necessary. Try starting the bike only through kickstart in the mornings. Rest of the day use the ES. Letting it idle for a minute is excellent. Regarding oil always follow the owners manual guidelines. I guess it should be 20w50 Bajaj oil. 20w50 - Yes. Bajaj oil - NO.Originally posted by arjunb25 View PostA thought came to my mind its like an advice well I have never done it before hence just wanted to confirm it here if its safe.

A good mineral oil such as Gulf, Valvoline, Wurth or shell will give good in fact better benefits with a change interval of 2500kms to 3000kms.

Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.
A good mechanic will let you watch even without charging you for it. |
It is funny to know that we've been imitated and copied so well and surprising when we notice our mistakes are copied as well.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)
well thank you for the reply but dude in 180 ug4 there is no kickstart anyways I don't use choke at all as the Carburetor is tuned properly as I just touch the self in the morning being too cold the engine is fully cold there is no problem she starts in just one crank I was just asking about the choke just to clear my doubt.Originally posted by petrolhead_chn View PostIf the carb is tuned properly choke may not be necessary. Another thing about the engine oil Bajaj oil I hate it big time it is the most pathetic engine oil. To hard on the gear shifts, the bike is not at all smooth with it.
The one which I am using right now moto 4 gold 20w50, well it is the same what company says I am not using anyother engine oil and yes this is a pure mineral oil.
I was wanting to know which is the best time to change from mineral to semi synthetic I mean motul 5100 15w50.click me

I was ignorant on the 'no KS part'. I had Avenger with no KS and it used to start fine with the ES. I never ever used choke. Good for you too. As for the oil part I have always used only mineral oil and I change it every 2000kms or 2500kms. Never liked the SS or FS oil. But that is my opinion based on experience.
Usually you are required to use mineral oil till engine break-in is completed which would be around 5000kms and then change to FS or SS.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)
Use choke for first start of the day no matter what season it is. Keep it at least for 30 seconds. Not only it will noticeably run smoother throughout the day but also engine will live longer.
Let me explain, engines have certain operating temperature(~95 C) and if they are used/stressed at lower temperatures, it ruins them.
So I use choke everyday and now bike which is 4.3 yr old, when I use once in a two weeks, it starts at one feather touch.
And nevertheless I know bikes(new old doesn't matter) run rough if they didn't have their 30 sec choke idling.

Need Help on pulsar 180 Ug3
Hi all,
I am having a pulsar180 ug3 version run 25K. Last dec I have changed the rear tyre to CEAT VERTIGO SPORT Tubeless 120*80*17...Since then bike handling became very tough. Sometime I feel that rear is too heavy and my front wheel may lift any time.
Secondly, I have seen vibration effect in handlebar. I can hear a clcik/khot sound when I press front disc brake.
Thirdly, I have experienced a huge sound while changing my gear. Feels like somebody is hammering my gear.
Please let me know how to rectify all these.
Regards,
Animesh Chatterjee

I wonder when the company was printing it or making the book did the forget that its a Carburator vehicle or a fi.Originally posted by lockhrt999 View PostUse choke for first start of the day no matter what season it is. Well thank you buddy I was doing the same thing but since the vehicle was in run in that's what made me comment on this subject as previous bikes which were purchased they all were in summers extreme. Hence choke was never needed but this time its winters hence this question was raised by me.
Got your point and happy with it. Tried yesterday good result.click me

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)
Hi Guys,
I am having a 2007 Pulsar 180. Was a very good and trustable bike never let me down any time till now. But now almost for the past one year I was feeling some slag in throttle response now it has become worse. I lost all pick up of her. Now literally scared to over take some. Now even at full open throttle I am not able to reach 70+. Literally Pissed of with her behaviour. Showed her to lot of mechanics in Mumbai and Pune. Every one says some or the other problem and just eat my money. I changed my Block Piston, Airfilters many time, Chains, Circuit Spark plugs and almost all in bringing back her to old power now left is carburator, Gear Box and Wiring. Mechanics suggest to do that also. But literally dont know what to do now. And how to solve this problem. Can any one help me on this.. Thanks in advance.A next door biker..

I suggest you to do some routine checks like Clean your carburetor. Check if the air fuel ratio is proper. Also check for chain slack. Though I think since you have new chain so there won't b any.Originally posted by vivek.n View PostHi Guys,

And what work was carried out when the bike undergone engine rebuilt?

Yes newer manual book is crap. Don't follow it. More than half of the stuff mentioned in that are wrong. My P180 manual is a lot better than this but I don't have a digital copy.Originally posted by arjunb25 View PostI swear I hate the manual book as nothing is mentioned there about choke not a single bit? Have you ever had the clutch components checked/replaced ? Like the clutch plates, springs?Originally posted by vivek.n View PostHi Guys,

Start by having the compression checked at a asc and then check the clutch components and have the carb cleaned/tuned and i think the p180 has a tps (throttle position sensor) , so get that checked too.
You'd need to find a mech / asc who is willing to put in genuine effort to get these checked correctly and replaced if necessary.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)
Cleaned the Carburetor and changed Air filter. Changed the Clutch plate twice for this problem. And I can feel this problem even when the bike is not in motion. So there is not problem in Chain. Still Listening to Mechanic I changed the Sprokets and Chain too.I suggest you to do some routine checks like Clean your carburetor. Check if the air fuel ratio is proper. Also check for chain slack. Though I think since you have new chain so there won't b any.
The Bike has done 50K Kms and I changed my Block Piston, Timing Chain, Clutch Plates all to gether. Still I face the Same Problem. Can you not tell how many kms the bike has run?
And what work was carried out when the bike undergone engine rebuilt?
I Replaced the Clutch Assembly twice for this Problem. Now I need to Check on this "tps (throttle position sensor)" need to find out a proper Mechanic for that. Who will put some effort to find this problem. The Bike never crosses 7000 RPM on. Now not I am able to ride Slow neither Fast.Have you ever had the clutch components checked/replaced ?
