  • Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)

last month when i get the chain lubricated from the service centre, they used oil based lubrication. The bike felt hard to rev after 70 kmph.

After a month or so, i finally brought the TVS chain spray [ costs at Rs 385/- ]. And cleaned chain using soap solution and water.

Ironically, the chain of UG4 is completely black in colour, so clean chain cannot be differentiated from dirty chain very much.

Will give the review after two three rides, planning to change engine oil to Motul 5100 15w50 in a day or two.

    My bike stats P180 UG4 , 3000km+ at ODO .

which they are not giving anymore. I am like fed up this way unable to calculate the reserve to reserve.
Where as I bought a petrol tap with key lock which worked very well for me but the thing is to carry a separate key is like hmmm. Also my bike returned me 56 km/ltr. with this key lock petrol tap.
I wonder with the new bikes coming at the dealers are they giving the dk model petrol tap with them.

forgot to mention the red light was not blinking with the dj number as I am unable to acctually see the bike is coming to reserve in the correct manner but with the key lock thing it not only showed the red light but also came to reserve in the right time.
Just go ask for pulsar old modle petrol tap, you will get the right one, the insode has a long tube and mesh like thing to filter particles the newer ones are shorter and a little different.

Its an o ring chain good u hsed soap water and not kerosene or diesel etc,
Youcan lube it with castor oil too after cleaning the chain, the chain sprqy dosent actually really lube the chain just helps keep the o rings supple and its already lubed from the inside, castor oil helps the o rings stay soft and supple used surf water and castor oil on a friends bikes chain and it lasted 20k
Castor oil dosent flow very easily and dosent let dust and sand stick easily,
Give it a shot if you dare or tru 4 spray is good too

        • Engine oil for Pulsar on long distance riding

Hi fellow bikers... Arnab here.I have a pulsar 180 UG4.5, 15 months old and 7500 kms run. Engine, though not excellent I say, is in alright condition and I maintain periodic servicing. Till now I've been using Bajaj DTSi 10000 oil. I used it everytime for nearabout 3000 kms and no top ups in between. I have done frequent 100-150 kms journeys so far. Now I want to start long journeys like 500-1000 kms, one in every month. I want to switch to some better oil and I've got suggestions for some good semi-synthetic oils like Motul 5100 4t 15W50 and Valvoline premium 4T 20W50. Now suggest me which one I should go for and what should be the drain period (I avoid top ups if not urgent, since I don't like to spend money for an extra can)? Remember, I am considering long journeys and on highways I'll be frequently on triple digit speeds. Please suggest which one is VFM (Motul costs almost double of Valvoline).

Once the can is finished or I face problems, I will not try new methods. I am trying to keep maintenance cost optimal. After many comments and reviews against oil lube and universally positive reviews of TVS chain spray. I decided to go ahead. My plan was to use kerosene or diesel, but was not ready to spend. And storage is also issue.

Well thank for your lovely suggestion but the problem is that now the company is only giving the Dj number of petrol tap and not the old model anymore well if tomorrow they will not arrange then I will right an email to BAJAJ then I guess they will get up. Well I will also try to ask the manager if he can switch on from the new bike if it has a dk number tap in it the bulls eye. Otherwise the last option which is left for me is the key lock petrol tap which actually was working good for me. Touch wood if they will help me. Let's see shall update or else I have to arrange it from delhi.

                      3000kms on bajaj oil
Bro salute to you(just a little leg pulling! )
                      Engine is still young,
                      Use motul 3100 gold 20w50 or motul 3000 15w50
And change it every 2000kms to 2500kms
And use till you reach 15000kms on the odo,
Then shift to motul 5100 same grade as above and use fpr 3000km on odo and use it tillyou reach 25000km on the odo
Then shift to 7100 and 300v.. imo you wont need them.

You can anytime revert to air, air contains 78.09% nitrogen,no problem whatsoever, if a cut or nail goes in to your tyre your bike's tyre will just simply puncture, simple as that, it's not gonna explode.

Relax you can go to air no problem
Nothing will happen, fill nitrogen in cold tyres after complete deflation..and only before long highway rides, they are useless in city rides moreover a waste of money.
