Here we go, as we are riding the bike, we can see three bars on the meter. No red light yet for say 20km after this, the red light blinks and goes back to again three bars. At this moment the bike goes to reserve and as we are riding still the bike has three bars on the meter without the red light. Here's the catch the bike forces to go back to on position. Here's the problem that without showing the red light and still showing three bars the bike is at reserve mode. As earlier I went to the workshop and there the entire tank was removed from the vehicle to diagnose the result is that it had 3.5 ltrs. Now here's the catch it is written in the book 3.2 until reserve out of which 2 litre is usable reserve good. But I remember in our pulsars it used to light a red light in on position for 40km and then she used to come in reserve right, correct me if I am wrong. What do you say on the above subject got the picture what's happening.

Now here's another thing I used an after market fuel tap with lock facility to see what happens and to my surprise, not only I got the red light for a long time like old days but also the bike came to reserve with 2 bars showing on the meter and returned me 52 fe.

With the company's fuel tape I get 46.

now as I had mentioned earlier an email was sent to the company and they checked I went yesterday with the companys main head to check on there fuel tape.

the tank had been removed to see the amount of petrol, which had 2.44 ltrs then we got 1 ltr put which became 3.44 ltrs.

then as we drove the bike came back in on position which in just 1 km it came in reserve then he said get 50 rs of fuel more in the vehicle which was .64 ltrs. now we had 3.44 + .64 = 4.08 ltrs. well as we all know that the petrol pump do some stealing hence we ignored the .08 and took 4 ltrs of fuel as the main in our minds.

Now I take the bike with the person behind me for a ride. here we go we ride and ride for 49 km when we hit the first reserve. he is watching the meter and he is telling me that sometimes in digital meter there is no accuracy on the fuel hence we have to ignore that well I agree there is not and specially with bajaj. the meter does not show the red light and still it is showing 3 bars the bike comes in reserve we go back to the company remove the tank to be empty and we see that the bike had 3 ltrs left.

Well I was so tired by tired by the end that I got convinced that it might be my error and there fuel tape is correct, hence gave the satisfaction letter to them and came back home.

Now I am wondering do you all have this kind of a problem or is it me.
I replied to your PM... anyway it looks like you are expecting something else while there really may not be any issue. The digital meter '3 bars' , red light indication and the fuel tap 'reserve' might not work perfectly in sync.. it is just an approximation. And as i said earlier, if the fuel tap was a problem it should be affecting all the bikes and not just yours. So there is definitely something wrong in the way you are looking/calculating or expecting from the bike.
Relax now and enjoy the ride..

Yes...but my bike meter shows 2 fuel bar and still the light not get active i will update when it will blink..but my fuel knob is not giving me the actual km to reserve to reserve.....

          1. Approx more than 3 litres - Fuel tap is in ON and fuel flows from tank to carb - no red light
          2. You hit reserve - switch tap to RESERVE position - now fuel is around 3 litres - again NO redlight
          3. Approx 1 - 1.5 litre or lower - still in RESERVE - red light on console lights up ??
          This is my guess..
          On my bike it's like,
Red bulb on when 4 liters remaining ( The bulb is hard wired to 3 bars or lower number of bars) .
          Reserve when 2 liters remaining.
          Simple.

            hmmm ok..makes sense

            Reserve when 2 liters remaining.
reserve (i mean when the fuel knob is to be turned to 'reserve' position)is around 3.2 ish litres right (and that's what arjun has obtained during his test with the asc)?? Of which around 2 litres is usable.. right ??
That's what i remember reading in the manual..

            Simple.
Replies in bold .. unfortunately i dont have access to p180 to check this

              ^Correct. I don't count unusable petrol as it's useless.

Thats the best handling pulsar you can get (and a hell of a lot more reliable! ), I own one,
                    Lots to check,
Check the block if its original, yes youcan hit a lakh kms with that original one. 3500plus to replace engine internals.
Electricals... new harness is 550rs, if it has self stsrt see thst thr motor works,
Speedometers are about 1100 for the whole cluster,
Check wheel rims and front brake master cylinder and brake calipers. 740 rs for the master cylinder with lever,
Rear shockers must be shot (crap ones from factory)
And please donot replace the rear swingarm to dtsi one, its damm small, hence the shorter wheelbase and awsome handling, rest every thing is cheap to fix,
Battery box metsl holder is welded to chassis its known to rust, new one can be fabricated and welded easily.
Frot shocker tube nuts are the ingressed type, they must be rusted shut and youcsnt get new ones so maybe fork replacement is what you will have to do, frame dosent rust and wheighs more than the newer pulsar 150s frame!
Check gearbox must be allfront or else its been worked on.

                    divyansh....

                      Best bike to modify,
                      Comes pretty cheap
Anywhere from 10 to 15 k for a good condition one, 20 k for an immaculate one

How are thr front brakes guys? Mine are the old classic ones, they just dnot bite, I replaced the entire master cylinder along with the lever and internals, the travel is too much more than half depression on the front lever to get any bite on the discs, my pads are new, disc has not thinned out too much either, using dot 3 brake fluid system is bled well. I just dont see where the problem lies.
                        Any heads up?

I feel brakes have not been bled properly some amount of air is still left behind because of which you are getting a longer travel of the brake lever, sometimes when the insides of the piston of brake caliper accumulates dust and debris, then also this things happens, piston should be thorougly cleaned, the piston should get inside and outside in the cylinder with no fuss, the pins on which the pads slide on should be clean and not corroded.

only the p150 had an all-down shift initially.
                              the p180 was always a 1-down 4-up setup.
