An excellent video of how a general service should be performed:

lockhrt999 your post confused me at first, but after contacting you it's all clear. You intend to replace the rear brake shoe which will require removal of the axle. You do not have to take off the spacers/drive chain adjusters. Loosening the adjuster nuts a turn or two helps but that's not really needed. You just have to push the axle out after removing the axle nut and then take off the wheel. The spacers would become loose but that does not change the tuned adjustment point. After you're done with brake shoe replacement, just insert the wheel back, insert the axle and then after you screw in the axle nut a little bit, push the wheel towards the front of the bike, and tighten the nut. Make sure someone holds the bike, or it may come off the center stand. That will make the bike's rear axle return to it's old position, thus maintaining the proper chain slack. Don't forget to center the brake BTW.
I am back!

Hi guys,

Here is my analysis on the fuel consumption figure post first service. Right after the service I observed a FE of 37 km/l, however, after i refueled the next time I now am getting a FE of only 30 km/l. I don't know what's going wrong really and I also can't trust the ASC guys with anything now. Anyone knows what can possibly go wrong? Please also consider the following points:

- My driving is very sedate and I barely go above 4000 RPM
- My braking is good, I use engine brakes followed by both front & rear brakes
- Power delivery is as expected from the bike and there are no problems or unusual behavior from the engine
- My engine idles at around 1100-1200 rpm when the engine is warm
- I never rev the engine on idle and also don't perform sudden accelerations in my daily riding
s1d and Divyanshp150 any inputs? I sorely need help!

It could be bad quality fuel, some mistake in your calculation or the carb needs to be tuned correctly. Get it to the ASC and sit on their heads.
Do a mileage test with them (drain carb using the drain screw, disconnect connection from tank to carb, take 100ml in a plastic container connected to the carb directly and drive around till bike stops) - you should get more than 3.5km per 100 ml if ridden normally.
And of course do write an email to bajaj if the asc doesnt help you out. There is a video i posted a cpl of posts ago showing what should be done in a full general service.

Don't think it could be as a result of bad fuel since I had refueled from Shell (I used Indian Oil previously). I'll go to the ASC tomorrow and ask them to do a mileage test. Thanks!

Did u use shell premium ? I've had bad experience with shell premium.. I'd stay stay from the premium stuff and stick to regular petrol
Shell doesn't mean they don't scam you after wishing you a namaste
And if possible post a pic of the spark plugs.

Nope, it's the regular Shell.

This(above) is the most reliable & quicker mileage test that there is. I'm planning to buy a mileage-test-can to do tests myself.

1. No white or any smoke when run at high rpm , but lots of vibes, causes the rvm to move down.
2. Kick start is same as before, hard ,needs force to kick.
3. Since I changed oil 400 kms back could not find much difference
4. Could not find any oil deposits.

Also forgot to mention chdck the condion of sir filter spark plug wire and plug snd do you hear a sewing machind kind of chitir chitir noise when the engine is running?
1. Air filter is new, and cleaned recently.
2. spark plugs are new and wires dont have any crack
3. Yes, there is sound like sewing machine when observed closely.

Get the valve clearances checked and adjusted
also have the balancer gear/scissor gear checked and adjusted.

Hmm. Its only been 400 kms since my first service. I intend to use that Bajaj oil for at least 500 more kms. I shall move to elf or motul after that.
