Buy a new one and get that installed
Keep this one
Go home clean it and keep it, after 5k kms oil and use this one, andnkeep the next one for next time.
No down time for the bike.

If in more hurry , buy and keep a spare for that piece of foam - it's around Rs 50 I think . Then you can fit the clean+oiled one and go . Clean and dry the dirty one at leisure .

Thank's Pinaki ji for informing the proper way of cleaning the airfilters.

The company has taken out a circular saying that the petrol tap which we should be having is dk model but now the company has taken out a DJ model saying its upgraded but DJ is Kent for pulsar 150 and not 180 the problem is which I have faced is the bike has 3 bars on fuel no red light indicator there is enough petrol in the vehicle but she is coming to reserve again and again this way we will never get to know the actual reserve when ever she will come. So irritating but when I put the lock tap it works perfect tomorrow I will get that put along with gifting them there stupid dj model petrol tap. I have changed it like 5 times now tired

What do you mean circular ? Have you seen it ? Got a pic or link where we can view it ?
If the petrol tap part is the issue, it should be affecting all the p180's right ?
Honestly, I am still unable to understand what is the issue that you are facing.. Can you explain it a bit more clearly and use some full stops in your posts because it gets confusing reading it
I think the red light on the console lights up only when around 1 -1.5 litre or less of usable fuel is present.. and not when it hits reserve.

This is how it works i guess.. (approx capacities)
1. Approx more than 3 litres - Fuel tap is in ON and fuel flows from tank to carb - no red light
2. You hit reserve - switch tap to RESERVE position - now fuel is around 3 litres - again NO redlight
3. Approx 1 - 1.5 litre or lower - still in RESERVE - red light on console lights up ??
This is my guess..

Well you can ask from your svc about this oil change of your choice and if the svc dosen't response positively, then you can get it change by yourself.

Bajaj dtsi is crap oil, ask your svc if you can bring your own oil. If they allow use the following or change oil outside later on,
When you go for your first service ask them to,
Adjust clutch cable(its a little tight from the factory)
Change engine oil to motul 3000 15w50 or motul 3100 gold 20w50 (drain after using it for 2000km)
Keep using this oil till you reach 5000 km on your odo meter
Then shift to motul 5100 15w50 (3500nkm drain interval)

Ask your svc to clean the centrifugal pump and filter of the bike since this will have a lot of metal shavings from the run in, get the clutch cover gasket replaced (22rs only)

Now for the run inn its best to keep the rpm level instead of the speed, rpm is more important,
Keep it under 4k for the first 1000km and then gradually accelerate, no sudden acceleration... be gentle on the engine, after your second oil change let it rip:P
All the best.

Divyanshp150 is perfectly right...!!! just also keep in mind to vary the rpm/speed i.e don't stagnate on a certain rpm... and yes i would also like to add one personal point... that during run-in period i.e. 2500-3000 kms (run-in value) do take to her to high speeds like 90s once, twice or max thrice but not more than that... and not frequently, do keep considerable time intervals... when taking to high speeds observe the way its going like "toooo much effort/slight effort/ easy/totally easy"... don't be too harsh if (god forbids) your bike resents to go to high speeds...

and heartiest congratulations for the new beast...!!! wishing the couple many happy and safe kilometers to come... waiting for more pics... All the Best !!!

Your running rich brother.
What I mean is your bikes afr is towards the richer side.
The setting if ideling of the bike should be done when the bike is hot,
Go to a competent mechanic when your hike is hot after riding a few kms,
Ask him to tune your carburettor.
Also ask him to clean your spark plug since it will be slightly dark (due to rich running)
Now, after this the bike will be on constant rpm at around 1000 to 1200 to 1300 is acceptable.
Conversely you may have to use a little bit of choke to get the bike heated up on cold mornings.

Ps:- when you first start the bike in the morning after this tuning let it warm up for 30 to 40 seconds before you ride, this will heat up the engine to the correct operating temperature, and will help the oil gain some temperature and coat the inner surface of the engine components and prevent ware and tear, this small habit along with timely oil changes will ensure your bike is good for long. (I do thid and my bikes enhine is still good at 80, 000 kms)

Note:- this doesnot mean that all the adjustments to the engine should be done when its hot! Tappets are adjusted when its cold, so dont take this as a thumb rule, its diffrent for different components

divyansh....

I think the red light on the console lights up only when around 1 -1.5 litre or less of usable fuel is present.. and not when it hits reserve.

This is how it works i guess.. (approx capacities)

2. You hit reserve - switch tap to RESERVE position - now fuel is around 3 litres - again NO redlight
3. Approx 1 - 1.5 litre or lower - still in RESERVE - red light on console lights up ??
This is my guess..
Hi buddy OK I will tell you exactly what's the problem.
Here we go, as we are riding the bike, we can see three bars on the meter. No red light yet for say 20km after this, the red light blinks and goes back to again three bars. At this moment the bike goes to reserve and as we are riding still the bike has three bars on the meter without the red light. Here's the catch the bike forces to go back to on position. Here's the problem that without showing the red light and still showing three bars the bike is at reserve mode. As earlier I went to the workshop and there the entire tank was removed from the vehicle to diagnose the result is that it had 3.5 ltrs. Now here's the catch it is written in the book 3.2 until reserve out of which 2 litre is usable reserve good. But I remember in our pulsars it used to light a red light in on position for 40km and then she used to come in reserve right, correct me if I am wrong. What do you say on the above subject got the picture what's happening.

Now here's another thing I used an after market fuel tap with lock facility to see what happens and to my surprise, not only I got the red light for a long time like old days but also the bike came to reserve with 2 bars showing on the meter and returned me 52 fe.

With the company's fuel tape I get 46.

now as I had mentioned earlier an email was sent to the company and they checked I went yesterday with the companys main head to check on there fuel tape.

the tank had been removed to see the amount of petrol, which had 2.44 ltrs then we got 1 ltr put which became 3.44 ltrs.

then as we drove the bike came back in on position which in just 1 km it came in reserve then he said get 50 rs of fuel more in the vehicle which was .64 ltrs. now we had 3.44 + .64 = 4.08 ltrs. well as we all know that the petrol pump do some stealing hence we ignored the .08 and took 4 ltrs of fuel as the main in our minds.

Now I take the bike with the person behind me for a ride. here we go we ride and ride for 49 km when we hit the first reserve. he is watching the meter and he is telling me that sometimes in digital meter there is no accuracy on the fuel hence we have to ignore that well I agree there is not and specially with bajaj. the meter does not show the red light and still it is showing 3 bars the bike comes in reserve we go back to the company remove the tank to be empty and we see that the bike had 3 ltrs left.

Well I was so tired by tired by the end that I got convinced that it might be my error and there fuel tape is correct, hence gave the satisfaction letter to them and came back home.

Now I am wondering do you all have this kind of a problem or is it me.
