Leak from the head
Hi friends I was cleaning my bike today when I saw a leakage from the head gas kit from one of the nuts attaching an image for you. In just 600 km wow.
Well I went straight to the workshop and showed them and I told them to check if the nuts are loose. Well they were ok agreed in the pdi they don't see anything.
After all the nuts were tighten then the vehicle was given to me with all the oil been cleaned. Hence I was not satisfied since knowing something is fishi I went for a 10 km spin. With a torch in my hand since it was 6:00 in the evening. After the ride I parked my vehicle on the side main stand to see if the leak was still there. Yes sir it was hence I went back to the workshop and asked the sales guy who delivered the vehicle plus the sc in charge that before delivering this vehicle has the vehicle been opened for a gasket to be given to other vehicle earlier well a yes was there from them. So here it was an open vehicle only the head gasket or something else.
on which they said sir we replaced the head gaskit then I told them that tom I am coming and you better clear this or else provide me with a new engine I don't know how they will do it but I will make sure that they do.
Since they are the people who have opened it.
The dam sales guy had the guts to ask me sir Kahi apnai bahar to nahi kam karwaya. I was like oh my god to hide your mistake he is trying to put the entire blame on me.
I gave him a look on which he kept quite.
Well now again to the workshop there is no other noise from anywhere from the engine or the vehicle only very little oil is coming out from the nut. I guess the packing is not done properly or god knows what is the problem.
Shall keep you all posted. Wish me luck that the problem gets solved soon.click me

Re: Leak from the head
That's not good for brand new engine. Let's hope new headgasket will hold the oil.Originally posted by arjunb25 View PostHi friends I was cleaning my bike today when I saw a leakage from the head gas kit ....
What's the story with oil? Did you top up? or replaced? You're using moto mineral oil right?

I heard from my friend that we got to buy 20w50 engine oils for pulsar 180. I seriously got no idea about this XwX thing. But since you mentioned 15w50,let me ask you, how good it is going to be on pulsar rather than a 20w50 grade oil

Re: Leak from the head
Former number tells the viscosity when engine is cold. latter number tells the viscosity when engine is hot. w50 is the important part. There's negligable difference in 15w and 20w grade.Originally posted by shaheen View PostThat was a quick response. Thank you.

Re: Leak from the head
If thats the case, then will go with motul itself. Read some good reviews about valvoline 20w50. Will buy whichever is available here in my place.Originally posted by lockhrt999 View PostFormer number tells the viscosity when engine is cold. latter number tells the viscosity when engine is hot. w50 is the important part. Re: Leak from the head
well well well what do we know I forgot we are talking about Bajaj here. Well as well all know they are one company who forget to fit some of there parts.Originally posted by lockhrt999 View PostThat's not good for brand new engine. Let's hope new headgasket will hold the oil.

Well here comes a story.
11:00 am schedule to visit the service station for the leakage problem.
11:30 am my mechanic comes out for the keys of my bike.
12:00 the diagnose is going on of the bike.
12:10 we conclude to open the head and what to out surprise on one of the nuts there was no watcher inside it because of which the leakage was there.
Good going Bajaj. Anyways my mechanic says as I trust him blind folded since he has been working and I know him since 10 years.
He says I will replace the whole head as he suspects something fishi hence the whole thing has been replaced and now there is no oil leakage from any where. Also the bike is butter smooth. Touch wood..
what is the normal co setting of this vehicle as the another mechanic was checking the co it was 4.20 for which he said it should be 2.26 and I was seeing somewhere else and this guy changed the stock setting of the Carburator and now due to which when riding the vehicle and if u have depressed the clutch the vehicles rpm goes below 1000 rpm and the vehicle dies. I have to re self the start the vehicle.
Dam I will try to get the stock settings back tom. As soon as possible, I will really appreciate if anyone here can tell me the value of the co which is been checked from the Silencer front small holeLast edited by arjunb25; 03-06-2014, 04:41 AM.click me

Re: Leak from the head
That's good news that they changed the whole head.
The other mechanic probably turned down the idling and may be that's why the engine RPM is going below 1k when it's free. You can increase the idling yourself.
Probably Cleaner knows the CO for pulsar.

Re: Leak from the head
LOL buddy, congrats on getting cheated by a mechanic who you trust for 10 years. The mechanic is not good obviously, it was just a O' ring which needed replacement. Washers does not seal anything, they are used for load distribution. The O' ring costs like 10 rupees, Bajaj assembly line may have made a mistake while assembling the head, or somebody could have fiddled with the bike after it came out of factory.Originally posted by arjunb25 View Postwell well well what do we know I forgot we are talking about Bajaj here. Your CO% is indeed high and I think you're running a rich mixture. I do not usually depend on the CO% to adjust carburetors as different gas analyzers show different values and the values are different on different stock bikes of same make and model of which the carb was never touched. About the CO% it says in 1.75 to 2.00 in the bikes I have tasted. I suggest you increase the idling to 1400 RPM by unscrewing the idle screw a little bit and then see what happens. I suggest you screw the AFR screw in till you feel it is tight, not tight like other fasteners but just a little bit of resistance and then unscrew it 2 and a half turns, your bike should behave okay, if it does not, unscrew the AFR screw another 1/4th of a turn. This should solve it.
Seriously, you need to change your mechanic.
Sorry, I did not see this thread earlier, I could have helped you out.I am back!

Yes the problem has been solved finally dam it was too irritating I just wanted to see the co% of my bike just when the dam mechanic fiddled with the bike. This is real strange. If I understand it correctly, you've quoted before "delivering" which means the bike before being delivered to you on a first hand basis was opened and the gasket replaced? If that's what we are making from here, and if yes, then you have the right the sue the sub dealer. And it's highly unlikely that a part will be missed, with the factory spec bike.
You can obviously mail Bajaj for this lampoon from the SVC side, and they should have done it at absolutely no cost.
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

The work which has been carried out well they did it for free if they would have charged me for anything I would have nailed a nail on there ...Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostThis is real strange. Anyways the bike is good actually the registration has been done so they can only repair the bike and not replace it. It is very easy to say sue them but when You actually go to the court of law there you understand that the bike is parked untouched for a very long time and I will be waiting for years for the judgement to come.
Let it be brother they have corporate with me a lot and I know and I am guessing they also know the same that they are at fault and have to do what ever I tell them to since I have the evidence with me.click me
