hello guys,

so far, i can say that i am most satisfied owner of p180.

11500 kms, 1 year old. And she still runs like a charm. Recently i touched 130kmph on my bike on mumbai banglore bypass highway. And rode constantly above 100kmph, still i have got a average of 50kmpl. And in normal city+highway riding i get 55kmpl.

My afr tuning is at 2.25 turns and is running perfect(neither lean nor rich). If you dont believe ask lockhrt.

The pickup is nice and bike goes above 120 very easily.

I would be infact happy if our pulsars are discontinued, we will get exclusivity on road....

Taahir, very well maintained. . I still doubt that you got that much mileage while riding at 100kmph .

Happy riding ..

just 40-50 kms above 100 kmph, rest of the 550 kms were normal riding....my trip clocked 602 kms and 11.9 liters were required to fill tank upto brim

Just went through the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500 section here on xbhp...the new model has got a HID factory fitted. Would love to port it to our lovely P180....
Is it possible...has anyone thought of it...?

• Engine/Bike Speed not in sync

Hi,

I've a Bajaj Pulsar 180 UG4 and I'm facing kind of a weird problem with my bike. The bike is 26k KMS/4 years old. The Engine RPM does not match with my bike's speed.

When I rev the throttle to accelerate, the RPM grows steadily but the bike does not move ahead like it should. For Example, at ~7k RPM, the bike should be doing 80, instead when I wring the throttle, the engine surges to 7k RPM (it does, the tachometer, engine sound and all other regular pointers) but the bike does not gain speed. Once the RPM reaches 7k, the RPM drops a little and the bike starts to gain the speed and then the RPM steadies back to 7k.

The bike behaves normally under 4k RPM or under very gradual acceleration. Race or open the throttle after 4k, the bike does not respond well.

Simply put, there is a humongous delay in transfer of power from the Engine to the wheels. Any clue on what the problem could be?

Hi,
This is my first post.
Recently took my Pulsar to get a 35w projector fitted.
The problem is huge battery drain and the glare on the glass.

Thanks.

• Pulsar 180UG3 Issues

Hi All,

I own a Bajaj Pulsar 180 UG3. It has done 54k adn its almost 6 years old. Off late i have been facing a lot of problems with the whole bike. but the mechaninic near my house (whom i have been trusting for the past 4 years) was able to solve out a majority of the problem. Bajaj service centre personnals are somewhone whm i will not trust at all. So here are the two problems that my bike still faces.

1. Gear Shift Problems.
Previuosly I had issue with my gear shaft because it took a great effort for me to shift gears. My mechanic readily told me that the spring of the gear shaft would be worn out and thats the reason why the gearshift is kinda stubborn. He did an amazing job and changed the springs and now the shifting is smooth. But there was another problem that i mentioned. I noticed that when the bike is parked and if its in gear, i wont be able to push the bike even while holding the clutch because the gear seems to be stuck. I have tried to test it many times. And when I drive the bike for more than half an hour, i feel some lag while shifting gears. It looks like my bike is struggling to get engaged to the current gear. Even after i park the bike, i cannot push the bike by holding the clutch. Is there a problem with the gearbox.?

2. Rectifier Issue.
This is a never ending problem that I face for the past 2 years. As a result i have stopped using my self starter and I always use the kick starter. My bnattery gets worn out in flat 2 weeks. I thought it maybe due to weak battery and i have changed 4 batteries in the past 2 years. Then i thought the rectifier maybe an issue and had the rectifier. I went to the Baja authorised dealer and got a new rectifier for my model of pulsar (180 UG3). Again after a month my battery got worn out and i havd to recharge the battery. I checked with a certified electrician and he told it might be due to a faulti wiring. But he cannot look into it as he is not familiar with the bajaj pulsar's wiring circuit. I really duno where to start with this issue.

3. Disc Problem
I have never had issue with my disk brakes as it always saved me at critical times. the only problem i felt is that the brakes felt a lot more softer than being crisp. Since its a 6 year old bike, i recently changed my disk pad(thats the 2nd time) and i still see that the disc brakes are working fine but its very soft and I can literally see the brake lever touching my handle bar. I have changed the disk brake oil, cleaned the disc pad holders of all the debris, cleaned the disk and cleared the holes on the disk of all the dirt. My mechanic told me that the spring driving the calipers must be worn out and it might be the reason that the brakes are feeling soft. I really dont know whether i should get new set of disc brake calipers or should I change the caliper springs. I need an expert advice regarding this.

These are the three constant problems that i face with my bike as of now. Other than that, I am very happy with the bike and its giving me 43kmpl with K&N filter on. I have never felt a need to upgrade my ride. The only option i would like it to go for is for a Royal Enfield Bullet and that too the old one, like a 2000 model Electra, or a Machismo. I somehow don't fancy the new Royal Enfield Classic Bullet that they have rolled out, just because more that being unique. So i request yout o kindly look into these issues and provide me with relevant solutions.

Really very weird...! Get a complete checkup done...and around 7k rpm the bike should do 97~98...atleast my bike does...!!

The pointers in general would be to check clutch if you haven't replaced them in a while apart from checking free rotation of wheels and brakes.

I'd also suggest you to get one of your friend to ride along in another bike and check the speeds on speedometer. Get this done in a linear road and ensure you are in sync.

It could also be an electrical or electronic fault. If possible try swapping a console from your friend's bike and check. Atleast that is what ASC guys do if this is going to be persistent even after replacing clutch, oil and calibrating the carb.

Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.
A good mechanic will let you watch even without charging you for it. |

and surprising when we notice our mistakes are copied as well.

Either Clutch plate is dead or the clutch cable is too tight. And bike should be doing ~96 kph at 7k rpm not 80.
