Re: Battery Issue
Hey Guys,
How are you ?? Back after a long time online with a new Problem.. umm not so major as of now...
I got my bike transferred from Lucknow to Chennai in October and before that had its servicing done in July end... so
Basically since a few days I'm getting this blinking battery symbol erratically... !!!
I checked for water level and it was a completely dry (to be frank) I immediately filled it up and gave a few throttles... thinking it to be fine
after one day it again pops up... saying "Hi !! Check me out !!"
So What, How and why to check it out... My Gurus lockhrt999 , petrolhead_chn , s1d , Cleaner Your enlightening views and solutions please...

Re: Battery Issue
Try charging up the battery externally. If it fails to hold charge you'll have to replace it.Originally posted by prajwalmd View PostHey Guys,

Re: Battery Issue
That's right what john has said. Batteries have 4-5 years of shelf life.Originally posted by prajwalmd View PostHey Guys,

Re: Battery Issue
Your battery has probably gone for a toss. Reason: sulpfation , likely cause: due to lack of distilled water. My guess is one or more of the cells have been damaged.Originally posted by prajwalmd View Postafter one day it again pops up... saying "Hi !! Check me out !!"

If you have a multimeter, you can measure the voltage with the bike off.. it should be at least 12.7 Volts. If its lower, get it charged.. and measure voltage.. and after charging it should show up at least 10.5V .. And if it is unable to hold even 10.5 volts, then time to get a new battery.
also after charging it , you can also hold a multimeter across the batt terminals and thumb the starter.. you should get a reading of at least 9.5 Volts, if the reading drops dead or falls drastically, the battery is kaput. repeat this a couple of times to avoid a false sense of 'battery is ok because first time the reading was ok'.
OR
Simply take it to the battery guy and have them check it.Last edited by s1d; 12-14-2014, 09:40 PM.

Re: Battery Issue
Don't waste your time fiddling with the old battery. Get a new 9Ah AMARON maintenance free (Also called VRLA) battery. do not try jugaads as P180 does not have a kickstart option and you would be push starting in cold weather if the battery gives up.Originally posted by prajwalmd View PostHey Guys,

Re: Battery Issue
If you have a multimeter do a voltage test at home. Else simply take it to a battery shop. They will do a LOAD TEST for you. Or just get the battery charged, connect and use horns, indicators and parking/break lights for a while. Crank now. If all is good engine should fire up and battery will charge up again and should not discharge again. If it does, replace after checking the grounding point near rectifier too. It worked for me.Originally posted by prajwalmd View PostHey Guys,

Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.
A good mechanic will let you watch even without charging you for it. |
It is funny to know that we've been imitated and copied so well and surprising when we notice our mistakes are copied as well.

Pros :-Originally posted by anarchy911 View PostI was wondering what are the pros and cons of fitting 220's rear disc setup to 180...and where can it be done?

Better braking..
Cons :-
New rear alloy along with disc
Entire new rear brake system with callipers., etc etc..
Provision of brackets for mounting the callipers, reservoir..
That's what i can say theoretically..
Get it done from known knowledgeable mechanic or try svc..

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)
How do you feel filling IOC petrol in your bike as I am using bpcl petrol the bike is very smooth but I was just reading the thread of petrol here and learnt that HP, bpcl use mixing in there petrols so I was wondering about IOC petrol as they are 91 octain
As bpcl is 89 octain. Who so ever has used IOC please give me your reviews maybe I put in my points soon. As I have used bpcl and next tank full I will use bpcl getting 50 average from here.
Just crossing my figures that the bike is smooth like this.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)
Congrats and welcome to the family(in a few days)...Originally posted by Allcan View PostHi guys.....
I'm new to xbhp and biking
Booked a bajaj pulsar 180 today.... it'll be arriving earlier next week......
Need some suggestions and guidelines for handling this mean machine...
Dream came true.... :-)
Since the bike is new, ride it with gentle throttle and stay below 4k rpm at all gears till your first oil change. The bike will be rough and harsh during the first 1000kms but it'll ease out soon. After the first oil change, you can increase rpm upto 5k rpm till 1000kms on odo. Then, gradually raise the engine as bike gathers mileage..
