    http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/help-me/...ng-proble.html - Old Thread Link

Well so far I have covered more than 55,000 km roughly with my pulsar. My handlebar wobbling problem was never solved though. I did number of things to rectify it so just don't want to go through that history. About 8 Months ago first time I changed my Tires and I was hopeful that my front will wobbling problem( between 55kmph to 655 kmph) would at least minimize then, but surprisingly there was no improvement at all.
After some engineering I found out that the new front tire is not seating properly on wheel rim, its slightly producing an oval shape. Tire Shop owner from where I installed new tires invented that my rim is bent. With a heavy heart finally I decided to change the wheel rim too. But even after so much of effort put(in terms of money) it was still useless but not completely. I observed that now if I over inflate front tire (say around 30 to 34 psi) and maintain recommended pressure at rear tire, the wobbling actually disappears.
I feel that here over inflating the tire basically makes the tire stiff which eventually resist deformation under load. Therefore the tires overall diameter marginally increases. So that means if i upgrade my stock tires 90/90 -R17 (Static Load Radius = 286mm) with some larger tire say 100/90 - R17 (Static Load Radius=293mm) it should help me out with the wobbling problem. I don't care about speedo error with distance covered and actual speed which would occur due to tire size change.
So please help me out and please provide me your valuable suggestions and opinions about the same. Has any body seen or done the front tire upgrade on pulsars with larger tire? are there any other concerns I may have left unnoticed!
The only reason seems to be suspension setting or suspension oil leakage causing imbalance.
At low pressures the rubber tyres might accommodate the suspension efforts so reduce the wobbling.

Hi Guys !! Need Help !!

I am looking for a good Service Center in Chennai to get my 180 serviced... i want to get it serviced in front of my eyes (everyone knows why), also that does not charge any Exorbitant amounts for just a Service. I'm staying in Ramapuram, Opposite to DLF IT Park.

      Please suggest/advice me in this.

      Thanks in Advance !!

      • Oct 2014 Pulsar 180 - Need some help

        Hi members,

        I have some query --
        1. I have bought new pulsar 180 in Oct 2014. I want to know these bike have manual choke or auto choke ? My bike have manual choke but in service center I have seen some pulsar 180 same models have auto choke. As bike manual do not mentioned anything about choke, last time when I had started bike after 7 days it took lots of time to properly starts (I thought there is auto choke). Yesterday again after a gap of 7 days when I was going to start the bike, after first self start when it did not start, I searched for choke & see the manual choke bellow the tank towards seat, I applied it & it start in single press.

        2. My bike is giving some problems - some similar to what other threads mentioned :

        a. After first service in nov, oil leaks is there from gear side (left) towards side stand. Firstly service people are telling this is due to chain but on the same time they are telling chain do not require any greasing & oil, instead one spray. and finally showing them the photos how large the oil are leaking (visible in morning) through that side they have change some sealing in gear (neutral) side. now its OK. any comment.

        b. In city, it is difficult to ride with pillion in low speed , gears has to change lots. If I do not down / up the gear it gives noise sound or not take load contrary to its reputation. Actually it get the speed up very fast (above 45-50) so I have to ride it in 5th gear & on braking it come immediately to 10-15. Similarly on speed breaker, something touch the ground when having pillion.

        c. Also what is the max speed that can I expect from Pulsar 180? and what is idle RPMs of riding, Although ideally it shows just above 1000 or exactly 1200 but during riding in city it remains in range of 2500 to 3500 - 4000 / 4500 max.

        d. Also after first service bike starts stopping suddenly & on lowering the speed, for that service center say there may be some Kachra & give the race three to four time. Now I don't face such problem. In Jan Feb I also fell some times more heat near engine.

        e. Also yesterday, after key on the petrol I see some leakage (petrol), service center people have replaced the petrol pipe.

I have to go for the second service, I want to know what will I say to serve center people to tackle all these problems or what care should be taken at my end .

Serviced my bike in last week of the January. Writing just now to get it off my chest. Bike had done 21k on ODO. True is near 24k.

          1. Headlight upgraded to 24W LED. It was needed as I was going to do 500 km run at high speeds overnight in the direction of Goa. I'll write about this mod in a different thread. A lot needs to be said about headlight upgrade.
          2. Installed a mobile charger.
          3. Installed Mobile mount.
          4. Changed the engine oil. Motul 5100 15W50, it was.
          5. Greasing here and there.
          6. Bike wasn't starting in gear as the clutch sensor was worn out (yes it does worn out). Couldn't get new sensor so basically had to do some jugaad. Increased the height of the slider by sticking a very small piece of sim card plastic on top of it using feviquick. Now working absolutely fine.
          7. Rearranged the accelerator cable as earlier I had arranged it wrongly and it was scraping paint from tank flap.
          8. Installed LED at number plate.
          9. One of the spark plug's contact point had caught some rust so replaced with new available NGK spark plugs (non-iridium). have noticed no difference at all.
          10. Cleaned air filter and carb cleaner sprayed into carb.
          11. AFR was made rich by half a turn to decrease chances of engine overheating (as I was going to run it for 2 hour+ @ 100+ speeds)

Unsolved problems, Turn and Neutral indicators aren't working on console. I'm not going to fix them. Period. One of the pilot (LED) lamp has stopped working which is my fault. I manhandled it several times. Not going to fix this for a long time. I hate headlight jobs. Recently got a gator (air pocket) in rear tyre. It was popped using a needle.

          ----------------------
          About Goa run,
I on my P180 and a friend on his P180 left Pune at 11PM and reached Belgavi which was 400 km at 5 AM. In one way this was our test run for Saddle Sore and that's why we left at night. Bikes cruised at 105 KPH. no problem. We had put shell regular petrol. At one point we did 160 km patch non stop. It was an absolute bliss. My Lenovo Vibe z2 was running entire way. Here maps navigated the roads. Bike kept mobile charged, headphones played constant music. Only thing that made us uncomfortable was unanticipated chill in the air. It made our hands numb.

After a week we started on return journey at 9 AM, we barely could manage 95 KPH because of the traffic and secondly the cheap petrol (51 per ltr) from goa made our bikes very vibey for anything above 90 KPH. It made our hand numb again.

Does the mobile battery charger has/had any impact on bike's battery discharge?
Want to install one but worried about bike's battery as kick is not available as secondary option!
And I think the petrol prices in goa are cheap due to 'taxes', not so sure though.

AFAIK, p180 doesn't have auto coke. You have to manually pull the choke and then push it back in after use. To confirm, check if there is a knob near and above the carb outlet. If yes, its manual choke.

              2. My bike is giving some problems - some similar to what other threads mentioned :

If it doesn't leak, then no issues. Could be the neutral switch leak or gasket leak.

Are you referring to engine sounding harsh as revs rise? If yes, it could be lean a/f mixture.

Max speed I got on my bike was around 130kmph. Allow bike to run in for around 2000kms before top speed runs. Ideal idle should not exceed 1.5k rpm after warming up engine. Mine idles at 1k when cold and 1.2-1.3k rpm when warm. Looks like your a/f mix is lean or your accelerator cable is getting stuck. This could be the reason for your previous issue as well.

              d. Also after first service bike starts stopping suddenly & on lowering the speed, for that service center say there may be some Kachra & give the race three to four time. Now I don't face such problem. In Jan Feb I also fell some times more heat near engine.
Its common for bike to heat up. But if it heats up even for very short distances, it could be(again) the lean a/f mixture problem. Did you ask them to tune the bike for mileage? If so, these issues are bound to happen.
              e. Also yesterday, after key on the petrol I see some leakage (petrol), service center people have replaced the petrol pipe.
              Is it leaking now?

Just ask them to retune the carb since its heating up a lot. Also, check engine oil level and condition. Bajaj oil tends to give up too soon. If necessary, ask them to change oil.

Long time bro.. How's the bike performing? Looks like the p180 is going to be on the records for Saddle Sore How's the headlight performance? Any pics available for the beam spread at highways?
How did you fit the mobile charger and where did you fit it? How does it look?
The neutral and turn issue could be loose contact either in the wiring or console. Is it possible for air pockets to be developed in tyre??
Good luck on your attempts bro.. Ride safe..

No impact on battery from mobile charger. It's very very frugal.
Yes, petrol is cheap there because no state taxes.

Indeed long time. Bike is performing like textbook. Headlight performance is a mix bag. I have posted a video on - let there be light thread about that. I'll post more about it later on. The spread is too much.

About mobile charger, let there be no doubt, I didn't use inverter. I used a USB charging thingy that you put in cigarette lighter socket in car. All it does convert 12V DC to 5VDC. Costed paltry Rs. 60.
Anyway I have done some serious wire chopping with my mods. It may not be everyone's cup of tea. I'll post every in detail as the time permits.

Well that's good news.. I currently replaced my headlight with santro's stock bulb 60/55w 4300k. Low beam covers large area while high beam is projected neatly and is brighter. Since it's h4, the angle may be slightly off compared to hs1 but it does feel good. Planning to remove rear number plate bulb for power saving.. I'm planning on the same mobile charger but wondering where to keep the phone..

Guys, for the past few days, i am noticing quite a few things in my bike.

                    1. The pickup is not so good.
                    2. Engine is making a gasping sound, like its not getting enough feul.
                    3. Clutch is too tight and the free play is too much. After leaving 80% of it, the engine is getting the power.
                    4. Few days ago, i did 120kmph. But yesterday me and a other guy were able to do only 106.

I got it serviced sometime ago, after that the problem was solved for a few days, now they are back.

What could be the reason and solution?

For the first two issues I think you should check air filter and if persistent then carburetor for any problems.
And for third, the clutch plates might have to be replaced.

Try to be as stock as possible with p180 bro. After more than a year with the bike, I have found that though it can give true performance and mileage, it's highly sensitive to other factors. One wrong move and you could end up with poor performance till the engine is back to stock. I don't think the above combo would be good since a 2 valve setup doesn't allow quick revs. A free flow filter along with FFE and the engine would have to be fed more fuel. Plus, it leads to more stress in the engine leading to premature wear of major components. It can lead to back fire, valve damage and other such problems. Unless it's done with the help of an expert, it will surely create hell lot of problems.. It's your call though.. Plan wisely bro..

Plus, it leads to more stress in the engine leading to premature wear of major components. It can lead to back fire, valve damage and other such problems. Unless it's done with the help of an expert, it will surely create hell lot of problems.. It's your call though.. Plan wisely bro..

Actually, few days ago I saw a friend of mine getting Joel on his 220. So I was wondering if its possible for 180 as well.

Ha ha.. Everything can be done on any bike. It's just a matter of for how long.. Btw, p220 and p180 have different valvetrains. So something which does good on one bike could have disastrous effect on the other. Though the silencer could be used without much consequences, filters are not recommended unless you are ready to play with the carb jets and tuning. Even if you are ready, the real problem is that you have to check the output and check for abnormalities. This is possible only with stress testing the engine which, unfortunately, is not readily available. Else you won't be able to gain the mod's full potential. Also, high flow filters are notorious for passing dust into engine leading to piston damage. Hence the stay stock reason..

So if I dont opt for K&N and go for only the FFE, would that make sense?
