What about the rear ones? Is mrf the best for pulsar?

Is revz s good in wet? The stock ones are good for wet but on muddy spots tend to loose grip..

Yes wet grip or revz s is awesome but in off-road/muddy situation it looses its charm
Zapper C and revz S they are 10 times better than Michelin pilot "sporty"

            • Re: Bajaj Pulsar 180 (All Versions)

So closing in 40000KMs on my UG4.

              (1) I have trouble with chain sprocket, its making sound in every full rotation - when a gear is engaged. what i mean to say is if bike is in neutral and free roll at speeds 50-60km/h no sound from chain, but engage a gear back and in almost every chain full turn there is a sound. I don't see the teeth of rear wheel gear and torn out..

Does it mean the sprocket in front is only culprit ? [can their be any alignment issues etc ?].
Can i get that separately ? or should go with full chain sprocket change (?).

btw, chain sprocket has been changed at 18k previously and ASS says - chain sprocket is only good for 10-15kms [crap talk they do].

              (2) I had used 20w50 oil bajaj brand previously, tried Motul 5100 15W50(which was good but i think was wrong) (?).
now moved to Motul 3100, Motul 3100 has cold start problem though for certain. Any better and easily available mineral oil options.
Somehow i feel its better to change mineral oil more than trying to see if synthetic oil can be run for longer KMs. (Just my perspective about it).

              Thanks in advance guys.

              • Please Help - Crossing 67000KMs in Odo. Want to regain the performance of my Pulsar 180 UG4

Hi Friends, Wish you all a happy 2016 and happy riding. Hope everyone is doing great with your loved ones (of-course the Pulsar ).

I was about to change my Pulsar 180 ug4 and buy new bike this year just because it has become 5 years and 67000KMs old. It is 2010 model and so far enjoyed every bit of the ride in the bike. Then test rode REs, Dukes, New gen Pulsars etc. but somehow I don't see much difference and could not compromise myself to buy new bike (personal opinion anyway). I believe I can very well cope up with any of the bikes that I test rode with my Pulsar in almost all aspects. So after lot of confusion and dilemma I have now strongly decided to retain my Blackstallion180 (Pulsar 180 UG4) instead of purchasing new bike spending over a Lakh. So it is high time to revamp my bike in terms of looks and performance and keep it for another 3-4 years and 1Lakh+ KMs.

                Current Issues:
                1. Front wheel wobbling heavily between 40-70 km/h. Post 70 km/h no issues at all.
                2. Refuse to go beyond 90km/h recent times. Though there is no stress/struggle in the engine until 80-85km/h. It was easily touching 120km/h until last month (66K Kms).
                3. Instrument cluster leds neutral light, high beam light etc. are not working properly and flickering at times (from 55K Kms onwards).
                4. Engine oil leak (on hard Revs). Recent times.
                5. Ignition switch with key become loose. Sometime everything switches off automatically even the ingition switch is on. That is the engine, instrument cluster lights, digital speedo meter everything goes off. after 2-3 times turn the key to on and off it become normal. Very dangerous that 2 times the engine Switched off while I was riding in traffic.
                6. Muffler is slightly rusted all around. I believe I can paint it Matt black.

Kindly help me in regaining the performance of the bike. However I would like to stick to stock and don't want any performance modifications.

PS: After this revamp, I'm planning to take the bike for long trip (approximately 1000KMs trip). Crossing my fingers !

                Thanks & Regards,
                Gopi.

                  Dear Gopi,

Since your bike is quite aged, it will require major works like clutch, piston/bore, timing chains, cams, rockers, crank etc. This will require considerable time, money, patience etc & the effort you put in may not fetch you desired results. Running for another 1lakh Km's even after re-conditioning may not be pleasant or smooth experience, which again drains your wallet further.

I strongly suggest you to buy a brand new bike, P180 again if you really love it. The latest P180 has much smoother engine, better in quality than earlier batches. You can also go for P220F or AS200 which are real value for money.

Honestly the new 180 is at par one smooth ridding days I had on this bike but now I am planning for avanger but 150cc. As I like to go slow now after the accident in which I broke my wrist and now there is a plate inside my wrist. A good lesson comes to one with time and experience.

                      1. Cone set, tyre/fork alignment, tyre pressure are the most probable causes.
                      2. Too much possibilities here. Could be compression issue, clutch wear or something as simple as air filter cleaning.
                      3. A loose contact in the wiring to display. Probably in the connectors.
                      4. Leak from engine head? Gasket needs replacement.
                      5. Might be wiring issue since you've mentioned flickering dash leds.
                      6. Thick rust must be sanded down before painting. If it's rusted too much, replacement is the best option.

As for engine works, if necessity arises, make sure you get hold of a good mechanic. Engine rebuild can lead to too much issues if not done properly. Also the engine after the rebuild will turn out to be quite new but not the settled feel of original engine. You'll have to treat it as a new engine for few days.
Regarding the trip, I'd request you to ride the rebuilt bike for a few days to find any issues before taking it to the highways. Good luck sir.

Well zapper c(stock tyre) and zapper vyde are good, but if you can upsize, go for mrf revz s(r15 v2 tyre), it's 130 section tyre and it's radial, provide excellent grip, the life is around 15,000kms. The price is 3000rs at mrf store. If you want more life, then get mrf zapper s 130 section tyre(pulsar rs 200 rear tyre) the price is 3000rs, it's not radial but you would get more life.
These prices I checked around 10 days ago at exclusive mrf store in jaipur, rajasthan

Well no tyre is all rounder, either it is meant for roads or for offroading. So the tyres meant for roads would not perform well on offroading, and tyres meant for offroading would not perform well on roads. So decide according to your needs

Well the rear shock absorbers of new 180 are a bit taller in compared to the older ones. I have 2010 model and now in 2015 when I got new rear shocks, there was a difference of around 1 inch in the height of the shock absorbers, so the height will get increased by 1 inch if you get the new ones. Price of the pair is 1600rs
The other method is to go to a local place where modifications are done and they can help you with anything
P.S. First compare the height of your shocks with the new ones, then decide
That's all I can help you with
P.S.S. Do one thing ask the same question in pulsar 220 section and pulsar 150 section, there are more members there and you will get multiple suggestions
