    My bad experience with ASC:

I bought my P180 in Sep 2014. First free service was at 500 Kms odo. When I took my bike to ASC, they screwed me during its first free service. They charged me 390 rs/- for Bajaj DTS-i 10000 20W40. I questioned them on the grade for P180 which is 20W50 as per owner's manual. They said they don't have that in stock and its ok to put 20W40 in P180 and that too they didn't bring it in the 1L sealed bottle as I was expecting, instead they brought the 1L oil from a large drum in a mug. I had no choice as it was my bike's first service and replacing oil is mandatory. So I went ahead with the oil change at the ASC. They completely messed up my bike. The speedometer was showing all wrong reading, the fuel level display was going up and down and more importantly I don't know what they did to my bike but I have to change gears frequently now because of the engine reaches its maximum potential and if I am above 40-45, I have to use 5th gear.

After riding the bike for 1-2 days, I couldn't take it anymore and changed the oil to Motul 3000 4T plus 15W50. Fast forward a few months, my bike approached its 2nd free service date so I took my bike today for its second free service. They said I had to do oil change. I said NO. I showed them the owners manual and said it only talks about top-up if necessary and I flat out refused any oil change. They told me its my wish and they are not responsible if it voids warranty. They basically scare customers into buying their crappy oil from a drum which must be costing less than half of what we pay. So today I feel like they did nothing but put some oil and grease in few parts of the bike and they couldn't even do a water wash properly. I am pretty sure they stole petrol from my bike as well. I am beyond pissed.

I had to take my bike on a hot summer day for service and then went by auto to pick it up and this is what I got second time.

Please someone tell me what they have done to my bike that I have to change to higher gears even with little acceleration and I have to ride in 5th gear beyond 40-45 km/hr ? I don't know much about bikes but If someone can point me to what part they messed up at least I can take it to an outside service center and not get screwed again.

    please advise guys !

    Thanks.

What was the condition before first free service about rpm at 45 kmph?
There isn't much service center people will do about rpm-speed relation, though the low quality oil and summer season might cause engine heating and requiring high rpm for same power.

Here,I don't think so the Service centre guys can mess up much.

Regarding suggesting you to change the the engine oil pre-scheduled,it happens everywhere

They will bother you on this.

In my say,I would like to advice you carry on riding for a few more days,

The first three services is crucial for a Motorcycle.

If the problem persists, then take it to another authorised Bajaj SVC.

Hey guys.. Successfully crossed 15k kms on odo. Apart from regular tappet adjust, air filter and spark plug cleaning, oil change, is there anything else to be done for the bike? A known mechanic advised me to change piston rings to ensure sufficient compression and also decarbonise head. Is it necessary?

Absolutely Not. There is no need to change piston rings this early and to be honest there isnt much requirement to decarbonize aswell.
If the bike has been run well and you dont feel any lack in compression why go through the whole exercise. It just seems like an easy way
for mechanic to make some bucks. If i were to take a guess(based on past experience) i would say that around 40- 50000 kms should be the right time to check for compression and than worry about ring change for a well maintained bike which i guess your's is! so dont worry about it and ride her well

So no worries then.. The bike doesn't idle well even after co tuning. So I guess I'll be asking svc to check it this time. But no decarbonisation. I do have to say this bro... Even though the bike develops problems, it is highly reliable even on highways and never leaves the rider stranded.

Agree with mehuel,15000k is too early for this kind of service.
by the way,you got the steering cone set changed as per scheduled maintenance??

Not yet bro.. Cone set seems fine so far. Had tuck tuck sound around 11k kms. Had it little tightened and it's running fine so far. I do tend to use the bike little rough on patched roads with minimal engine strain. This does lead to higher chassis strain but seems good so far apart from rear side tuck sound. Fork oil is also stock. Apart from regular engine related work, nothing is done on bike except tightening of headlight dome once in a while. This time I do plan on getting the bearings greased. Chain sprockets also look good and seems to have another 5-7k life in them.

hmm, idle problems. well what exactly are you facing. is it idle issue with cold idle just after starting the bike or is it idle problem even if the bike has run for few kms?

At all times.. Seems to skip something like 5th firing.. It's rhythmic and annoying.. Idle is never settled even when tuned with a well warmed engine..

Out if my knowhow,I think a Carb overhaul might get rid of the problem.

I do plan on it along with the fore mentioned problems.. But Co tuning leads to richer tuned engine which is an issue for me.... Also, the svc people never try to rectify problems unless we force them to check it. In my place, the kind of care I give to bikes is called overcaring or madness even by experienced mechs.

Hi everyone.. The bike was serviced few days back and mileage returned is again at around 40 for city(sane) riding. Symptoms -idle unsteady, single tappet sound(it sounds like one valve is making noise), bike struggles with pillion on uphill rides(more struggle than normal), engine rpm raises gradual to throttle input.
Engine is not rev happy as it was earlier. When throttle is held at a position, engine revs rise gradually to reach the specified rpm. Also, more throttle is necessary to maintain speeds. Any pointers to the issue?

Looks like a lean afr mixture
Off the BOTTLE & On the THROTTLE

John i am unable to understand why are you so keen on running your bike lean. In the long run you will end up seriously damaging
engine components. Valves to start with. What you might gain right now in terms for fuel economy by running lean will end up in
                                a costly engine repair.
Please get it retuned appropriately you will gain both in terms of mileage and performance. once the tuning is sorted have the valve clearance checked
along with the timing chain tension.
and also click the pic of the spark plug before and after tune up.
