AFAIK lockhrt999 has a dalda can exhaust from Race Concept (Don't get it, that thing rusts like a pieces of mild steel in salt water) so his mileage may be down a little bit.
sgsarthak From the picture, it looks like your bike is running lean. I suggest you clean the air filter first, oil it and then install it again. Now let the engine warm up by riding for 2 minutes (2 minutes should do it since your engine is running lean, Pulsars are lean burning engine so they run a little hotter than others) rotate the idle screw till you see 1400 rpm on the tachometer. Now turn the AFR screw till it stops, then turn it counterclockwise 2 and a 3/4th turn (2.75 turns), remove the spark plug and clean and adjust the electrode gap. Install the plug and ride for like 50 kilometers and then open the spar plug and post a picture. Ideally you should not need to tune the AFR again as this is the correct setting but if you face any problem please let us know.
I am back!

9.2 half means 4.6 full turns. Prajwal was right. Before you changing it to something else get the air filter cleaned and also spray into the carb, because it's essential to get proper tune.
After that set the screw to 2.5 full turns and ride the bike for a day. Observe the changes.

@all: Another thing, always start the bike with choke pulled no matter what season it is. Keep the bike idling for 30 seconds before starting your day on the roads.
from spark plug it seems that i have lean tuning but 4.6 turn = rich tuning.....i cudnt understand this.....n mroverr ystrday i set it to 3.5 n rode bike tday ....i feel its running sluggish ...."bhari chal ri thi".....

Dalda can. ROFL. Where did you get the idea that I get low milage and I'm using dalda can?

This is my ride.

Ah, I must have been confused. Sorry, most "FFE" here are "tooned" for higher end of rev range sacrificing FE so when you said you get on sports mode on the highway and in turn get low fuel efficiency, I thought this must be due to the dalda can exhaust.

These days I get overwhelming torque in 5th gear too. I really wished it had sixth gear or taller 5th.

Anyway I need your help. I was going to call out for you but you're here nonetheless.
My console is off since a thousand kms. It all started few thousands km back when OEM battery was dying (It died prematurely as I have 55W halogen setup). On a good day, the console suddenly died and it resurrected after a few hundred kms. It worked fine like nothing happened for few hundred kms then it died again and this loop continues for a thousand km. Its behavior didn't change even after new battery. Now days when I take the bike out for a ride, the console starts with its regular pre-diagnostic check and will go in dead state if I don't crank engine before it finishes those checks. Currently, when this console is working, only tacho works. Speedo is stuck to 0, odo is of course static, no backlight and no indicator lits. Also when I kill the engine, the console dies with it but doesn't turn back on for the rest of the day.

What do you reckon? I've inherent feeling that console itself is fine and some plug or something is loose. When this issue started and when it turned back and ran fine and died again, it wasn't because potholes shocks, it kinda developed a mind of its own.

Hi guys. I'll be riding from Mumbai to Goa on 16th January on a Pulsar 180 UG4 model. From my observations, pulsar's digital console doesn't accurately show the fuel content inside the tank. So i'll be relying on the odometer. My question is, what range can I expect before the bike hits reserve? Thanks in advance.

Hard to tell without having a look at the bike, could be a loose connection but I highly doubt it. I suspect the BCU has gone kaput, you may start by checking the connections and cleaning the contact points with isopropyl alcohol. Check for burned or melted wires too, since you run 55w bulb it may have caused strain on the cables, but Pulsars' cables take upto 110watt easily. Could be a bad relay too, I'm not sure where Pulsar have relays located, I'd check the wiring diagram and should let you know in the morning.

about 500 km on NH17 and a bit more on NH4.

Hey @lockhrt999 i'd just like to mention that... our bike doesn't work on 2-2.5 setting at all... it feels really sluggish and stalls really often... and while riding gives the feel that its running out of fuel... and also the engine gets heated a lot... moreover also gives a feeling of putting too much pressure on engine while riding... also like say that day when @sgsarthak posted his sp pics I also got mine sp opend to see the condition and voila it was chocolate brown (like that Cadbury colour) so I've kept it as permanent...( felt really proud that day as I myself achieved that perfect tune...

Tell me what is the mileage that you get per litre when you ride your bike in the range of 75-85 kmph with proper gear changes in proper RPM range.
Thanks for all your inputs.
Cheers!!
I get a mileage of '45kmpl' when I took it out from showroom, got a mileage of 50-52 kmpl (after I got it retuned by SC guy and a local mech. as I was facing probs with my tuning) in every condition be it rough or riding sanely... but after that I got it reduced (deliberately) and now it gives me between 45-48kmpl in every condition... and as @lockhrt999 told about rpm setting (the idle screw setting) now I've kept it at 1000 rpm at first crank (i.e. ICE COLD engine) and it goes upto 1200-1250(max) at boiling hot engine...

@Cleaner I did his tuning at keeping his rpm at 1500 and tuned it from closed to open through the engine hum (i.e. is should be uniform and regular) and the rpm needle being stable with the exhaust note sound and took a ride with either him or me as pillion and went upto 80-82 kmph (and acc. to me easily)...

One thing I cudn't understand @Cleaner and @lockhrt999 that how come his spark plug is showing a lean setting and he's getting a mileage of 40 (all conditions) and his AFR screw is set to 4.6 (full 360) turns which means fairly rich...??? "khopadiya tanna gaya hamra toh" (UP language:- when something shocking happens)

You may have to increase the idle a little bit at first, to around 3000 RPM, then adjust it. After the adjustments are done, set the idle to around 1400 RPM.

Well, then your bike has developed a character of its own, you need to adjust it to whatever your bike likes, just make sure the ratio is correct.

About your second problem, the "Starter Lockout Switch" seems defective, it's a small switch that tells the starter motor that the clutch has been engaged. Try cleaning it first, if it does not resolve the issue, you may have to replace it. Buy it at SVC and install it, installing it should be simple and it costs around 50 rupees.
