Batteries don't last more than 4 years.

Do you open the choke before starting every time in the winter? If you're facing starting issue every winter that means you're not kind to your bike! You're not pulling choke and not the bike is running at optimal AFR.

Not only it's little difficult to start engine when it's cold but also batteries aren't efficient when they are cold.

I never ever had any starting trouble even when it's 7 degrees outside and the bike hasn't been used for more than 15 days, it still started at first crank.

If the battery is dead, then the starting coil makes entirely different sound when you try to crank. The sound is like crrrr crrr.

There shouldn't be any oil on spark plug. If there is, then I guess you're facing a bigger issue my friend and that issue won't go away even if you change the spark plugs.

i think it should be the battery... did you ever pour water into the battery during 4 years... also try checking the water level in battery... also you told about oil on your spark plug tip... we all know that oil is an extremely poor conductor of electricity. it won't ground the spark. the oil in the spark plug tubes will cause resistance though, and that's where the poor ignition is likely coming from so get your oil seals and whatever sealing things like gasket etc... checked... yes you should get it checked by SVC... all the best for your ride...

Yes the local service guy poured distilled water before charging but he got some dam low quality charger. I will
recharge it in Bajaj service center.

Dead Motorcycle Battery - Motorcyclist Magazine
At the last in the above link it says
"How long should a battery last? If you got four or five years, count yourself lucky."
But my doubt is not clear. I want to know whether battery has something to do with the
kilometers that we ride. My bike completed around 27000 kms in 4 and half years. Some others
may have done 40000 kms or less than me. Does it mean riding more kms like 40000kms in
3 years gives less battery life below 3 years ? Does it mean if I drive less I get long
maximum battery life of 5 years as I am on the lucky side as said at the end in the link ?
Last year the exide battery price was Rs 1500 but now they say it is Rs 2000. If I give
my old battery they are ready to give Rs 100. Is it true ?
I want to know how many months I can still push start the bike as my bike is close to
6 months to reach battery life of 5 years. I have no trouble in riding it like sudden
unknown stalls except if I run out of petrol.

AFAIK its like a bottle of jam, it has its expiry date(i.e. JEEVANKAAL)... it lies in your hand how much you relish it... so it has nothing to do with how much you run...some people run like 50000 or more and some don't even cross the 20000 mark... so it depends...

Here in Lucknow this is the price... once I got my replaced by amco and my friend got his avenger battery replaced so it was like 100-250 rs max... see if you can get thorugh else koi nai

I don't know and wouldn't recommend that as well because a bad battery can cause engine problems (like various noises) or even elctricals as well... fuse go kaput some times because of sudden high voltage supply...

You have got it opposite. More you ride the bike, longer lives the battery. Less you ride, short lives the battery. Mine died at 20k km/4 years.
Change to amaron as it's better than exide. I bought new amaron battery at 1600 without exchange. I'm using old battery with a UPS which supports my network, WiFi, mobile chargers.

Sooner you accept the reality better it is.

When I said longer, I was referring to kms ridden not the years.
See, measuring battery life in years is completely irrelevant. Lemme tell you why, by giving you an example.

My next door guy bought P220 one year after mine P180. He replaced the battery one year before I changed mine. So technically his battery lasted only 2 years where mine lasted 4 years. But he ran 45k kms where I did paltry 20k km .

So even if his battery lasted 2 years I'd say he got double returns. And I'm not even counting that P220 puts heavier load on battery, also the battery bajaj provided wasn't maintenance free like ours. If he had maintenance free (water wali) battery it would have lasted another year, giving him back triple returns .

I measured batteries in terms of their average w.r.t. kms ridden, which is my own thinking. It's not a rule out there, you don't have to be wrong.
Cheers.

750 sounds a bit on the higher side because i think bajaj spares are much cheaper compared to hero and honda.. y dont u just ask in a regular spares shop wat is the cost of the coneset part (labor should be around 150~200rs max)

There is no separate pilot lamp cover. All transparent glasses you see at the front is a single piece plastic glass. And no, you can't buy it alone from the Bajaj as it only comes with whole headlight assembly.

But there's a workaround, there are a lot of third party manufacturers who make that headlight glass. You can easily procure such glass in garages situated near Vishal. Last time I heard they were selling at 100 rs a piece. If you're getting one then get me one too. Come to my place I'll fix them.

prajwalmd: Hey you said you're hearing some sound when engine is at high RPM. When taahir was at my place last time I remembered I and another guy from that time faced something similar to that. Now, this may sound silly, next time you out riding your bike and you think you're hearing that sound again just press the black plastic dial around key hole with your left hand thumb and see if that sound goes away or not. Tell me what happens.

Arre na re I've tried every thing... "Sam Daam Dand Bhed" kuch nahi hua... this sunday i'm going for my 4th service... and yess that 'trrr' noise is of the rocker... I confirmed it from sendoh as well... and he mention the same symptoms as I experienced... this time i'll get rid of every weird sound that my ride gives and scares me to goosebumps... I have often been also hearing sounds while take the first crank of the day... and that's really scary and annoying too... and does not happen in any other pulsar... now I wont be describing the sound coz I will be crowned as the King of Onomatopoeia...

Hey lockhrt999 an advice, y don't you put a list of all the DIYs you done till date... Good idea na.... I know i'm a genius... and i'll be charging a very minimal amount as the royalty amount for this idea...
