the mechanic tightened the handle by a little, the previous problem of jerk is now gone but the handle feels a little tight, and while driving there is more pressure on the right wrist, bike is almost a yr old, clocked 10k kms, he says maybe the bearings need to be changed...wat do u suggest lockhrt999

its better you get the 'cone-set' checked and replace the entire set if necessary. sometimes just replacing the ball bearings and re-greasing it will solve the problem.
over tightening the big nut, will cause difficulty in handling and pain in your arm/wrist as you mentioned. if the bearings have failed you may notice a slight 'disconnect' kind of feeling from the steering stem column (i.e. some play) when you use the front brake.
With the front wheel off the ground you should be able to just give the handle bar a firm nudge from one end and it should move to the other side and come back to a middle-ish position.
i cant explain it in words but that's exactly what i have faced in the past and am now facing on my dio which is going in for coneset replacement on monday (it was previously replaced an yr ago.. and i blame the bad roads that have plagued hyderabad recently for causing this or maybe the quality of spares is not as good as the oem which lasted me almost 6yrs)

Exactly, i was getting the disconnect feeling, thats why i took it to the mechanic. Th mechanic even gave a firm nudge as u said, and tighthened the ring type screw which is below the handle bar. The disconnect feeling has gone but, but there seems to be more pressure on my right wrist...!!

just 11 months old and very well maintained, still....

how much does our cone set cost and how much do the bearing cost??

11 months is too early, but if the bike has been thru bad roads/speed breakers frequently then that could have caused the coneset to go kaput. Ive heard p220's initially had a coneset problem.. it maybe due to improper assembly at factory or maybe the quality of the cup/cone/bearings has come down causing early failure.
better get this sorted out at the asc, and try to get it done under warranty (you may have to haggle with them) - if you cannot get it replaced under warranty, then ensure u keep the repair bills so that if it goes kaput again you can screw them.

not sure how much it would cost for a pulsar, but i think it would be around 400rs (for the entire cone-set i.e.including ball bearings)+ labor (around 150rs)
only the bearings will cost around 50rs+labor
replies in bold...

Taahir: Get them changed in warranty if you can. Otherwise tell mechanic to fiddle with the screws.
You can get pro biker gloves at 500 in pimpri, even though they are cheap on money they looked very well sorted like mine cramster. If I had wanted my family to permit me to do something rightful, I'd have emotionally blackmailed them. Tell them how insecure the riding is, in pune and your friend's hand just came out in an accident, how you saw one guy getting killed on the bike at some night. Show them SAW movie.
xionite : What's going to be the new color this time? And do you own a paint shop? And have you ever considered putting an exhaust fan for the engine? Your bike is still the most hot 180 on this thread.
JASMINE RIDER: Hi, long time. How does that exhaust sound? How's that rear tyre? And front has gone bald, mahh.

Bad news guys, i called the service advisor of GEMS bajaj and told him the current scenario, i cannot claim it under warranty because it said to be a wear and tear part...

He said actually at 10k this coneset stuff has to be either greased or changed, as a periodic maintenance, depending upon the condition...had the problem been under 5k kms, i could have got warranty.

And the total cost including labor would be around 750 bucks...!!!

I read a couple of threads on xbhp and saw that coneset has to be fixed or replaced at 11-12k, so i guess the service advisor isnt trying to rip me..!

wat say..???

i get emotionally upset when i find out my bike is ill, she is very important part of my life...

I don't know that needs to be changed at every 10k km. Look for it in the manual.
