hooked to UPS I mean. Isn't UPS part of computer? It feels very high tech to say with computer.
And everything is plug and play, it looks like the part of the bike itself.

So you mean to say that you are running a PC from your bike's battery. IMO it might reduce the battery life if the load is greater on the bike's battery.

          • Guys, My Pulsar 180 UG3, 2007 model, has completed 20,000 kms recently. I have just replaced the chain-sprocket kit on my Pulsar 180 UG3 to a chain sprocket kit from Pulsar 180 UG4:

Stock setup was 15/43 in .428 chain pitch. Chain had 124 links. (Ratio= 2.833, normal)

New Setup is 14/39 in .520 chain pitch. O-Ring Chain has 104 links. (Ratio= 2.766, slight overgearing.)

Initially, the bike was seeming very heavy to pull, and I knew something was wrong. Then I got the chain loosened and its much better now. Got it sprayed with chain spray.

Effect: The bike has been overgeared very slightly. Since I have R15 tyres which undergeared my bike, now the setup is back to normal. Around 50 kmph @ 4 krpm. Rollons might have been affected slightly only.

Visually, the large rear sprocket is looking dashing! The pull has been "slightly" compromised but its not that noticable except for initially. I did a 560 kms trip on Sunday on that chain sprocket setup and its doing fine!

Problem: The chain pitch is so long that despite only 104 links, the sprocket kit had to be set on the tighter side, and I might need to get some chain links cut, to adjust the chain later on as I continue using it.

My suggestion to UG3 owners: For over-gearing & touring, Go for P200's sprocket kit, which is 14/38 with 104 links so that it overgears respectably, and not just "slightly". Then, open the chain cover and use a Plastic Chain guard from "Discover 135 sports" costing Rs. 74, and get a hole drilled into the front part, using a heated screwdriver. Don't ride without chain guard.

Images of the Pulsar 180 UG3 with new chain sproc. kit. Pardon the bad looks of the tyre/ wheel, it has just been through 560 kms in one day:

Posting pictures is getting a troublesome job, the picture approval on xbhp took lot of time. Wasn't unable to do from picasa !!
              How did you upload ??

And what advanced issues to start with, right now bike is quite good,
Only issue I am finding is engine oil level dropping a tad earlier and a bit of overheat.. can that be due to high revving riding style which means pulling bike to 8k rpm in every gear from 3rd up ?

                Hail Picasa.

May be the tappets need to be tightened for oil level drop.
As long as you don;t touch the red area, engine's good.

Rest, people here would give you better opinions.

Dont go for 220 or 200.
Go for the stock one which is avaliable in SC. Ask the brand and confirm it to be ROLON Brand only.
Cost will come upto 1300rs including FR Sprocket, RE sprocket and chain... 3 things buddy.

i guess another 100 for fitting.

He might also change the rubber bush which is present in the alloy (looks like thick rubber spokes type), consider additional Rs 80.

EDIT - Phew its been days i havent posted anything in this thread.

Bike is giving problems but not much...Cant let go her.

                        • help reqd

Hey guys , need help, especially from tech guys, My bike is facing severe problem in gear shifting, Its gone very hard and now its so hard like forcefully shifting it. I took it to both Authorized service center and service guy who knows my bike well. ASC guy immediately said change clutchplate and pressure plate and gear shifter. And were not encouraging any thoughts on even checking it (though I know checking is very tedious n lengthy job). And changing them would cost a bit heavy on pocket. Any thing else that you guys can make out of this , which I can get checked ?

Check clutch play, check & adjust chain slackness and wash, lubricate it| Remove the gear lever and refit it. Do these and then check how does it goes.

Haven't tried gear lever refitting. Let me get that done :-/

                              • Today, when I was ripping the bike suddenly the rpm needle started dancing on it own @6K (constant throttle) it was going way upto 8K and then fall down to 4K rise again this all when the throttle was constant. Looks like a battery or alternator problem.
