^^ Hi i too bought p180 just 2 days back Reason being perfect fit for my requirement.
As initial inspection do check for all the electricals, tyre grip, disc & drum brake are working without any sound, oil level, inspect thoroughly for any scratches or dent, footrest condition (2 out of 3 bikes i check had bent plates for footrest), etc.

Run in period is 2k kms as per manual. 4-5k rpm for initial 1000 kms and 5-6k rpm for next 1000 kms.

As per the info i have gathered- stick to bajaj's oil for 5k kms atleast and then switch to Motul SS or mineral oil as desired.

As precaution try not to cross the rpm limits as mentioned though occasional burst are advisable, try not to ride at constant speed and vary gears.

Check with local xbhpians for preferred SVCs.

    • New pulsar 180

      Hi folks,

I have few queries regarding new pulsar 180 which i got just 2 days back! ODO reading is 14kms only.

The idle rpm is set to 1.2k by the showroom guys.
The engine however goes up to 2-2.5k rpm on starting the bike like auto choke, comes back to 1.2k after opening the throttle slightly.
Idle rpm stays at 1.2k when driven for short distance say 2-3 kms.

However when driven for say 6-8 kms the idle rpm reaches to 2k when about to park.

Is it normal??? I don't have a clue as am new to bajaj's bikes. (Previous bike TVS Apache)

Also the bike feels stiff(in terms of suspension) as compared to used p180 (my roomies own one).

I would visit the SVC next week so will surely check with them but still would like to know if its common norm across pulsars?? (I read few posts on the forum regarding same)

      Thanks!!

      • I am still stuck with Tyre Problem.
Both tyres have worn out, though rear one "Zapper Wyde", can last 1k km more, but grip in wet on slight lean is not confidence inspiring. Recent change of chain sprocket has done a world of good to balance in wet.

I see many people using 130/80 rear tyres or whole R15 v2.0 Tyre setup on Pulsar 180. There will obviously be harmfull effect of this, but do they nullify extra grip provided.

Plus are there some more better tyres available in stock set up, Zapper Nylogrip?

(free service) which one is better.. so that I will buy the bike from that company showrooms..

              Thanks.
Just check that all the things like tyres, electricals, paint for any problems. Nothing major. For, run-in follow the service manual, for me I did'nt crossed 3K rpm for first 1,000 kms and then 5K rpm till 2,000 kms. Don't travel at a constant throttle, keep varying the throttle input so that the engine and other parts wears out evenly across the rpm range. Just use the oil provided by SC till second service or till the run-in is completes. The recommended oil specs are 20w50, some of the good oils are Motul, Valvoline. Never use car oil in bike it will cause clutch slipping and hence reduced clutch life.

The varying rpm at the start is normal, it also signifies that the auto choke is working fine. The idle rpm is slightly increased deliberately by the mechanics while delivery, happened with me too, don't worry wait for thee first service everything will setle down. The suspension might need getting used to, give some 2,500 kms for yourself to get accustomed to the bike ergonomics.

I am not much into tyre thingie, but I have too seen people using R15 tyres with no problems.

I wanted to confirm this few days ago but forgot.
                          R15 v2.0 rear tyre fits fine on P180 UG4 and P220.
The one who did the job recently said the performance has improved slightly but noticeably. speed per RPM is also increased by 1 or 2.
It has good wet grip and super dry grip.
                          Costed him Rs. 2900.
