  • Help Needed

    Hi Guys,
    Help me out Here.
    I am from Delhi and ride Pulsar UG5, Model Oct 2011, Done 12000 Kms. I am thinking to go for K&N Filter. After some research I have came to know R-1060 is meant for Pulsar 180. But Here is one more thing that I pass By. Check Out K&N BA-2201 Air Filter
    Here are my Questions:
    1. Which One is Good?
    2. I read somewhere that K&N filters are made for liquid cooled engines. Is it good to install it in Pulsar 180?
    3. And the most Important. tell me address of any good mechanic who is capable of completing the whole work (I mean proper jetting and filter).

        So it is definitely going to be > 5k unless you are getting those parts much cheaper in the aftermarket.
        the s.c people itself asked me this 5 k. actually,that s.c guy is my close friemd and,always he helped me a lot in payments by cutting some amounts every times. this is also icluding that cutting.

          lol that 300 Amps was a pun. Current won't run through our body even though in reality we are connected to one battery terminal always.

          Well buddy, actually switches are designed for 55W as entire pulsar lineup use same set of switch. Secondly I'm pretty much sure that relay doesn't increase electricity output. About P180 you tried, it must have had loose or burnt wires.

          I've checked the wire harness. I'm sure that it can even handle 400-500W electricity load. I mean why shouldn't it? because, you see, some of the household wires are thinner than the bike's wires and still provide electricity to 700W computer or 1500W hair dryer since ancient time.

          Only HIDs need relay because to lit it, meaning to ionize the xenon gas, blue shinny glittering electric arc has to be created. To create that arc our poor 12V battery input needed to be step up beyond several thousands voltage. Add to that HIDs suffer from reactance (negative resistance), which incandescent/halogens don't. Including those factors an HID creates super duper motherfcuking high induction. If switches used hastily that induction actually can create another electric arc inside switch box which will result in melting something.

          K&N makes same filter for entire pulsar lineup. Plonk it in the bike yourself as very easy.
          Don't go for upjetting right away. Run bike on new filter for few days experience it, see if the engine is running too lean (= too hot). If it doesn't I don't think there's any point upjetting. < I can be wrong though.

            • Ignition problem in pulsar 180 (ug3)

              Dear Xbhp members,

              I own a Bajaj Pulsar 180 UG3 model (2006). For the past 3 months I experience a strange electrical problem in my bike. The problem is that the self starter (/motor) is automatically starting (working) even while the engine is ON. Even when I turn off the ignition and the engine kill switch, the self starter keeps on starting the engine and it drains the battery. Kindly provide me a solution for this problem. I love my bike very much but this problem irritates me a lot.

              • 2years 11 months, 43,400kms completed... Alive and kicking with stock settings.

                The more I ride, the more I fall in love with it. Will complete 3 years in next month.

                    To balaji.ganesan - Coming back to the topic- Please check -

                    1) Starter Switch
                    2) Connections from the switch to the main starter unit.

                    As per your query, the starter is working fine, its functioning. So need not worry on that.
                    Problem lies in the switch since its working is to start the motor (Since its already being turned on all the time)...

                    Look out for loose connections too. Check battery terminals.

                    • rejetting of carb....

                      hi ! i own a pulsar 180 ug4. It had run 5216 kms & now i have fitted a k&n filter on it.....after fitting it d engine was getting heated very fast. Then i had only tuned the carb to a rich mixture...now its not getting heated soon...but i don't know whether it is tuned correctly or not..can you please help me to understand whether my bike is going ok or am hurting him... too tensed...here am not getting a good mechanic also....no option...i fear they would damage my bike.. please help me out guys....

                          Remove the K&N, its crap. Being very honest to you.
                          Go to Bajaj SVC, give it for service - add comments, increase in pick up and fuel economy.
                          The bike will be back to normal. Make sure he performs the IDLING check on your bike too.
                          Remove the K&N at home, dont tell the SVC guys that you had install one as this would terminate your warranty. Change the filter at home. Dont even tell them that you had installed K&N.

                          • @Eshan: Congrats Man! You're doing it fast and furiously reaching half a ton. I am only at 26K now instead of regularly riding the bike.:P

                            The lower neck of the head is leaking oil heavily, must be the blew gasket and I replaced it a few thousands kms ago only. Will get it checked next time.

                            @lockhrt: Are you continuing with 55w bulb?

                              Btw Lockhrt can you install a 55w bulb on our steeds?? is there any modification required??? or just plug and play of the bulb?? i need an upgrade in the lights section...

                                Oh... yeah I forgot to mention about the picture in the last post, its SPECTACULAR! both the view and bike. (Which place BTW?) Does'nt look that old. Do you wash it regularly, I do it once in a month and sometimes once in 2 months or untill the bike is serviced.:P
