yesterday 2d free service done after 4500 kms. told to the s.c head that "i will bring oil from outside. no objections then, but he said that. "here we r using the best oil"then told him that whether it is bajaj oil. then he told that "its not". but he dont like reveal it.then used motul oil for top up. filled it by me itself
. that time one s.c mechanic told me that the warranty will go by doing this.
is it true?sigpicmy bike is my sign

It happened with me too and after tuning carburetor again my mileage become 48+Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostMileage figures drastically dropped from 49-50kmpl to 34-35kmpl from the last service. Don't know the cause, but sure about something wrong happening inside the belly of my 180...
@Anoop Desai
clocked 39000

Thats a marketing gimmick! No engineer can drain out the oil and tell which brand it belongs to!Originally posted by JASMINE RIDER View Postyesterday 2d free service done after 4500 kms. told to the s.c head that "i will bring oil from outside. no objections then, but he said that. Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "Wow! What a Ride!"

Well as been told by one of my friend earlier it is a strategy of the company.Originally posted by JASMINE RIDER View Postyesterday 2d free service done after 4500 kms. told to the s.c head that "i will bring oil from outside. no objections then, but he said that. Well here in my town they r saying the same thing. There is so so so much of pressure on bajaj for selling the dtsi engine oil on the dealer that he is forced to say all that crap.
Well seriously ask the person which oil is lt.. Lets see what he says after that see his face expression.
Infront of the s.c. Guys I put moto 4 gold elf well u should see the person who provides the oil his face becomes so small man I just love to see his face at that time.
Well relax yaar they will give u the warranty don't worry.
Anyways all the best do let us know the review on the current oil u have put. Shall be waiting.click me

Open your manual and see in the engine oil page, it is clearly mentioned that any oil which meets the Bajaj's specification for 'oils tobe used in their bike' could be used.Originally posted by JASMINE RIDER View Postmany thanks man....it was very very help full to me

OR
Go and get a size 19 spanner and use it for changing the oil at your home... I do it at my home only....

@all those who are facing stiff gear shifts and/or false neutrals, check your engine oil. Especially if you're on that crap Bajaj oil. This problem also happens when the oil isnt optimum. If it exceeds the upper limit or if it falls below the halfway mark of the accepted range.
@abhi: You might be a victim of what they call 'CO tuning'. This is a Bajaj service manual protocol where they check your CO volume percentage and tune your carb according to a preset range. 1.35-1.75, I think. It could be that they found it to be a bit lean and richened it. But given the propensity of Bajaj mechanics being bigger idiots than their job description says, someone might just have tinkered with it without much of a reason.

+ i think it will also b there when shifting gears before desired rpm. there will b tuk noice when shift down in higher rpms. thats natural. it will b better to engage gears just before bike became stop. when engaging gears in running it will easily engage to neutral. just smoothly touch gear lever whenever want neutral just before stop, in running condition. it will b tough to find in stationary situations for some bikes with ignition ON. that times just turn off and engage just moving bike. it will simply engage.Originally posted by VD17 View Post@all those who are facing stiff gear shifts and/or false neutrals, check your engine oil. there are 29 things are written in our service leaf to do. i just like to know "just what things are they doing from that long list"@abhi: You might be a victim of what they call 'CO tuning'. Yes, any other oil with the same specifications as recommended by Bajaj is liable tobe filled in the bike. It's the 'lack of knowledge' of owners that SC are able to take over them.Originally posted by JASMINE RIDER View Postabhii...that means u like to say that, any oils with same specification can b used?

hey ppl
hi fellow pulsar maniacs..
am nikhil, from bangalore..
i ride a pulsar 180 ug4, 2010 model.. it has run 10k kms.....
i have been experiencing some probs with the bike...
a few to name are:
1. the engine feels very rough and does not rev freely, when forced, it makes a lot of noises, like as though am running the engine dry(w/o oil).
2. i have been getting a mileage of around 38, but the bike doesn go as fast as a pulsar 180 must be going.... feels very stressed..
3. there is some kind of noise in the engine, sounds like some chain is getting churned, even at idel.. the SC guys said its engine knocking and nothing can be done to fix it....
hoping to see some replies and opinions about the issues in my bike....
regards

1) Does not revv freely??? What do you mean by that?? roughness may be due to loose tappets, old engine oil, bad carburetor tuning, I am also facing this currently and going to sort this out in coming service.
2) Did'nt understand what you are trying to say at all?? Engine is ought to make noise and Pulsars are not as silent as Honda's or Suzu's.
3) That's not knocking, there is churning noise in all the Pulsars. It's normal behavior. If there is knocking then get the carburetor tuned correctly.
Thanks.
