  • This Bajaj oil is getting on my nerves. My gear shifts are harder than a porn star's genitalia and finding neutral while the engine is idling is as 'easy' as Pak's efforts in last night's match.

    • yesterday there was a 80 kms trip. bike was very smooth, gear shifts was just awesome. i was waiting for that gear changes, really loved it.. gear lever was always very eager for gear changes like it is ready for a feather touch. really loved it. also accelerator was very smoothsmooth sound. i think motul done the job. there was a friend with me in my bike, he was praising my bike every moment. also found that after long drive bike is simply maintain higher gears in low rpm without any effort.my average speed was 55- 60.mileage was 55.55kms after riding my bike he was very impressed. hearing his words, i felt very proud as a pulsarate
      sigpicmy bike is my sign

Thats how frustrated I was, man. It was just dismal. I dont even know if they put in the correct grade. Anyway, drained and put in Motul 5100 now. Much MUCH better.

          • i've clocked 100k Kms on my Pulsar UG1
now the rear shock-absorber are stiffed and there is a leak in them.

should i go for suspension overhauling or repair them?
which one do good for me?

My suggestion replace them, if you could. Or none other than replacing the springs and refilling new oil into the damper.

              • is the ug2 & 3's rear suspension a straight fit or it need some alteration ?

any idea how much the rear shock costs?

                • Replace the shock absorbers. Rebuilding won't make it last long. last week i checked they costed 1600 for a pair

                    • Speedo Error checked by GARMIN GPS:

DEVICE USED: Garmin Etrex H which is one of the best series of Garmin.

                      Till 50kmph:

Speedo reading 20kmph, GPS showing 17.2kmph.
Speedo reading 25kmph, GPS showing 21.8kmph.
Speedo reading 40kmph, GPS showing 37kmph.
Speedo reading 50kmph, GPS showing 46kmph.

Note: An error of 3-3.5 kmph in actual and speedo shown speeds.

                      After 55kmph till 70kmph

Speedo reading 60kmph, GPS showing 54kmph.
Speedo reading 65kmph, GPS showing 59kmph.
Speedo reading 70kmph, GPS showing 63.8kmph.

Note: And error of 6-7kmph is there in the actual speeds and speedo shown speeds.

One could say that these are HUGE errors.

                      Thanks.

                      • ^^ I would say these are normal readings. That much of error is dialled in by the manufacturers themselves.

                        • Well it cant be blamed only on Speedometer

it is AGPS or GPS the communication goes thru in the following way

Mobile / GPS Device communicates thru Mobile Tower and got in sync with the satellite to find the speed, and even with high end GPS devices there are possibilities of speed error due to the latency in communication

may be we can say if its 5 kms difference 2.5 kms is gps fault and 2.5 kms is speedo error

                          -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                          GPS
                          Main article: Automotive navigation system

GPS devices are positional speedometers, based on how far the receiver has moved since the last measurement. Its speed calculations are not subject to the same sources of error as the vehicle's speedometer (wheel size, transmission/drive ratios). Instead, the GPS's positional accuracy, and therefore the accuracy of its calculated speed, is dependent on the satellite signal quality at the time. Speed calculations will be more accurate at higher speeds, when the ratio of positional error to positional change is lower. The GPS software may also use a moving average calculation to reduce error.

As mentioned in the satnav article, GPS data has been used to overturn a speeding ticket; the GPS logs showed the defendant traveling below the speed limit when they were ticketed. That the data came from a GPS device was likely less important than the fact that it was logged; logs from the vehicle's speedometer could likely have been used instead, had they existed.

                          * some satnav devices may also use data from the car's systems to improve accuracy

At lower speeds it is okay, with the increase in speeds the error was also increasing although I have yet to check the top speed eooro.

The one I used uses direct communication with Satellites i.e it is a Standard GPS not A-GPS. NO TOWERS in the calculations. So, the accuracy is GOD knows.

But, the GPS was communicating with 2-3 satellites and the speed-lag was none in GPS device, even sometime the change in speed was faster than the speedometer reading. Which lets me to the conclusion that the GPS was far more accurate. The same device when I used in car showed an error of 2kmph only at certain speeds.

Yes, there is error in every device.
