Well buddy my bike has done 10078 km when this happen it had done somewhere 10032 km. Well with the old experience with BAJAJ company something always goes wrong at 10000 km when ever we complete that mark with BAJAJ. As u have mentioned hard riding well let me tell u dude I don't like to ride beyond 40 to 45 km and love to ride her on the 5 gear. Well so far for lubricating the chain that I always do it my self with a 90 grade oil which has been mentioned in the booklet.Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View Post@arjunb: Your sprocket seems tobe heavily WORE-off (as seen in picture). How did this happen? I suspect that this might only happen under some serious riding or negotiation in maintenance of chain.
One thing when the new chain sproket was being put well the condition which the BAJAJ is normaly giving will not at all last more that 10000 km. Well that's the engineer told me when I met him last at the svc.
Well above all if I also put rolon chain sproket also as it is from the after market that will also not last for more than say 5000 km. And anyways I am only going to keep this bike till january as I am shifting back to honda product as missing the reall smoothness of life, another 5 months for me with BAJAJ perthtic companyclick me

Bajaj has stock "ROLON" chain and sprockets so probability of anything other than that is zero. If you want to argue on the product quality then why did mine and some other members have their chain, sprockets running fine even after 20,000 kms. Are we extra cautious? No atleast I am not. And once you get that engineer saying again that this chain and sprocket will not last above 10,000 kms slap a 180cc piston on his head. Also, ROLON has one of the best chain and sprockets, how can you claim that they will not last more than 5,000kms?Originally posted by arjunb25 View PostWell buddy my bike has done 10078 km when this happen it had done somewhere 10032 km. Dam I think I will get the cumpling rubber roll on also change. As he did not when he replaced the sproket.
Well there is a real weiered sound when riding the bike in slow speed lets see what the duffers do to rectify it. As my favourite person the best mechanic which I had has left the company and some other assholes r taking care of it now. man oh god what will happen man dam scared for it.
Initially way back in the year 2004 because of BAJAJ company I became a b.p. Patient at the age 24 and now at the age of 31 I wonder what will happen to me.click me

arjun... while you may have had ur sprocket go kaput at about 10,000 kms...
10,000 kms is not the actual "lifespan" of a P180 chain/sprocket set.
and if someone at bajaj told you that the chain sproket needs to be changed every 10,000kms... they're taking you for a ride.
i have done over 100,000 kms on my P18OUGIII... (and i ride like a crazy person.
)
i changed the chain/sprocket set 4 times and i'm due a 5th change...
that's a average of more than 20K per set
so i can say for certain that 10,000 kms is most certainly not the normal
frequency at which you need to replace your chain sprocket.

No buddy cost around 500 to 700 only (atleast in pune)Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostAny stock 180 UG4 has ROLON chain and sprocket. My bike too has ROLON chain sprocket and they are expensive. I don't know about any Bajaj made 'diamond chain brand', tell me one.
. The diamond brand is new and they are providing for new pulsars. They have bad quality (Chain breaks, and seal leaks). Stay away from that brand, they also manufacture chain sprays. So not worth the value buddy.
Chill..Clean and lube it!Originally posted by VD17 View PostEven my chainset has started to make the typical noise of a one that is going bad when i accelerate. I crossed some 10900kms or something.
Sir, this is your intution that something can go wrong at 10K kms. If this is the case then Bajaj would be selling stuff with only 10k Kms warranty, why have they extended to 30K Kms, is it for customers like you which do think that 10K is the mark for parts to get damaged, Sorry sir but this is not got anything to do. If you so hate bajaj then why wait till Jan, why did you buy a pulsar in the first place if the hatred is more than commuting and using the vehicle for emergencies. Let me tell you that Bajaj is still preferred and operated in rural areas (we dont come from them but definitely love the way they are helping every Indian to make his dream a reality of owning two wheels)Originally posted by arjunb25 View PostWell buddy my bike has done 10078 km when this happen it had done somewhere 10032 km. Chain sprockets depend on the type of speed and maintenance you carry. As mentioned you ride around 40-50kmph. And you lube it with EP90 gear oil but i would surely ask you to clean the chain first then apply lube. Well let me tell you something every morning i red line the bike to 130 thats like 90% more of what you ride every sec, every minute, every hour. I lube the chain every week, yes its a machine. I saw the pics in the next post and I must say you do not maintain the bike well. Be it honda or even a ducati it will wreck at 10,000 kms if the maintenance is that bad.
Completely agree with you....yep buddy...28,500 kms still going good. Its the same stock chain sprocket parts i got with the bike. 5,000 kms chain sprocket?? what are they made of Condom material??? Hell no!!!!Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostBajaj has stock "ROLON" chain and sprockets so probability of anything other than that is zero. Well iam glad you became a BP patient than being a MR Late ( if you had a Ducati or something) kidding Sir. But no offence. Whats with the bajaj lingo neway???Originally posted by arjunb25 View PostYow Yow Yow I am not her to fight ok. First of all I care f to the company and there products ok. Yes you need to change the rubber coupling when changing chain sprocket set. Cost around 100 odd rs or max 150Rs.
You can open a hatred Bajaj thread if you like for all grieveinces against the brand. Please be abuse free atleast in this thread Sir.
Yep 10,000kms is so not the life span. The performance of my bike chain is still the same and perfect as per a new bike. (Man i love your green wonder)Originally posted by xionite View Postarjun... while you may have had ur sprocket go kaput at about 10,000 kms...

Arre they are just telling in case of any further problems. If you are ignoring them be ready to maintain it top notch. If not then you change it. no worries with it.Originally posted by JASMINE RIDER View Posthere my s.c also said me to change chain after 10k kms...
whats happening with bajaj!
different frequencies for different s.c.s?

@all: I am thinking of changing my chain and sprocket to that of P220 DTS-i. They have 36 Rear and 14 front.
Ohh!! if tht's really true then when you go for new chain and sprockets then do inform me, I will deposit the cash in your account and then buy 2 sets one for me and other one for you.Originally posted by Eshan-P180 View PostNo buddy cost around 500 to 700 only (atleast in pune)

This all because here at BAL they cost almost double 1300 Rs.

i was considering doing this too... but mine's a UGIII... got a shorter swing-arm.Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View Post@all: I am thinking of changing my chain and sprocket to that of P220 DTS-i. They have 36 Rear and 14 front.
shouldn't be a problem with your UGIV... tho your gearing will change..

I dont mind doing that buddy, no worries at all.
Btw can you just tell me the difference by installing a 220 chain sprocket kit. I mean what difference is present in power, mileage, pick up and reliability.sigpic

Have seen 220 and 180's swing arms in scrap shops, I guess you will also get them there at cheaper price.Originally posted by xionite View Posti was considering doing this too... but mine's a UGIII... got a shorter swing-arm.

Tall gearing. P220 sprockets will make the acceleration lazy, top speed will increase, the bike will do more speed at any rpm as compared to stock.Originally posted by Eshan-P180 View PostI dont mind doing that buddy, no worries at all.
