  • Hi, my pulsar 180 classic was serviced last week.. After the change of oil, the service guys were saying there was a problem with the valve as the slow speed cannot be corrected.. I dont know whether this problem cropped up when the service guys done soemthing to the bike. Earlier this problem was non existant.

They have put 20 W 40 oil instead of 20 W 50 oil.How will it affect the engine? do i need to change the oil to 20 W 50 immediately?

As they say, is it really the problem with the valve for the slow speed problem? I'm seriously pissed with their service.. Gurus, please answer my queries.

              • Just returned from another 200 kms round trip. The steering is making noise and is waving on braking hard, it is just too loose. Mileage returned: 50 kmpl with average speeds of 70-75 kmph.

Which is the best among them? Plus will i have to make any further modifications on my bike to accomodate the 55w bulb? How much will it cost?

                            • Head light mods for P 180

                              Hi Guys,

This is naijo, had been a silent observer of this thread for a long time. Have contributed to this group with P180 service manual in past.
Its been 2 years i have been using the 180 Ug4. amazing bike with some unique issues. It has been a good bike & stood with me for so many long rides.
Just a insight into the various head light mods that i have done in last 2 years on the bike & figured the best one out of them.

1st mod - 55w spot lamp. Got it fitted with a cut out. Amazing output, fitted with a metal clip just around the fork end & the beam could be adjusted while riding. Good out put on road, but a battery killer, also used to blow off the main fuses now & then. had to scrap this setup as it was killing battery & forcing to push start. Total cost - spot lamp - 250, fork clip -30 wiring & fitting -100.

2nd mod - Skoda projector assembly fitted inside stock head lamp. Had sourced a skoda headlamp assembly from junk & took out the projecter which had german made steel reflector & original lens. Great output but soon the wiring related to head lamp started burning smell & the mechanic warned that it will burn the whole wiring if used continuously. scrapped
                              Total cost - Skoda HL assembly - 500(junk) - fitting 100

Final mod - This is some thing which i had used in my P150 Ug1. This is old & most reliable mod so many riders have tried on Pulsars for years. I had an old P150 UG 1 round head light assmebly which i saved while selling my 1st bike. All i had to do is go to HM - Ambassador service center & get a reflecter set. The Amby reflector is a direct fit & to my luck the service center guys had a original BOSCH reflector with a front glass & steel or metal reflector. Now you all know that the new pulsar comes with a huge HL assembly, which i had to remove except the plastic lamp shade which holds the meter console. Now for installing the round headlight all i had to do is just go to a near by welding shop, cut 2 iron pieces of a regular measuring scale length & width with 2 holes on both sides. Easy fix ugly looks. I know that i can beautify the whole setup but it hardly matters to me. All i care is the best output & this one did.

Review Amby reflector : It works amazing, the beam is good & length is also far. No wiring issues or Battery drain, the stock 35 w bulb does wonders. I specially recommend this for people who are going for HID setup as it has H4 socket & the metal - glass reflector will never melt while giving the best beam output. On this mod all i had to spend was 400 for reflector, 30 Rs for iron bars. If you are going for the HL round assembly it wont cost you more than 300. I have done real long rides on single lane highways & never had any low light issues. reach out to me if you need any help with the setup.

I have added the pics of the mods in a web album
