@rana: Even i faced the same problem couple of weeks back.Noticed the sound more when the clutch was engaged.Felt as if the brake was constantly rubbing the rear tyre and even the bike was moving more towards right rather than maintaining a steady line.Had shown it to all the bajaj service centre guys and all they did was oil and oil and more oil. These guys know nothing about bikes.Fed up with their work i took it to a roadside mechanic. He took the bike for a very short ride , came back and told me that the rear wheel needs to be properly aligned.Within 5 mins the work was done and he told me to take the bike for a short ride, and it was perfectly fine.By the way even the service centre guys told me i need to replace the entire chain for just 11000kms.
How many kms have you done?A Smile is a curve that sets everything straight.

Pulsar 180 classic
I own a 2003 Pulsar 180 classic.
the main problems I am facing is poor mileage & vibration.
I have shown this to many mechanics, they say that the carb needs to be replaced.
They say that once the settings are changed, it cannot be done, regarding the vibration , they say that Pulsar 180 has vibration problem & cant be solved.

Iam running stock chain sprocket for 27,000kms till date... all I do is clean and lube it every week. So i think it will last another 10-15,000kms. Did you have a crash or got hit your bike in that area???is the sprocket not bent or damaged...if this is the case then yes you might need it....what you can do is inspect it for dents, chipping, assimilarity between tooths and rusting....if all clear then no need to change it.Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostChain life depends on how it is maintained. A properly maintained chain will easily last as much as 25K kms. I am running on stock chain and sprocket@18k kms.
@abhichotu--- can't agree more on your comment (perfectly said)...btw i have 2,000 more kms on my chain.

Slackness is proper, no dent, no damage, not bent as well. It was oiled once every 2 weeks.Originally posted by VD17 View PostIs your chain slackness proper? Try oiling the chain and then see. Was your bike running on a dry chain for long?
I guess I will check with the servicing guy just 2 houses next to mine.
I really did not believe what Bajaj serv cntr. told me

Ohh, I get it what you are saying. The same sound is in my bike too. It sounds like their is another engine hidden under headlight. I reckon it comes because the intarnals of the headlight are loose and vibrate especially BCU, there's no proper socket where the BCU can sit comfortably. It hangs by a loose rubber strip.Originally posted by surya teja View PostAm pretty sure that its no the sound from exhaust. As XIONITE has mentioned, it appears only around 4000 to 4500rpm.
Anyways, had cleaned the chained today with diesel and then lubricated it with tvs truchain spray.
This might help.Originally posted by ranadipsg View PostHi Folks,
This is my first ever problem with my pulsar 180 UG4.
I hear a sound that makes me feel that some moving object is probably touching the sides when the bike is running.
I checked with bajaj serv cntr, the guy told that it is problem with the sprocket and needs replacement (will cost INR 1200). I do not think that he did right checking (sincerely I do not trust them 100%).
I do not understand how sprocket can make sound. Neither I see that it is bent nor I see that it is damaged!
The sound seems to be coming out from in between the engine and rear wheel. It looked like the chain is making sound, so with the center stand on, I tried to catch the origin of sound running the engine (on 1st and 2nd gear), but this sound was not there.
It is audible when the bike is on move and I hold the clutch (bike is free), otherwise when the gear is in action, the sound of engine hides this sound.
It is awful chak chak sound with interval of approximately 0.30 seconds.
Please help, I am just clueless.
Regards,
R

.The life of drive chain is rated 10,000Km only officially. If we don't lube it ourselves every 200-500 km then it dies in 10,000km running. I have seen many pulsars drive chain having caught rust before 5K.Originally posted by arjunb25 View Postguys what would be the chain would be for as my 10,000 km mark is coming close and also if suppose this kind of a sound is not there should i leave it they way it is right know or u suggest me to get it replaced plus get the new sproket also is it safe do so do tell me the price for this work thanks
Enjoy!!. I used to cover my shoes with plastic bags and tie their neck with rubber-band. Engine doesn't mind getting muddy.Originally posted by JASMINE RIDER View Postmates anyone tried to put a mud flap or anything like that to avoid mud from tyre? its too much in this raining days,,,,,

Seriously do that. Visit road side mechanic.Originally posted by ranadipsg View PostSlackness is proper, no dent, no damage, not bent as well. It was oiled once every 2 weeks.
