  • i'm having handling problems on my pulsar ug4

fellow xbhpians told me that it is due to some bearing
but i forgot to ask the repairing cost

How much should it cost me ?
how important it is to feel strong,
    rather than just being strong.

Wow!! That's really a very long journey indeed! 1L Kms is a great achievement for any bike and still running strong (? Is it? ). How many times have you re-built the engine? and also share some must do points to maintain bike at such a long mileage and beating.

      Thanks for sharing that.

        Brilliant!!!!
Where do you attribute the success? I mean what did you do with the bike? like abhi's asking How do you maintain your bike?
The pistons were changed once, right?
and about suspension, changed 3 times, could you please elaborate about it please?

Looking at my current millage I think I'll need another 13 years to reach 1lac milestone. . Let's hope they stock spares till then.

It maybe related to cone set. It costs ~300 Rs.

I too experience some resonating sound at 3500-4000 rpm. but it happens only in 2nd and 4th gear and disappears as soon as i change the gear. Do you experience the same thing?
            Any help would be appreciated.

thanks. and yes it runs "strong".

pick up is top notch. top speed is above 135 speedo indicated.

Engine rebuilt twice. i don't remember the first KM reading.
but the second one was at 91,000 kms ish.

one very inportant thing is changing the engine oil on time.
              used only 20W50 oil.
when i used mineral oil i changed it every 1200 kms. (overkill? nope.)
              sometimes even sooner.

for synthetic oil (Motul 300V) i changed every 8000 kms.
keeping an eye on oil levels and top up whenever required.

the Pulsar engine is made to be abused.
or atleast that is what it'll tell you.

wash. grease. oil. replace parts when required.
              and sometimes before it's required.
do all of the above almost compulsively.

              i work for myself...
so i've been "blessed" with "two-stroke" kinda nursing time with the bike.

when the bike was in it's two year warranty period...
i made sure i "oversaw" all the service carried out at the Probiking service centres.
(yes the weren't happy about it. but i "insisted". since it was part of the Probiking creed. "watch your bike being serviced")

after the two year warranty ran out.. bye bye Probiking.
              seriously those guys are idiots.

have a good/honest/hardworking independent mechanic who's tended to the bike since.

as in... i replaced the rear shock-absorbers.
for the front suspension... i changed the springs. they're very cheap.
50 bucks a piece. and changing them will do wonders for your bike.

cone-set. costs INR.280. labour cost to get em replaced will prolly cost more than the actual product tho.

                • @xionite:

A few of the queries that I have are:

                  1) Can we put 220 clutch plates in our bikes? And is it by any way a advantageous to bike?

                  2) Chain sprocket still stock? or changed to increase or reduce gearing?

                  3) Which brake and clutch levers are you using? (as you mentioned the change)

                  4) Did you carried out De-carbonizing at any point during such a mileage clocking (or beating )?

                  5) Even my bike does'nt clocks 130kmph, what might be the reason?

                  Thanks.

                  • Is it possible to replace the brake master cylinder and its associated components with one from R15 or any other bike?.Just the master cylinder part.If possible is there any problems that could arise.

There must be no problem apart from replacing or altering a few of the components. But, why did you want to replace master cylinder? Instead search for good quality brake pads and tyres.

Yeah, even i experience it more in the lower gears esp 2 to 4th and between 4000 rpm to 45000rpm.This particular sound disappears as soon as i hit the 5th gear.Guess its a common problem with these bikes.

too much vertical "play" after they get old.

                                try an R15 front end.

just kidding. i've been over 135kmph before i did the R15 mod on my bike.

and after the mod. it went faster.

i won't quote any figures here tho.
