        @all

Is bajaj planning for any upgrade(Cosmetic or Engine) on Pulsar UG4?

As I am going to buy one for me. Just to be on a safer side you know
I think they are pushing deadlines to next year...but we can assume that new 180s would come with 4 valve engines

          3. Will i get the comfort in the bike as of unicorn !(coz i should not feel bad about my choice)
          4. Will i get the desired mileage if i ride my bike @ 4-5k RPM speed-50-70?

But one thing i like to tell about the bike it looks awesum ! So experienced guyz ! Any suggestions >??
          1. abhi is correct...every bike is correct in today's market...wrong bikes like LML etc,. are extinct now.
          2. visit SC for any any any doubt/problem...most of thing in this bike are customizable
          3. I don't know about you but I never felt unicorn comfy...I don't know what so great with monoshocks I always felt it very stiff (so do many others)...unicorn gave me backpain on very first just 1KM ride.
          4. when it comes to millage pulsar has no match...

@abhi : I think there's something abnormal with my bike...I don't drive as sanely as you(maybe?)...Every signal is a drag race for me and I feel stretch as motoGP tracks but still bike is returning millage of 49...how's that?

(Lolzzzz.) That's the best you are extracting, cannot imagine what will be the figures if you ride sanely. Maybe, your AFR is set too lean, that might also be one of the reasons.

My bike is up for a service, will do that in coming days, any suggestions. It has clocked 10,500kms.

            • That is the problem with my bike bro. I have adjusted AF ratio myself. Before this i was getting more than 50. The bike is really underpowered for its weight. Not satisfied with its performance. We have any thread for AFR tuning in xbhp?? Can anyone post link for that?

It need alot of practice to master the art of tuning a carbureter perfectly. You should get it tuned, always by the SC or a good mechanic. Incase, you may contact local xbhpians for finding out good mechanics.

                  • K friends. Today i took a good ride from my office to home (in rain) . Please clear my doubts !

                    1. First of all while running in lower speeds (say 3rd gear 25-30 km/hr) i can feel vibrations on my foot rest ! Once i get a speed >40 the vibrations gets lesser ! Why am i getting this vibration ? Is it fixable during the first service. I have clocked 200 Kms until now !

                    2. This is a very kiddish doubt ! I can see a red light below the analog rpm meter ! I think its a indication that my fuel level is low ! Then why didnt i get the reserve ! I still ride my bike on normal mode i.e by changing the fuel knob downwards !

                    3. I can feel pain on my hands ! Due to the rough hand grip ! Should i change the grip or will i get used to it !

                    4. I feel i have to lean a bit to get to the handle bar, which i feel uncomfortable ! Can i adjust the handle bar i.e life it up to reduce the lean angle ?

                    5. When i ride the bike @ 50-60 and when i tend to lessen the speed ( say 20) should i change the gear to 2 and then increase it or if i can manage 20 km/hr in 3-4 gear can i do that ! Which is a better way of riding the bike (mainly in the aspect of mileage..)

                    6. While riding the engine at lower speeds (say in 2nd gear i give some acc. to get to 20km/hr) and stop accelerating the bike i can hear engine cry ! i.e if i acc bike and leave it i can hear the cry ! Y is it ? Is it because being a 180cc bike i am riding it very slowly ?

Forgive me for such a long list of questions and many amateur ones as well ! Eagerly awaiting for reply !

                    • Welcome here, Karthik.

                      1) Vibrations will be there in the first 2500kms, after that as the engine settles down, so will be the vibrations. Vibrations at the footrests are also due to non-lubed chain. And some minimal amount of vibrations at footrest will always be there at certain RPM/speeds.

                      2) Red light denotes that the petrol in the tank is less than 4ltrs and nothing.

                      3) Once you get used to the sitting position the problem will go away, usually. I took 3000kms to get used to the sitting position.

                      4) Same as above.

                      5) Check the ideal speeds at each gear in the owners manual. Normally, one should downshift when the engine cannot take the particular gear anymore and starts juttering, at this point, shift one gear down, if engine again jutter's then shift one or as required gears down.

                      6) What is CRYING of engine? in 2nd gear at 20kmph engine should'nt show any sort of abnormal behavior.

                      Feel free to ask.

You need to lower the gear here... Please don't make you engine cry..
As you keep riding you'll get to know at what gear and what speed you need to carry on.. Basically you need to keep the engine stress free...
There will surely be a lot of smoothness after the 1st service (@500 km on odo.. Make sure engine oil is changed with the right grade)

                        2. This is a very kiddish doubt ! I can see a red light below the analog rpm meter ! I think its a indication that my fuel level is low ! Then why didnt i get the reserve ! I still ride my bike on normal mode i.e by changing the fuel knob downwards !

The red light glowing indicates two things
                        - 1. Continuous glow indicates fuel in your tank is lesser than 4 lt. But don't rely on this; reason being if there is fuel say around 4.5 lt when you bend towards your right the red light will glow since there will less fuel towards the left part of your tank and in the case when there is lesser than 4 lt when your bike bends left the indicator won't glow (sensor is towards the left side)
                        - 2. The red light will also blink (on-off-on-off) when you hit the red line (you won't notice until you complete the run-in)

                        3. I can feel pain on my hands ! Due to the rough hand grip ! Should i change the grip or will i get used to it !

                        This will go away.
In my case I have a soft grip put on and I use my riding gloves all the time so no pain. Will advise you to do the same

                        4. I feel i have to lean a bit to get to the handle bar, which i feel uncomfortable ! Can i adjust the handle bar i.e life it up to reduce the lean angle ?

Thats the design of the bike due to the rear set foot pegs.. Only need to get used to it.. Don't make any adjustment with the handle bar (my opinion)

You can manage it but lowering the gear will be better so that you bike doesn't stall..

Thats the sound of pulsar .. The sound will be much smoother after the service.. not to worry..
Note: Don't rev your bike above 4k rpm for the time being while accelerating.. Change to higher gear

Forgive me for such a long list of questions and many amateur ones as well ! Eagerly awaiting for reply !
Complete your run-in diligently and then you'll surely have fun with this 180cc mill...

Please post all questions here, there'll always be guys to happily give you the answers... Don't shy away

Thanks bro:-) i thought of learning few things by practice and interested to do something, tried adjusting more than 3 times. If i go further the screw may get damaged. So wil contact a mechanic nearby.

It's very popular myth driving in higher gears at vary slow seeds will increase millage...
engineRPM has nothing to do with millage..
There are few things which are interrelated in bike such as
                              1. millage is inversely proportional to the amount petrol we are
introducing in the engine (using accelerator)...On ascents or with
pillion we need to pull accelerator a bit more which in turn
consumes more petrol to keep bike at the same speed...
                              2. at particular gear engine RPM is always proportional to the speed...
To get the best millage you should be able to drive very efficiently meaning you should be able to drive at quite stable speed with minimum accelerator without stressing the engine...
Driving at 20 in 4 th gear won't give you good figure and also it will damage many other engine parts such as clutch plates etc,.

I used to get that some time ago...I think it happens because of cold engine running at quite low RPM.
When it's cold like in winter or in rainy nights and engine also hasn't warmed up you may keep hearing that sound for some time unless you ride the bike for about 10 mins. There is another work around for this you should not drive with cold engine meaning whenever you start the engine pull the choke for 30 seconds. This tip is recommended for running in bikes. see if this works and replay back..

                                good but it's Indonesian

anyway I'm not running bike lean...I recently checked the color of plug diodes, it's brownish black...I can get above 120+ at any time any where.
It has been said that one get bad millage with rich and lean ratios...to get the best millage possible one should set the ratio to factory optimal.

The reason behind getting good millage maybe because :
                                1. No matter at whatever speed I drive, I drive efficiently.
                                2. Cold engine RPM is ~0.95k and Hot engine RPM is ~1.4k
                                3. mostly I drive without pillion.
                                4. I kill engine at every signal (sounds funny na?)
                                5. I use motul.
                                6. I use premium fuel mostly HP Speed and sometimes Shell super.
                                7. I use clutch extensively.
                                8. lubing chain at every 200 km.
                                9. I don't let tire pressure go above 28 psi. and I fill air after 5 weeks ( yeah I'm lil lazy).
