use Motul 3000 15W50 mineral oil...tested and appreciated.
and tell them explicitly that you are bringing your own oil.

DON'T DO ANY CARB TUNING if your bike running fine and giving good millage...ask them any other prob you are facing to fix...these guys fix almost anything. Hence I always ask them not to touch tuning and idling.

I do it every 200km...probiking SC said to do it every week, never ever run with dry chain...use W90 oil to lube.

    • I agree with lockhrt on 1,3,4,5 points.

      2) Use normal Mineral oil till 2nd service. Motul 3100 15w50, Petronas 20w50(?), ....

      • K thanks for the suggestion Guyz ! Another set of questions ...

        1. Is Motul 3100 15w50 easily available >?
        2. I cant service my bike this weekend .. Because of OFFICE. So i think will service my bike only next weekend ! So i think it ll reach 600 KMS. Is it ok ? Or should i service the bike @ exactly 500 kms ....
        3. And i also felt the gear box very rough.... Will that be corrected in the first service ???

            1) In my city, it is a damn hard job to find Motul 3100 15w50.

            2) You can service your bike anywhere in between 500-750kms. But, not more than 750kms becuz that way your warranty will expire.

            3) That will become smooth gradually. My gearbox was hard till I finished 5000kms and after that it doesnot feels as made by Bajaj.

Valvoline Premium 20w50, Motul semi synthetic (most easily available), Petronas Mineral 20w50(?), Castrol Activ (keep it as last option), Servo multi grade 20w50 (last after Castrol).

                • Hey Guys,

I have some update about my bike [P180 UG4] to share with you all.

I have recently completed 4000 KMs and not yet gone for third free servicing.

                  1. Changed the Engine Oil to Motul 5100S. The bike has become smoother.
                  2. Lubing the chain after every 200 KMs with W90 grade oil. The bike has become smoother.
                  3. Changed the headlight to Osram 55/60 W. The illumination is better.
                  4. For the first time crossed 100 KMPH mark in 4th Gear. Engine almost red-lined for the very first time. Before this I always crossed 100 KMPH in 5th gear by very gradually increasing the speed.
                  5. Achieved the top speed to 122 KMPH. The Engine has still some juice left, but the road ran out. [FYI I weigh a solid 95 KGs]

I have started to seriously rip the bike now and the bike is responding very well.

There is a problem of handle-bar wobbling at 50-65 KMPH speeds, but I have not found any solution to this till date.

I have NEVER achieved a FE of more than 40-41 KMPL. But I don't care much about that.

I am very happy with the bike performance over all. Damn glad I bought it.

                    What's motul 3100 ?
It's not officially available in India...and it is not mineral oil.

                      good
How much did it cost for Osram bulb and any changes in bike to accommodate that bulb? Is the illumination good on highway now if riding at speed 80?

                      • Used Pulsar 180 UG1 (2004 model)

I've recently brought my 180 UG1 (which I bought second hand a couple of months back) from Chennai to Pune. Drove down over two days, via Hyderabad. (Will post that story another day!).

1)Now after running 1300 km over some very bumpy roads, I need to get my bike serviced. Which are the reliable Bajaj service centres in Pune? I've read some pretty bad reviews about a lot of Bajaj service centres.

                        2) I've seen some posts recommending 15w50 oil. My mechanic in Chennai recommended 10w30 oil (which is what I used while driving to Pune) Should I get my oil changed immediately?

                        3) The self-starter is not working now. You can hear the motor trying to turn, but nothing happens to the engine. Is this a serious problem, or something minor like the solenoid giving trouble?

The engine takes some 3-4 kicks to start in the morning, but runs smoothly and revs eagerly once started. No complaints otherwise. Hope to see other Pulsar owners at any G2Gs being organised near Pune!

Castrol GTX is wat i use on my P18OUGIII... SAE 20w-50

                          change ur oil to a 20w50... or a 15w50...

10w30 is definitely not meant for the 18O.

                            2) Use only recommended grade 20w50 API SM/JASO MA.

Castrol GTX is meant for WET Clutch motors only. Donot use it in our bike, it will cause clutch slippage, as it contains additional friction boosters.
