4300kms? you have nothing to worry about...
if they can't figure out a solution by the time they finish the second service ask them to replace it under warranty asap.

that's what I did when my speedo malfunctioned.
Don't ask. Tell them you want it replaced.

besides... the servicing guys can't "check inside the speedometer"...
their job is to replace your speedo under warranty and send the faulty one to Bajaj Pune for inspection.

          1) In rains some electrical fault might have happened.

          2) Due to mud it makes noise, mine too has this problem, but when I get the bike washed it gets away. And comes again as the mud is accumulated on the shocks.
Brakes (especially rear) is making choooooo... choioooooo... noise from the start of rains and wents away for sometime as I get pressurized wash at rear drum.

Otherwise, still the mileage is 50+.

Is this fault enough to replace whole headlight assembly in warranty?

How much did it cost for Osram bulb and any changes in bike to accommodate that bulb? Is the illumination good on highway now if riding at speed 80?
I got the 55/60 Osram for 90 rupees only. The price for the 35/35 Osram is also 90 bucks. I was actually looking for Osram Nightbreaker [which supposedly costs around 900 bucks] but couldn't find it. So went for this cheaper alternative.

And absolutely no modifications made to the bike. Just opened the head-light assembly and replaced the bulb. The all DC electricals feature is a boon!! The battery is behaving just like it was with the stock bulb. Always starts in one Push and no effect on the horn etc.

The illumination on highway is pretty good. I have tested it on NH4 at around 75-80 KMPH speeds. Not too great, but definately better than the stock bulb.

One question, I inquired about rim tapes for my bike, and the bugger said 180 rupees. Is it a good price? I was asking around Hadapsar / Swargate area in Pune.

                • Gearing Ratios on P180 UG4

                  Hi Guys,

I have been thinking about it since the day I bought my bike. It is actually bugging me so I am going to let it out and would appreciate your views.

Since Day 1 of the new bike, I have always felt that the Gearing Ratios are not that great on P180 UG4. I find the gear ratios too short. And I have always felt the need for a 6th gear in this machine. Does anyone else feel the same?

Because of the shorter ratios, the gear changing is extensive in this bike, and even in the 5th gear, the amount of vibrations are considerably higher, which has always made me think that I am still on the 4th gear. I think one more gear is required or the ratios should be made a little taller.

What is your opinion on this? May be some one who has tried the older 180 can share his experience as well.

PS - I am not cribbing, I still love the bike to the extreme.

I agree with you...but we can't fiddle with gearing ratio ...
instead you can change the sprocket...
Is your bike in running in? if yes some vibration will be there till 2000 km on ODO.
try filling Shell Super, it diminishes vibrations. it's only 1 rs. higher than others
and use good engine oil like motul.

                      Hey lockhrt,

The bike has completed running in [4300 KMs] now. I always use Shell Super only and I have recently shifted to Motul 5100s 15W50 Oil.

I didn't mean to ask about fiddling with the gear ratios ourselves. I understand it can not be done. It is just something that I have been thinking about, so I shared it here.

By the way, I like the idea of changing the sprockets. I think it is worth exploring in this direction. Thank You.

                        • Andy, changing the sprocket means to put in a different sprocket on your rear wheel, with fewer or more teeth than the standard one. This will change your final drive ratio and give you better acceleration (with lower top speed than stock) or higher top speed (with slower acceleration than stock)

BTW, lockhart, NH4, where can I find good lubricants in Pune, preferably near the University of Pune? Are there any service centres in this area that you'd recommend?

                          Comment

                          • And you're right NH4, I've also felt the need for a 6th gear. Or at least better spacing of the ratios. The current setup is too focused on city driving.
