It's 20W40.Cheap and better is Castrol Activ. More expensive and better is Castrol Power One.(I used this, costs about Rs 250). More better and more expensive is Motul 5100.(Rs 375)Originally posted by ACE_HUNTER View Postsigpic

I stand corrected then.Originally posted by prafultripathy View PostCorrection, its only the P 180/200/200 that need 20W50. The P 150 needs a 20W40.

SAE 20W40 OF API SG+JASO MA Grade
Is It Castrol Activ Or Power 1 ?
Can I Use Motul 5100 ?Failure should never go to heart & success should never go to head, both makes a person to fall in life-Winston Churchill

Dude,20W40 means the Viscosity Index Rating of the engine oil that must be used in the Discover.Originally posted by ACE_HUNTER View PostYes You Are Correct,As Per User Manual It Says

Castrol Power One is good as it's 15W40.
Motul is excellent if you want to shell out some more. That is available in 15W50 also.sigpic

If u want a good 20W40 mineral, check the SHELL mineral oil available at all SHELL petrol bunks. One of the best. A lot better than the CASTROL Crap and as good as MOTUL's mineral. Using it on my bike and my brother's bike as well. And it costs just 200 bucks.Democracy is when 2 wolves and a sheep meet to decide who is for dinner. Liberty is when the sheep has a gun.

Bajaj Total SUCKS
Before Starting My Worst Experience With Bajaj Spares Parts I Am Mentioning Some Places Where Chennai Xbhpians Knows The Places
Today I Was Travelling From Kotturpuram Towards Madya Kailash Signal @ 5:30 pm When The Signal Is Cleared Towards Right Way To Omr Suddenly My Throttle Cable Got Cut In The Middle Of Signal
Then I Pushed It To A Nearby Mechanic He Said The Throttle Cable Got Cut Must Be Replaced, @ 6:15 Pm I Reached The Indra Nagar Jai Bajaj Service centre to get the cable I Asked The spares for Discover 135cc Throttle cable, he then checked with computer Said NO STOCK I Was Like WTF
Bajaj Is The 2nd Largest Bike Maker(Correct me if i am wrong) With No Throttle Cable Stock With ASC, Then I Asked The Guy 'I Left The Bike There Near Madhya kailash signal with throttle cable cut you are saying that NO STOCK
' He Saying 'Come Tomarrow Sir We Will Arange The Spare Price 70 Rs ' Totally Pissed Off, Time Was 6:30 Pm He Closed The Shutter & Did Not Cared About Nothin, I Foned My Dad About This He said He Enquires @ Jothi Auto Mandaveli & Buzzed Back No Stock There Also ,But He Got The Cable Near A Local Shop Priced 60 Rs & Fixed Around 7:45 Pm
My Total Kms Covered 14,765 Kms On My Bike
Q1: What Do We Do About This ?
(OT)Q2: As I Said In My What Bike Thread 'Target ?' Were I Am Gonna Buy RTR 160 Fi Which 'The TVS Is Good On After Sales Service' ? Are The TVS Customers Getting Attention On Their Bikes From TVS ?
(For This Question Discussed @ Apache RTR\FI Ownership Thread )
(OT)Q3:The Above Question Reapets For Yamaha Also,Considering The R15
( For This Question Discussed @ R15 Ownership Thread )
Ps:For Question 2 & 3 Is Based For All Over IndiaFailure should never go to heart & success should never go to head, both makes a person to fall in life-Winston Churchill

My Ride - Bajaj Discover 135 DTSi
Hi Guys.. My ride is a blue, Bajaj Discover 135 DTSi.. I have owned it for 15 months now..
This is my 1st bike, and I'm proud of my choice..
I have done about 9,000 KMs on it, and till date it has not given me a single problem..
I own the drum brake version, because my dad was of the opinion that I if I bought the Disc brake version, I would ride the bike very fast.. Hehe..
Anyways, like I said, I love this bike very very much, and its power is perfect for a new biker like me..
If there's 1 thing that Bajaj can work on this bike, its the Head lamp console.. It looks very bulbous, and a little weird..
Overall- No complaints. Bajaj has a satisfied customer in me..
PS: I'm planning to upgrade to FZ-16 soon.
Any idea how much my Discover would fetch me? Like I said 9k KM done, Insurance paid till Jan 2010. No scratches, no damage. Immaculate condition..
My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240
The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

After I joined my first job in 2005, I was immediately on the lookout for a bike and settled down to 125cc segment. My first choice at that time was TVS Victor followed by Splendour 125cc. Discover was never on my radar. A guy who joined with me at the same time got a bike before I did and it was a Discover. The first time I saw the bike, I was bowled over by the looks. After doing a thorough research on the internet, I decided that Discover would be my ride and got myself one on 17th December 2005. The buying experience was made forgettable thanks to my bank else I would have got it atleast 10 days in advance.
Since then, I have been enjoying every second on my bike for 23,600 km that I have done till date. I have kept her well maintained and she never lets me down. Only problem that I have had is with the chain getting lose a few days after one of the services. Since it was around 9:00 pm, I had to get it fixed at a roadside shop to reach home. When the bike was new, I used to get a lot of queries from other bikers at signals on mileage, cost etc which made me feel even better.
I love the terrific throttle response and the engine note. I have run at 80 kph without realising the speed I was doing.
Now to the dislikes, there is a vibration between 60-70 kph, the gear box sometimes moves to false nuteral
and is quiet noisy. I have ridden my father's Star City and the gear shift on that is a pleasure. Here it is comparitively laborius and noisy.
I have had one fall with my bike on a rainy day when I tried to get on the road from road side and skid. I had some sever bruises on my hand. My left thumb had a big blood clot and the nail came off. There were some scratches on the dome and front mudguard. I have also outbraked myself and hit the rear of a bus breaking the headlight assembly.
I hope that she serves me well for another couple of years.

Wise choice.Which engine oil do you use? The vibrations can be lessened to an extent if you use a better engine oil. Motul 5100 will do wonders. Unlike what Motul did to my Gladiator,it sets the Discover on fire. My Discover 125 had much better pickup with Motul and the vibrations in the footrest and the gear lever were lessened.Originally posted by arsudarsan View PostAfter I joined my first job in 2005, I was immediately on the lookout for a bike and settled down to 125cc segment. It will.Originally posted by arsudarsan View PostI hope that she serves me well for another couple of years.
P.S.: The Gladiator's engine runs cooler than the Discover's. Hence thicker oil isnt required. The Discover will get along just fine with Motul.Last edited by nightwing; 04-18-2009, 05:37 PM.sigpic

Thanks for the suggestion. I have never procured engine oil myself. It has always been what the authorised service center put in. I am planning to try shell next time.Originally posted by nightwing View PostWise choice.Which engine oil do you use? The vibrations can be lessened to an extent if you use a better engine oil.
