  • Sarbon xtreme/hunk doesn't drink oil as much as the pulsars, please check whether your bike is smoking out in white colour just place your finger at the end tip of silencer if your finger gets dirty with oil then your rings are worned out, your engine is burning more oil than fuel. if possible check the engine compression too, a healthy engine should pump 140psi.

    • After reading the above posts had a mild heart attack.Ran downstairs
      poked all the fingers i have into the silencer hole its as dry as the SAHARA.
      No oily stuff or anything observed its CLEAN.Also no smoke is coming out its colorless as water.

      Its 900ml dude not 1000ml.every time i topped up and went for a ride the pickup seem to have increased.

      @raccon the 10 kick thingy was the idea of a castrol bike zone supervisor.
      He said that would help in the circulation of oil.Ok no choke unless its needed got the point.

      @ravi me a student -no work.But my benevolent dad even offered me to buy the ZMA but knowing him well enough he wont give me the moolah for that gas guzzling monster(remember the way i drive).So got cbz instead

      So if i check the compression thing sorted out then no more drinking episodes right??..seems to be a serious problem should i take it to castrol bike zone or to the service center

      • Sarbon-Oxley, Karizma at 100 kmph gives you around 33-35 kmpl. I am sure at 100kmph a cbz xtreme also gives around 35-38 kmpl (correct me if I am wrong). You will have more satisfaction with a Karizma or a P220 with decent mileage at 100 kmph. Anyway, it is of no use now.

        Regarding the oil drinking, as you are telling there is no black smoke or oil from silencer, nothing is wrong with your piston rings or valves. May be it is due to your high-ripping way of riding. Pulsars are known to drink Motul 300V, which is a synthetic oil, without emitting black smoke or oil. May be the synthetic oil you are using is also a reason.

        If the compression thing doesnot solve your problem, the other way is use normal mineral oil and cuise at 80-90 kmph. Do not give too much throttle and rip. Listen to the bike's engine and do not torture it. This may solve your problem.

        • I think what Ravi says is right. Don't give her the stick! Observe the response under mild accelaration&if need be, take it to an authorized HH SC.

          • Ya, I agree with Ravi - it just might be an issue with the P1R. Did you face anything close to similar on the Elf and other mineral oils you've used?

            You really should get the compression properly tested asap. It hardly takes few minutes!

            • jus switch to a different engine oil brand,preferably HH 10w30 and check after a few kms...i am sure this would solve ur problem..or change piston rings/valve oil seal..how many kms has ur bike run...that would be really of grt help to suggest further...

              • ^^mate my bike has completed 8780kms in 3 months.The bike had a oil leakage posted a pic somewhere in this thread the mech changed a oil sealdont know its name .

                @racoon remember that i used to change the oil every 900kms.I stopped it only after you ,ravi,and hydbykr scolded me.this is the first oil that has seen 2000kms in my bike till now.So dont know.

                @R15 Ok wont take her above 80km/hr till this thing is resolved.I take it to the xtreme not cause i live on the highway but this bike feels easy @105km/hr only @ 110/hr it seems like the engine is starting to strain.
                thats the reason i always cruise between 95-105km/hr everytime.
                After changing to castrol p1R it reaches the cruising speed very fast growling all the way.After using this oil i cannot even imagine to move back to HH or even the elf.

                Where is the 230ml of oil that i topped up gone????????.has it converted to some other form /is the thing still inside my engine etc...

                  I have used HH oil many times for more than 2000 km initially. It never used to drink. The current crop of oils can easily last 3000 km. So, this is not an issue at all.

                  You can sitll use the CP1racing but try cruising at 80-90 kmph and see the result. Your piston rings and valve oil seals are very much safe; do not worry.

                  The top speed of Hunk is 107 kmph (correct me if I am wrong). You are always cruising above this level and it is not good for the engine (see you are always using the full potential of the engine). As you r using the engine in the extreme conditions, it may be that the oil is getting vaporized because the CPR1 is thin. This is just my wild guess.

                      Heheh... assuming your bike obeys the laws of classical physics, matter can only be transformed from one form to another... it can't be destroyed! Your oil has very likely got burnt or vapourised. And there are no dark alleys in your engine where your oil can get 'lost'. It should all come back to the sump due to gravity.

                      As for the vapourisation part, I really doubt it as synthetic oils are supposed to have a higher vapour points. So if it has indeed vapourised, then it raises questions about the quality of the oil. And burning of oil leaves carbon deposits in the engine, which is bad news.

                      I suspect you might not have checked the oil in the same conditions. Are you sure you have done that?

                      Ravi, he has a CBZ-X, not a Hunk. And I think CBZ has bit higher top speed (correct me if Im wrong). IIRC, my own CBZ has touched 120 once (meter reading of course). I guess it could have gone bit higher, but my friend behind started to shreik... so I had to slow down...

                      • both hunk and xtreme have same topend....also riding ur bike to full potl doesnt mean that oil level has to dip...i take my unicorn to redline in every gear even after 56k kms no oil level drop after 2k kms...

                        so dont worry about ur speeds there is something wrong with oil quality...jus for the heck of checking change engine oil brand and see how much oil level has dropped...i think that would solve all ur problems..

                          It is not just taking to the redilne occasionally. Most of his riding is on highways and always keeps his bike at full potential. Riding continously at top speeds is not good to the engine. The burning of oil is just my guess.

                            He should have got a higher capacity bike which could do the same speeds at lower RPMS without utilizing the entire engine capacity!
                            Even then, see what happened to KP's R15 due to long riding at highspeeds...

                            • I have a gut feeling something else is wrong i have done number of non stop rides to mysore and other places, i haven't faced this issue. my bike has cocked 17XXX kms.

                              Sarbon you are at sea level right, if you are then your bike should be hitting more than 140psi, i am at 3,000ft above sea level my bike is hitting 140psi, just take it to any CB zone they will get the check done.

                              • I didnt touch the bike for a whole day went downstairs and idle the bike for EXACTLY 5 min..The oil level was barely above the min. mark level.But i am sure that if i take it to say tirupathi and check the oil level their it would be near the max level mark on the dipstick.I say that cause i checked the oil the level immediately once i reached my house from tirupathi it was touching the max level mark on the dip stick perfectly.I know that oil expands on heat.so should i top the oil up if i did that it would be showing beyond the max mark level on long rides say to tirupathi is that OK.

                                Are their castrol p1 R fakes available in the market.If yes how to determine that i have the genuine one.Well m bike hits 9000RPM easily even now.The oil feels like new even though it has changed color slightly.All it takes to reach 123km/hr from 100km/hr is 11 seconds(i counted it) even now.so does that mean mine is not a fake

                                My dad is not allowing me o touch the bike let alone take it to the SC/CBZ.he wants me to spend this weekend with the books.
